clean hotel that's stuck in the 70's. Exceptionally pleasant staff (why can't all hotels have such nice people?). Old hotel. Barebones amenities. Noisy (even though I was on the back side of the building away from the road). Parking...a definite plus. If I was on my own dime, I'd stay again. If I'm on the company card... I'd stay elsewhere.

Stayed at crowne plaza bev hills last time and decided it try this as its walking distance to office. Great location for me, spacious rooms, large bathrooms and friendly staff at half cost of crowne plaza. Plus, free parking and The Grove is just a few blocks away. Thumbs up.

The location of the hotel was great. But I was rather surprised to find that there were NO secure gates or doors to the rooms. The back alley parking is open to anyone and everyone who walks the street and they can take the stairs straight up to the rooms!! The spaces that were available in the back of the hotel were so tiny that you couldn't open both doors. You have to let people out before you pull in - parking was behind the motel and underneath rooms but above ground. The good thing was that parking was free. It's a very basic hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm used to more amenities but it is a trad-off for the price.There's also a pool but I've never used it. Looks nice though! It has free parking, it's walking distance from The Grove & Farmer's Market, and the bed is comfortable and clean. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Staff was friendly and accommodating before I arrived and throughout my nearly two week stay. Although I booked a one-bed queen through Expedia, when I called the hotel and requested two beds they got back to me the next morning and honored my request at no additional charge. Upon my arrival, when I thought the mini-refrigerator was not working, staff […] assured me that it worked and came to my room and plugged it in. Cleaning staff did a good job of tidying the room, making the bed, and leaving lots of clean towels and washcloths daily. The shower was a pleasure with good force and plenty of hot water. There is no elevator and no one to help carry luggage, which I knew beforehand and did not mind. Carpet in my room had a few stains. The bed was very comfortable. However, the mattress cover shifted and bunched causing some annoyance. I could on occasion hear people talking outside and in the next room. The fan effectively blocked out those noises. Parking, which is behind and under the hotel, was convenient, adequate, and a huge plus. The internet worked well. Bus stops are less than a block away. Downtown is a half hour bus ride. Whole Foods, Ross, K-Mart and an upscale shopping center are three blocks away. LA County Museum is a little over a mile away. Any shops, restaurants, etc. that one could desire are nearby. The hotel/motel is basic, mostly self-service with the benefits of being excellently located, inexpensive for the area, and with a pleasant staff. Read more

Considering it is in downtown LA, where all of the buildings are old, it does not look impressive on the outside. The owners have refurbished the rooms and they have done a good job. However, it's kind of like the "ole silk purse out of a sow's ear" story. Over all, we were pleased as it was convenient to the hospital.

Walking distance from farmers market, Whole Foods,Trader joes and the Grove shopping mall. Free Internet a plus as well as a coffee bean and tea leaf across street. Everything was as expected at check in. The hotel is well located And there is a nice kcal restaurant on the premesis which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room was of decent size. My buddy and I stayed in a room with two double beds for 7 nights, so we had a good feel of the hotel and its environs. We also had others in our group staying in other rooms at the same time. Pros: 1. Friendly and helpful staff. We requested an iron and it came within minutes. Our hairdryer wasn't working but as we went out for the day we told the […] front desk and it was put right by the time we got back. 2. The location is amazing (probably the key selling point for this hotel). The Grove (shopping, dining, movies) and the Farmer's Market (wide selection of food vendors) are a 5 to 8 minute walk away (West). There is a Whole Foods supermarket (across the street from The Grove) where there is even seating and plastic cutlery for you to eat the meals you've just bought. There's a Coffee Bean across the street and a KFC a two-minute walk away (East). A 7-Eleven is also two minutes away, in the other direction (West) as is a Chase bank with ATMs. A 15-minute walk south gets you to an IHOP. A bus stop is right outside the hotel. The La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA are within walking distance (20 minutes). 3. The hotel's in a safe area of L.A. - West Hollywood. It's right next to a good residential area and there's a well-used and safe public park nearby. 4. If you have a car - parking's free! 5. Of course, people differ on what they like in a bed, but I found my double bed very comfortable. I like a firm bed and it was fine for me. 6. Very reasonably priced for the location. (the 7. Well-cleaned each day. 8. If you do stay there, make sure to eat at the Fiddler's Bistro next door. Good hotel with nice rooms. Quite high beds. Very nice restaurant/cafe facing West 3rd street, with super service. 10 minute walk to the Grove / Market Garden. Short distance by car to Hollywood, Beverly Hills.
