I took a chance on the Elan after reading other reviews. The very best part of my stay was the wonderful, friendly, professional staff at the Elan. The free accessible internet, both in the room and in terminals in the lobby lounge, and the complimentary breakfast and evening wine service just adds to the value of the already well priced room. On your next visit I would like to recommend a room on the courtyard side of the hotel or a room facing south which would have more lighting than some of the other rooms. Recently we replaced all of the artwork in the guest rooms and I am pleased to announce that we are in the final phase of upgrading our current bedding package which includes replacing the current bed skirt, adding additional plush goose down pillows, a plush goose down duvet, bolster pillows and a comfortable throw at the foot of the bed. We are also in the process of replacing our nightstand lamps. Once everything is in place this will give the guestrooms a great new look. I look forward to your comments once you see the new package. If you plan on bringing and using your cell phone while at this hotel, think again. It is very difficult to find a signal anywhere on the property and it's often very intermittent when you do. I regularly had to walk a block down the street to be able to talk on my phone. As I was in town on business, this was a disaster. "Sweet Boutique Hotel in Unique Location"
Love the Elan, which I've stayed in twice so far (I'll be back). Was just there in early April 2011 and found the rooms and hallways had been updated with paint and new decor since my stay last summer (2010). I had a nice king-bed room with small balcony overlooking Hollywood Hills. Stay on the street side and risk traffic noise--I prefer the quieter […] side at the back. Staff here are courteous and always greeted me by name. One of the best perks of this small hotel in the middle of West Hollywood is the breakfast, a nice assortment of cereals, bagels, sweet rolls, boiled eggs, yogurts and fresh fruit. Plus coffee, juices and teas. All provided with your room rate. The nice lobby has tables and couches overlooking Beverly Blvd., offering a good view of what's happening outside. In the evening, there's wine and cheese, enjoyed by the guests who gather in the lobby to compare tips on restaurants, shows and museums. I love the European style of the hotel. The free wifi in the rooms, plus computers and a printer in the lobby (good for printing out boarding passes). Location is excellent. Just across the street is Jan's Diner, open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. and full of neighborhood characters eating matzoh ball soup and excellent omelets. Just up the block is the Beverly Center and a smaller "mall" of discount clothing stores. Sunset Blvd and Melrose are a short drive away. I was traveling for business and location was important - very good for a New Yorker. I had no problem walking to The Grove, Robertson Shopping, etc. I was on foot mostly, the rest of the time I took an occasional cab. I needed a car to transport me to meetings a few times and the hotel staff was quite helpful finding me professional and pleasant drivers. The bed was fine,as was the bathroom - good hair dryer and lighted mirror - very clean tub. The staff was low key friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the lobby, which was a nice surprise - although I can't eat bread, pastries and cereal, they did have apples and bananas, OK yogurt and coffee. There is also a little 'happy hour' at the end of the day - I was working, so only managed to get there once - but it was quite nice to sit and relax with a glass of wine and decent cheese. Alt i alt et rigtig fint hotel, der ligger rigtig godt! Parkeringen er super effektiv, men beklageligvis ret dyr - men det er den nu generelt i LA, så det er ikke kun dette hotel. Personalet er meget søde og venlige, og selvom den medfølgende morgenmad er simpel, s er den glimrende, og nok til at starte dagen på. Nabolaget er ikke secielt kønt, men […] trygt, og godt begliggende i forhold til Hollywood og Beverly Hills m.m. Og det ligger lige ved Beverly Center, så kan i lide at shoppe, er dette også et godt sted at bo. Men alene den hyggelige atmosfære på det lille hotel, samt den rigtig søde service, er nok til at anbefale hotellet.
