Used as a backdrop for countless films and TV shows, downtown Los Angeles is one of the world’s most recognized skylines. This area’s landmarks include the LA Convention Center, the Staples Center, and Dodger Stadium. Post-modern architecture takes center stage at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Nearby, Chinatown and Little Tokyo lie east of City Hall.

Lobby is beautiful, making you feel like you are checking into a 4 star boutique hotel & check in process was quick however walls are paper thin, corridor needs to be cleaned up and rooms need to get some attention or a make over. Cheaply put together, bed is not comfortable and above head air conditioner is noisy, reminded me of a hotel 6 room with […] white linenes and shiny polyester curtains. Sorry but this should be a three star hotel. Details should be throughout the hotel not just in the lobby! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Boutique Hotel"
The hotel was recommended by a friend for its lobby and restaurant downstairs, a good place to meet people if you have several meetings to fit in.I had to be downtown for work, so Indeed, that was the best part of the place. The lobby and restaurant (where I also ate) are good. When I arrived, the first room I got was really noisy next to a vent or […] so. I had no problem getting another room on another floor. This one was better. Rooms are small, the beds are comfortable. There is only a shower and everything seemed a bit run down, little things, some chips off the bed frame, small but obvious (easy to paint over), not quiet white anymore shower floor and sink (again easy to just maintain so it always looks fresh) it was all clean though. Most annoying for me were the lack of light both because most rooms face a brick wall so no day light comes in when you open the curtains. The biggest minus point also had to do with light again (and yes I understand it was a design decision as light everywhere in elevator and hallways was dim) but both the desk light and bed lights were in a corner and not suitable to read. I had to do a lot of paperwork and ended up sitting in the small hallway on the floor in my room, on some pillows as that was the only place I could see ( I wear no glasses, so not an eye issue). There was another light not working I asked it to be replaced which was never done in the three days I was there. The staff was friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel room was really small and you could hear everything the people in the next rooms were doing. Great location very close to staples center and restaurants. Parking was $12 a day and they have a service charge at the hotel which is $12 as well. I would of rather stayed at the JW Marriott if I new I was going to spend all that money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small rooms"
The location of the hotel is perfect if you are going to the LA Live/Staples/Nokia area. You can leave your car next door to the hotel for $12 a day, then just walk to LA Live in five minutes. We were just disappointed with how tiny the queen bed hotel room was and the bathroom was really tight, with a sliding door. The room is okay if you are just […] staying one night to see a show nearby, but if you plan on staying for more than one night, I would choose another hotel with bigger rooms. We felt like we were in a dorm room all night. The staff and location were great, but I wouldn't come back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Left a lot to be desired"
I picked this hotel because of all the great reviews I read about it. For me personally, it left a lot to be desired. The bathroom in the room was very small. There is no counter space, and the shower nozzle is very awkward to use. The hotel staff was incompetent. The front desk person told us incorrect information about store hours at the local Ralphs […] supermarket. The guy working at the front desk was asleep early in the morning. Parking is a challenge. If you want to use the parking garage next to the hotel, you need to get an in and out pass. To get an in and out pass, you need to buy it from the station attendants, who are not always there. The resort fee includes continental breakfast, which is very meager. A few bagels and that's it. Finally, our room was not cleaned on time. It wasn't cleaned until after 5PM. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was fine. My room air conditioning was terrible! I told them the morning after my first night and they said it would be fixed and nice and cool when I got back that night. I arrived back at my hotel about 10pm and the room was no different, slept terrible, it was way too warm. You should be sweating while dressing after a shower. I won't […] be going back there again. Not happy at all. I also went down at 6am the day of my departure, needed a cab, and there was no one at the front desk. Had to call one myself. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Disappointing hotel & staff"
Checking in and out was quick and easy. The room was clean and tidy. However, the bathroom was very small. The shower area did not have a door to it so when I showered, the sink and toilet area got wet as well. It looked like the shower area was supposed to have a sliding glass door but mine did not have it. At 6AM, someone was knocking on my door […] and since I was asleep, I wasn't able to answer immediately. I woke up shortly after the knocking stopped and the person outside tried to open the door. Good thing I locked it from the inside so when it was pushed open, it hit the lock and the person outside closed the door. Then it went away. I don't even know if it was a hotel staff who was knocking because they never said anything. At 10AM, I was showered and getting ready to leave then someone knocked on my door again. I opened it and there was a male staff there. He said something in Spanish and bowed so I'm guessing he made a mistake. He did not even speak English. I didn't understand why he knocked. Doesn't the hotel have records of which rooms are occupied? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We wouldn't return. Dark, dreary. Offerred a "free" breakfast but charged a room fee that've canceled out the free part. One desk clerk was great and so helpful. Another rather dark and unfriendly. The overall theme seemed to be "Adams Family" and modern gothic. Not aweful but definitely not classy. Wouldn't return or recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to convention center and other attractions"
The room was too small. Because of the small room, the wall mounted TV felt like it was right on top of you which was uncomfortable. Also the blue light on the TV was right in your face. It was difficult for two people to move around in the room. No drawer space, so you had to live out of your suitcase. There was not enough sink space. THere was no […] microwave or radio in the room. The front desk did not let us know about access to Gold's Gym around the corner from the hotel until we asked on the last day. They also did not make us aware of the $12 service charge daily. Otherwise, the cleaning staff was wonderful and I loved the quaintness of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Price with Trade Offs"
Pros: Clean and overall well maintained. Trendy decor was pleasant. Good price for location. Cons: DON'T MAKE YOUR CUSTOMER WORK FOR YOU 1) Service (hint: when a customers phones down to the desk and lets you know the TV guide is missing from the room and they would like a copy the correct response is we will bring one right up NOT pick one up when […] you swing by the front desk next time) 2) Resort fees: These fees drive me nuts. Build them into your price and don't make your customer work by making us add up all the service and resort fees to figure out how much the room total will be. 3) Ask what room you are getting when you book. Do not take a room that faces the back alley-simply find another hotel. There is garbage pickup in the wee hours every day (even weekends). It is very, very loud. I live in a very urban, dense, city. I am accustomed to noises of city living, but this was loud. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lipstick on a pig"
I stayed here Monday, Nov 28th for a quick business trip to LA. This was one of the less expensive hotels and the pictures seemed nice so I took a shot. I like to stay in non-chain hotels and love discovering little known jewels. THIS hotel is NOT one of my proudest hotel moments. Here is what they don't tell you until you check in: 1. There is a mandatory […] $12 add-on to cover breakfast and a newspaper. (Whether you eat or not, or read the paper or not) 2. The "breakfast" was a total joke. It's the same crappy bagel and juice you get free at every other hotel on earth these days. Total rip-off. 3. "City View" is an upcharge and when I got to the room, my "city view" simply means you get to stare at the office building in front of you that blocks the view of everything. No view of anything else. 4. Road Noise! This hotel is a low floor facility and because its literally downtown, cars, truck sounds all night. And what makes it worse is the echo of the sound off the too-close building across the street. 5. No Parking. There is a public garage next door but you will pay $11 to use it. And there are no in and out privileges so it can get expensive quick. This hotel is trying to pass itself off as a hip, cool hotel. But all its actually just an old building in the ugly side of downtown with a few new flat screens in the rooms to make it seem "renovated". Don't be fooled. There is a reason why its so cheap. I am in LA o business a lot and stay in numerous hotels. This one is NOT a good value for what you get. Keep looking... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Left as fast as we could"
The O Hotel is a pig with lipstick. Ultimately this was a gloomy, expensive stain on our trip to LA. What was especially dissatisfying? (first hand observations, not hearsay) The dangerous location in the “no-man’s land” district of downtown LA The surprise two-figure extra "service charge" when I checked in The supercilious affect of the receptionist The […] fetid smell in the hallway on my floor, betraying the hotel’s likely previous incarnation as a single room occupancy rooming house (or my early 20s when I had to live in my car) The view of the cinder block wall out of my hotel window The parking gate on the next-door garage that didn't work at 11 PM which forced me to park two blocks away The lack of street parking within blocks of the hotel (you will enjoy the endless loop of driving around the neighborhood to find a place to park when the gate of the garage that the hotel doesn't actually own doesn't work) The minimalist "continental breakfast" that promptly evaporated at 9:29 am Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good location and the bistro downstairs it's nice however the hotel was in poor conditions. Room was small and in the back so could hear the garbage being dropped. "Noisy stay marred by room service overcharge"
Having eaten lunch before at the restaurant downstairs and seen the attention to detail of the decor, I had high expectations for my one-night stay at the O. Unfortunately, I was disappointed on several fronts. First, having asked specifically for a quiet room, I was wakened one at about 3:30 am and a second time at 5:30 by garbage and recycling trucks […] making one of the loudest noises that this native New Yorker has ever heard. Secondly, upon checking out, I found that the charge from the restaurant for my room service delivery the night before, where the delivery person failed to bring a receipt, was inflated by about $10. Finally, several pieces of equipment in the fitness room were not functioning. I could have forgiven all of this but upon mentioning these issues upon check out, I was told by the desk manager that (1) she could not help me with the overcharge on my room service and that I would have to contact the restaurant on my own; and (2) I should have requested a different room to address the noise problem, never mind that it was the middle of the night before I knew I had a noise problem. When I suggested that the hotel waive the mandatory $12 per night charge which covers the fitness room access and free internet (I could not establish a connection and had to use my own cell phone to create a not very effective modem), she told me that she did not have the authority to do that. In short, I spent 10 minutes providing detailed feedback in a polite and non-aggressive manner and got zilch back other than wasting my time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Terrible experience"
The floor (and we went into more than one room) has a generally dirty feel to it. Light/white carpets do not belong in a hotel room. By the time they've been walked on with dirty shoes, wet feet and worse, they just look old. Second, more than half the rooms face a concrete wall. The hotel should make you aware of this BEFORE you check in! The bathroom […] was way too small - no counter space whatsoever (a 2 inch glass ledge behind the cool but badly designed washbasin does not constitute counter space) so you end up leaving your toiletries on the desk. The shower, while cool (and no, I didn't have the splashing water problem) is just not designed well. The Hansgrohe Axor shower fixture was disproportionate to the rest of the room (wallpaper peeling off, rusting towel rack, dirty grout and bad lighting). Internet - make sure you have a CAT5 pluggable - who the heck doesn't have proper WiFi these days? And 16 channels on the oversized TV, 8 of which were sports? But the worst problem was the noise..you can hear EVERYTHING. On the floor above us was a very noisy person or group that insisted on sliding the bathroom door closed CONSTANTLY (sounds like furniture being dragged) and stomping at all hours. I can't blame the hotel for noisy guests, but I can for crummy acoustics. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The room was very nicely decorated. Was just like the pictures advertised. Shower does not have a tub but it works. However what didn't work was the AC man I turned it down so low and it was barely blowing room temperature air terrible! Also, I requested a DVD player in my room before I checked in, at check-in, & about 30 mins later when I went out […] for the night and Nothing! no DVD player was ever brought over to me. "Third world standards"
I would never stay at this hotel again. The room stank, and no amount of opening the window or running the AC would clear the smell. The AC/fan unit made loud noises whenever it was turned on. "The O-Hotel - “O” I will never stay there again"
The front desk customer service representatives assumed I knew my way around and never offer directions to my room. I had to ask for directions to my room. Even though the facility seemed clean, it had a stale smell throughout the building and my […] room. "Do not stay - awful rooms"
The room was tiny, musty-smelling, and the window was feet away from a concrete wall outside (so the room was extremely dark). As soon as we checked in, we called the front desk to complain about the musty smell and dark room, and the front desk told us all rooms were like this, unless we paid extra for an upgraded room. They clearly do not train the […] employees at the front desk for customer service, as they were extremely rude and unaccommodating. Daily parking (with in and out freedom) is $20, which is fairly standard for LA hotels. The "free continental breakfast" is a total scam, as they only put out a few items, which are gone by 9am. The bathroom has this ridiculous shower door that doesn't cover anything -- so the entire bathroom floor gets flooded every time you shower. If you must stay in downtown, opt for the Standard, but avoid this hotel at all costs. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
