The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. Every staff member I met was very helpful and took service very seriously. Only good things to say about my stay. There is a train track/train station adjacent to the property which would be convenient for access to the NJ rail system; however, it was kind of noisy. We worked with the hotel's catering staff […] to do a dinner for 40 during my stay and they did a wonderful job as well. Everyone talked about how good the food and service were, as well as how beautiful the setup was. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a business stay. This hotel service and amenities are amazing, the guest rooms are outdated with carpeting, peeling wallpaper and TVs. Pool, fitness and outdoor patio great spaces. Convenient location, good rates.

Continental Breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Noise from the train station horns, however, generally VERY quiet. Good exercise room, although the roof leaks into the Exercise Room when it rains (no factor).

We stayed for 5 nights in the Madison while working in nearby Chatham. Our work days were grueling, so coming back to this lovely hotel each night really helped us relax after some tough days. Their breakfast was also top notch. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in this area.

The grounds are really nice but the hotel itself is poorly maintained, really bad food, poor exercise equipment, cheap fixtures, outdated TVs, nothing really working very well. Someone needs to manage this place better and put in some capital investment and management effort.

A second great stay at The Madison Hotel. The lobby is beautiful, and the staff very friendly. The bellman actually remembered us from our stay 18 months ago. I was apartment hunting in the area and the Madison was a fantastic stay. Offered great amenities, a very helpful concierge, and complimentary coffee and cupcakes during the day (not a deal breaker, but a nice bonus to perk up the stay). I really enjoy this hotel. We love this hotel. It is extremely close to the train into NYC ($5.25 for seniors) and close to great restaurants in Madison NJ. we have an event in NJ every Memorial Day weekend and always stay herer.

Customer service throughout was shoddy. Desk staff were rude when asked about room changes. (Unable to change a room is one thing; rude in the hospitality business is another.) King-size beds are really good. Design of the lobby is awesome. Breakfast is very nice, with fresh berries, yogurts, different ( not very sweet) enjoyable bakings. Breakfast is way better than in standard motels ( too sweet, cheap , etc) . Swimming Pool is good.

Expedia Unpublished Rate Hotels is a great deal. The Four Star hotel was excellent. Everyone was so polite and make me feel welcome. The room is clean and the hotel is well kept. I had to wait a long time to get a coffee refill at the hotel restaurant, but overall my stay was relaxing and quiet.

The exterior, lobby and restaurant at the Madison are beautiful, with many antiques, lots of brass, and lots of character. Even though the hotel was built in the 1960s, it is easy tio imagine it hosting the most upper of the upper class industrialists during the early 1900s. The minibar in the room is outdated and fairly crude. It didn't work when I really wanted some scotch. Otherwise everything was fine. I was there for a dinner event and the food was excellent.

This was a nice hotel with quality ammenities. There is a great restrurant on site, and many options within a few miles. The location was very conveinient to the train and my business needs. Although the stay was both personal and business, which meant that part of the stay, the part arranged via Expedia, was separate from the business reservation, […] the hotel did allow me remain in the same room. This was a plus for me not to have to move during my stay. I would consider these accommodations quality, but the rooms could use some updating.
