Ramada Denver Downtown

The front desk was very polite,however the hotel was so outdated. The room was so 80's and it smelled. I'm very surprise that AAA name is on it. I hope they update the hotel to match the service. Also Please..... Please get a new cart for luggage. One of the wheels was just hanging on, and the others were bad.

The major downside we found to this hotel was the shuttle was hourly rather than on demand however we just ended up walking so it was not a big deal. It was only a 15 minute walk to the 16th Street Mall area with a 6 yr old in tow. The neighborhood is eclectic during the day and a bit intimidating after dark. The room itself was Ok. We were given handicapped rooms which we did not enjoy. They offered a shuttle to Coors Field but it only runs on the hour and there are only 3 shuttles offtered. We booked this motel because of the shuttle and were unable to take it because it was full. Will not stay here again.

Over all OK but for the price or just a bit more I have stayed in much better places in down town Denver. Room (244) had a bad smell everyday around 8:00 am. It would disapate by the time I would return to my room late afternoon. Not sure if it is sewer related because most customers would be done showering or using the the bathromms by then.Tub needs […] repair badly, it works but is cracked, chipped and unsightly. Most staff were friendly execpt for one young man who seemed to have a attitude no matter when I saw him. It was better to avoid then approach him. I made it a point to talke to someone else if I needed anything. Cost of eating there is over priced and over rated for what one received and how it tasted. Ate somewhere else after the first day. We found a dirty sock in our sheets...which makes us wonder whether they were changed prior to our stay. Also, we paid for a rollaway bed...NOT worth it. It was all plastic and crunched everytime you moved. Also, the blanket on the rollaway was gross.

Overall the day staff was great, the guy attending the front in the evening was absolutely rude about everything. We saw a homeless man sleeping in one of the staircases of the hotel. And parking is the biggest pain in the evenings. Unfortunately I did not know before booking this hotel that East Colfax is a notoriously bad neighborhood. I was with my 6 yr old son and was approached by homeless people, a drug dealer and a panhandler all on the same block as the hotel. The hotel itself smelled badly and is in sore need of renovations. A couple of the desk clerks were rude - 1 stayed […] on a personal call while he tried to service us and seemed like he was on something. Another threatened our car would be towed when I told him I parked at night in the last spot in the lot which was a hotel registration spot and would not park in the dangerous neighborhood. 3 other clerks were much more kind, 1 of them told me not to worry and that he would not let my car get towed. Another was also very friendly and kind, but that including him being welcoming to vagrants who walked into the lobby off the street. Thye entire hotel was masked by Ozium to cover up the cigarette smoke. The smell made me ill and I had to leave earlier than I wanted. You knew when the front doors of the hotel were always open that there was an odor problem. Unless you smoke do not go there!

Small things like a south entrance card reader that does not work, forcing you to park in the back and walk all the way around to the front to enter; an alarm clock in the room that would only read 12:00 and could not be changed; a TV remote that either would not respond to your inputs or […] would duplicate the pressing of buttons and change many channels or turn itself on and off and on; parking is very tight, but we did not have a time when no spot was available; hot tup smelled like laundry detergent, not sure if that was being used as a cleaner; pool was nice and hopefully safe from infectous deceases; shower diverter in bath tub was worn out and half the water was going down the drain during a shower; air conditioner filter was so clogged that light could not penetrate it, I cleaned it in the bath tub myself; there was a lot of damage to doors, hallways, elevator, carpeting, etc.; this hotel has two things going for it - location and price. The only thing I don't like about this hotel is the fitness room. I don't know why they call it that. The treadmill is worthless, the bike is ok. They have free weights but no bench to use. We chose this Ramada because it was close to our son's apartment. However the surrounding area on Colfax was not so pleasant. Service was very good. As for the hotel itself, the lighting in lobby and corridors was dim (probably to disguise the cheesy furnishing and "rustic" decor). Small courtyard. For being pet friendly, not much "room" for the pet. Hotel is older and showing severe signs of its age. Beds very uncomfortable, holes in the curtains, and a/c unable to keep room cool. Ran it 24 hours a day during our stay and never cooled off the room.

The room was fine except for a couple things. When you turn the tub adjustor to shower, not all of the water comes out the shower. About two-thirds did come out of the shower, however. I thought the price was fantastic for something in the downtown area. It was located in a neighborhood safe enough to walk around at night (we did) and feel comfortable. The hotel is older but well maintained.

Only an option for a great price. The property does offer free parking which was great ... however the hotel is fairly far from anything truly downtown ... ie Coors Field, convention center, Invesco etc.. The room was clean enough although the carpet could use a good scrub.

I enjoyed the location because there are a few restaurants in walking distance. The neighborhood has lots of young people and cute houses. Everything about the hotel was a little off, though. At check in, we didn't get the room that we reserved. On the second day there were 2 ice machines in the hotel and neither had ice, completely empty. Neighborhood was sketchy at best. I wouldn't recommend walking around after dark. Don't stay on a Sunday since the restaurant isn't open and there is no room service. Waste of money really, could have […] stayed at a cheaper place for what we got. I'd pay a little bit more for more comfort next time or pay less and deal with it.
