Locals joke that the Denver International Airport is a shopping mall with a runway. Roughly 80 retailers and restaurants do business at the airport, one of the nation’s busiest. Located 15 miles east of downtown, the airport area caters to travelers who have early or late flights. Nearby, environmental work is helping turn the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge into an urban oasis.

Call it the railroad yard DoubleTree! The brand is tarnished as you awaken to the sounds of a train yard, Look out the window to an industrial area, with a power station and high voltage wires about . "good hotel near the highway, airport and big mall"
We needed a room to rest, shower and change coming from our ski vacation to the airport. The room had a tea/coffee brewing station and a small fridge, the double room had an average size. The bathroom had a tub/shower with lots of thick towels. Our room 359 was a bit far away from the lobby, better ask for a room what ends with a 05 etc. The check in […] was quick and very friendly managed, as a welcome gift we got freshly baked warm chocolate cookies what our kids apreciated very much. We only stayed for a some hours, didn't sleep there but the hotel served very well our purpose, it's located near the highway and is also near a big mall with department stores and restaurants, it tooks us 20 minutes to reach the airport. "Trains all night long"
The rooms at this hotel are fine. One exception is the heat. Even though it seemed to have a thermostat to set the temperature it was either on or off, so too hot or too cold. That is typical in hotels though. Also it is near the train tracks, and the trains go buy at all hours and blow their horns, even in the middle fo the night. You do not want a […] room that faces south. Also, room service did not understand the idea of eggs, over easy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel itself was fine but it wasn't by the new airport, it was next to the old airport. Not a huge deal except we picked the hotel based on it's location which wasn't where we were led to believe it was.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and convenient but run down"
This hotel is clean and conveniently located, but also old and out of date. The beds are very comfortable and overall the rooms are quiet with some mountain views. For the price an OK place to stay though they don't fix broken equipment. I stayed in June and had to put up with one of two slow elevators being out of service. Came back in September and […] elevator STILL broken as well as the ice maker on my floor and a room that I discovered didn't lock. They did give me a new room, but I had to move everything myself. Also have had trouble with their room service not answering the phone. Overall the rooms are fine, but the hotel does not meet the usual standards of Red Lion. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Red Lion Denver Hotel"
The conference section of this hotel is lovely but the room I stayed in smelled like smoke the second night after housekeeping was done making the bed. The windows must be made of the thinest glass because I was on the second floor and I could hear people talking outside in the parking lot and cars driving up to the hotel. There is a railroad right […] next to the hotel and when the train came through every 1.5 hours it rattled my windows and woke me up. The breakfast also wasn't worth the price. "it is not bad, but not very satisfied too."
The hotel is really hard to find the location. The smell in the room is very strange, at least not fresh. But, at this price, you get what you paid. Overall, the service is O.K. I like the service peoples. But in the hotel, some visitors are really weird. I saw a young rude boy who was topless and yelling to a young lady at 9:30 pm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was business, not pleasure"
I went to Denver for a conference taking place at this hotel and decided to stay there for the convenience. Next time, I will stay somewhere else and do the commute. My stay was a series of minor frustrations that added up to a mediocre experience. First, when I called from the airport hotel information desk, I was given inadequate instructions about […] where to wait for the hotel shuttle (they might have been fine if you traveled often to Denver, but I do not). This resulted in a 45-minute delay to find the 'stop' for the shuttle. Then the shuttle did not show up for another 45 minutes, by which time there were so many passengers lined up that half of us could not take this shuttle and had to wait for the NEXT shuttle. Altogether it took 2 hours to get to the hotel from the airport, almost as long as my flight from Seattle! The room itself was fine, but in general the room and the hotel are a bit run-down (fixtures loose, some woodwork needs painting, etc.). The room lacked simple amenities often found in mid-range hotel chains (refrigerator in room, bottle of lotion). Because of its location at the intersection of two highways, you cannot walk to anywhere, not even the neighboring mall, so unless you rent a car, you are basically trapped. Positive points: the air-conditioning worked well in my room (but some of my fellow conference-members complained that theirs did not); the breakfast buffet was tasty and reasonably-priced (but not free like some other hotel chains). You can tell they are working on it. They have new dressers, crown molding and sinks in the bathroom. But my room also had a terrible shower, roaches and no bathroom toilet paper roll stand. I think it is being updated and will be nicer but I will avoid it for now.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice but..."
The hotel was beautiful when you walk in, but very disappointing when we got into our room. We had a double bed room... but it's double twin beds. Very small for a family of 4. Plus there was no refigerator in the room. It was raining pretty bad outside so the satelite went out (so no TV).Genuine Expedia guest review
"On the train tracks"
Good things: Walking distance to grocery store and Panera Breads; free use of 2 guest computers, printer and fax machine. Very clean rooms. Good mattress and tons of pillows. Not good things: right near night-active train tracks. 1AM, 3AM WOOOOOHOOOOO! Neither good nor "not good", just sayin' that although the lobby and meeting rooms seemed new, halls […] where the rooms were located were pretty dreary and the desk and dresser in the room I stayed in could have used some updating. "Room was Fine"
Room was pretty nice - clean, good desk, very nice bathroom. My window faced directly into a wall in the corner of the courtyard, which was unfortunate, but it looked like other rooms would have had a nice view. The halls were AWFUL - dark, dismal, horrible wall covering, bad carpet and tile. The elevator was FILTHY! The side entrance door to the hotel […] didn't close properly, the glass was filthy, garbage was overflowing. I stayed one night prior to leaving from DIA on a trip. I thought the service was very good. The hotel was under construction to improve it, but that wasn't a problem. "griped my way to a nicer room"
This hotel was the closest hotel to Mile High Music Festival which is the only reason we booked it, i had a feeling it wasnt the nicest, but that was ok because we figured we wouldnt spend much time in the room anyways. When we checked in the aweful lady at the counter just put us in one of the crappiest rooms with TWO beds when it was just me and my […] boyfriend and we specifically booked a king size bed. After dragging our luggage up we found the room was a double bed with the air conditioner as loud as a lawn mower! I went back down to inform her of this and she said some RUDE remark like - "uh yea there isnt any more king size beds, like if i could build you one i would but thats not possible now is it??" aaand thats when i asked to speak to a manager, who was COMPLETELY nice about it and totally upgraded us to a suite (still with two beds because thats literally all they had, but at least it was nice) The hotel was so far away from anything else we spent much time after the festival at the bar downstairs with the older bartender Sue* who was AMAZING. She made the stay that much more enjoyable. Overall i might consider staying there again for the festival next year, not for any other purposes. The taxi cost downtown was 20$ both ways and really not worth it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

the girl at the check in desk was not friendly at all - the rooms were not availiable when they said they would be. "Red Lion Hotel Denver"
There were two things I strongly disliked about this hotel and that was the location access and the fact that the hotel is next to a train track. I don't think anyone enjoys being woken up by a train whistle four times periodically through the night. I was thankful I got 3 hours of continious sleep. However, if it wasn't for this "minor" detail I would […] have enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and the restaurant was nice. Stayed at the Red Lion for a youth soccer tournament. The hotel is very dated and the rooms need a facelift. "Decent hotel, decent price"
We had read the reviews prior to staying at this hotel and it was exactly as described - clean, reasonably friendly staff and a trains blowing their horns quite frequently! Saying that though, the trains didn't wake us up at night, but that could have been due to the long days of sight seeing. This hotel is about 7 miles out of the city, which isn't […] too bad if you've got a hire car like we did but I'm not so sure how you would go without a car. We had breakfast included which was pretty standard hotel fare. I would recommend this hotel for families on a driving holiday who don't want to spend huge amounts of money on a room but still want something comfortable and clean.
