"O Hotel - LA - Quirky interesting place to stay"
O Hotel is very modern and has some quirky elements to it which make it an interesting place to stay. Good location, some great restaurants nearby, close to the subway/train. New look to the typical hotel rooms. Was very nice inside the rooms and very clean as well. The only problem I had in my room was that the volume on the TV was very low. "The O Hotel"
The rooms are too tiny for the price we paid. We booked the hotel for 3days but we checked out in 1 day. Rooms are not that great however the staff is very cooperative specially "Pier". Some folks in the reviews have complained about noise, room size, the furnishings, and the staff -- but the Orchid Hotel has clearly responded (or those folks were off the mark). We stayed four nights while in town for a conference; we're seasoned travelers in North America and Europe, for work and pleasure, and we had nothing negative to say about […] our experience -- and many positives in fact. As for noise: the bar no longer functions as a club, and mood music is off by midnight. There are only five (or maybe six?) stories, and we stayed on the third, near the stairs, and we heard nothing. The room size is fine. We had a queen size bed with enough room to walk around the entire bed. There's a desk and a flatscreen tv, plus a closet; there's also a small fridge. There's no big chest of drawers, and no big entertainment center, and the bathroom is small. If you want to do yoga, no problem -- there's space. But if you want to have a dozen friends over and hang out, as you can in most American hotels, you're out of luck. As for furnishings: the place is all new, and very nicely done in a sleek Euro style. The shower is European: small, with a hand-held shower that you can attach to the wall. I'm 5'11" and my partner is 5'2" and we had no problems whatsoever. It's not the greatest functional design because water does splash out, but that's normal in most European hotel bathrooms I've seen. Everything is new, nothing was drab. But there is a distinctly modern, Euro feel to it all, so don't expect your typical institutional crap furniture. Oh, by the way, the bed was very comfortable (and we've had some totally miserable beds in hotels, so that's saying a lot!); in fact, although I like firm beds, my partner likes soft beds (she prefers to sink into the mattress), and, remarkably, we were both content (although I think we both wanted more of what we like -- so it's sort of an in-between mattress). "Do not stay - awful rooms"
The room was tiny, musty-smelling, and the window was feet away from a concrete wall outside (so the room was extremely dark). As soon as we checked in, we called the front desk to complain about the musty smell and dark room, and the front desk told us all rooms were like this, unless we paid extra for an upgraded room. They clearly do not train the […] employees at the front desk for customer service, as they were extremely rude and unaccommodating. Daily parking (with in and out freedom) is $20, which is fairly standard for LA hotels. The "free continental breakfast" is a total scam, as they only put out a few items, which are gone by 9am. The bathroom has this ridiculous shower door that doesn't cover anything -- so the entire bathroom floor gets flooded every time you shower. Vi anvendte hotellet under et kortere ophold i Los Angeles. God beliggenhed rimeligt centralt i Los Angeles tæt på Staples Center. Værelserne var meget moderne - ikke så store, men velindrettede. Hotellet virker meget nyt og moderne. Morgenmad var inkluderet - fungerede fint, men husk ikke at komme lige før "lukketid". Rimeligt godt fitness-rum, men […] hotellet har en aftale om at man kan benytte et stort fitness center ganske tæt på hotellet - kan anbefales. Der er et parkeringshus lige ved siden af hotellet, nemt og bekvemt. Fra hotellet er der også nem adgang til undergrundstransport. Hotellet har en velbesøgt bar og restaurant i stueplan.
