"With 1 exception...employees were a little brisk!"
Overall our stay was nice. When we arrived the staff was less than welcoming. It was almost like us arriving was a bother. With the exception of one employee, that same attitude carried on through the rest of our four day trip. The one employee, a black male, was always welcoming. This hotel needs help. "Got what we paid for"
Booked this room because it was the cheapest and most conveniently located (very close to the freeway). Room smelled badly, one of the lights was out, they had a weird towel-subbing-out policy (and were out of them one morning), and the solid curtain (the one that blocks the sunlight) was broken. On the bright side, their fridge came in handy for freezing […] grapes for our hike, and we were really close to the freeway (making drives to Boulder, Red Rocks and downtown Denver super convenient). The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the downstairs sitting room was cute and comfortable. The continental breakfast was plentiful. This hotel is located just off I-70 and Quebec and not that easy to find. The surroundings and some of the people coming anf going leave something to be desired. "Not Too Bad For The Price..."
This hotel was pretty average. You can tell the building is older. The hallways really didn't smell that great - seemed to smell like smoke somewhat, but not really sure exactly what it was. We did have to wash our clothes when we got back because everything just had a strange smell. The guy at the front desk that checked us in was so quiet that we […] could hardly understand him, but he wouldn't speak up when we asked him to repeat what he said; also, he didn't really tell us much info (like about wireless internet, other amenities). The beds were comfy and everything was really clean. The housekeeping was great and very friendly. The breakfast selection online seemed great from the pictures, but it wasn't amazing. They had a bowl with apples and oranges (not the freshest). They had a few selections of pastries, some bread for toast, and a few kinds of cereal. We were hoping for some great fresh fruit or some meat or something, but unfortunately we got neither of each. Also, we were eating in the dining area one morning and heard some screeching right above us in the ceiling tiles. Apparently there were birds living right on top of one of the tiles right above our heads. The front desk worker said that the birds keep coming back after they remove the nest. I think there may be a health code violation there and that there should be some way to keep the birds out permanently. The noise between rooms is also not great. I could hear several of our neighbors on the phone or watching television. Most of the time it was at night when my husband and I were in bed, and we could actually hear what the person on the phone was saying or hear the television program they were watching. The only way we could drown out the noise was to try to turn on the air. They definitely need some insulation there. The air conditioning worked great and made it very comfortable in the room. Best Inn and Suites Denver was difficult to find to begin with because it's tucked away in a corner. The hotel smelled terrible when me and my wife first walked in. It's not kept up very well, I didn't even think the price we paid would result in the terrible conditions of the hotel. "Beware paying ahead for your room"
I reserved and paid for a smoking room, king bed. I paid for it 4 days prior to our arrival. When we arrived, the clerk told us that he had already given away all the rooms like the one I reserved. My choice was a smoking room with two twin beds, or nonsmoking with a king. We had to spend our night going down the elevator to the courtyard to smoke. […] I should not have even had to choose between the two! Frankly, I expect that if I have paid for the room, it needs to be ready when I arrive. I would understand if I had not already paid for it, but as I paid for the room ahead of time, he should not have given it to someone else. I paid for the comfort and convienience.
