Located in downtown Los Angeles, the Historic Mayfair Hotel is within blocks of the Financial District, Garment District, and Los Angeles Convention Center. The hotel is also close to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Staples Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Nokia Theatre.

Built in 1926, the Historic Mayfair Hotel features a large, marble-floored lobby, which is decorated with ornate columns, wingback armchairs, and tropical plants. The hotel offers a daily buffet breakfast served in the casual atrium restaurant.
Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel and a computer is available in the lobby. Onsite parking is available for a surcharge. Event space includes a ballroom and can accommodate up to 225 guests.

The location of the hotel was great with good access to transportation and only a short distance from downtown. I really enjoyed my stay at the Mayfair. The staff was friendly, I had no real mechanical problems (the Internet was a bit hit-and-miss, but I called the front desk and I think they just restarted the router and everything was fine), and my bed was comfy. I opted for the smallest room they had because I really just needed a place to sleep and shower, […] so it was perfect for me. House keeping came by at 9 in the morning, though. Luckily I was already awake, but I would have been really annoyed if they had woken me up. The price of the room was ridiculously lower than other neighborhood hotels - probably because of the neighborhood - but I was on the 12th floor and none of the on-the-street shenanigans affected me. There's several buses that stop directly across the street, so getting to downtown and then to other regional destinations was incredibly easy, and the staff was very helpful in giving transit information like bus schedules and fares. I would highly recommend the Mayfair for someone who just needs a place to sleep. The hotel has a beautiful lobby and a facade reminiscent of historic downtown, but doesn't offer anything fancy like a spa or pool. Oh, and there's a parking structure! "Walk to Staples Center & 7/11 next door"
We stayed here for a Lakers Playoff game. We took a taxi to Staples Center and it was a flat rate of $10. After game we hung out at LA Live, then walked back to hotel. It was like a 15 min walk, not bad at all. 7/11 is right next door which was very nice and convenient. However, the room was another story. We paid $12 for parking, the beds were not […] very comfortable, the bathroom floor was old and a bit gross, and when we checked out, they made us wait for someone to check if everything was ok in the room!...what was that about?! "Not as bad"
It's not as bad as people make it out to be. The rooms are small, the AC didn't work, and it is ghetto outside. Other than that, the hotel is nice, clean, and classy for its price. This is a historic hotel. I stayed in a mini euro room. This is not a five star hotel but I don't spend my days in the hotel room so it suited me just fine. I got a great deal booking online with Ex..p..d..a. and would stay here. I had a conference at the convention center about 7 blocks away - easy 20 min walk. Area is older but I never felt unsafe. […] This is not East LA so don't be afraid to stay here and save a few bucks. Taco truck 1 block down had some of the best local food on the run including gyros, fresh sliced fruit/veggies. I had read some different reviews for this hotel -- rather mixed. I have to say that I was incredibly pleased with my decision. It is safe, clean and incredibly affordable, especially relative to competing options. The staff were remarkably friendly and the room was very comfortable. The hotel was just down the street from L.A. Live and the Staples Center, with off-street parking which was manned with a guard 24/7. This made me feel really safe parking our car overnight. The lobby is clean with an historic character and friendly staff. The room was clean with nice quality toiletries; and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. The overall experience was good, the hotel itself was not that bad, the location was great for our stay. I was very disappointed in the lack of space in the room, i was charged for a 3rd adult and the room was so small, there was only 1 pack of coffee for 1 cup, and not enough towels. I was expecting a room & extras for 3 adults if I payed for 3 adults. […] I did not understand why I was charged for parking if i was staying at the hotel, i feel there should have been validated parking for tenants, when we stayed in Las Vegas the parking was free for hotel guest. Thought a vice nice job was done on refurbishing this very old hotel to current looks, which is an experience that I always enjoy. I have stayed at many old hotels redone and they had done a very nice job with this one. Really enjoyed the room. There were not sports channels, Fox Sport Net, ESPN, etc. and very little in terms of movie channels. "A QUIET PLACE TO STAY IN A BUSY CITY"
The hotel is very convenient for exploring downtown Los Angeles and only a few blocks walk to the Metro Red Line 7th/Metro stop, shopping and within walking distance (if you like to walk) to the L.A. Live area, Nokia Theater, Staples, etc... There may be "fancier" hotels in downtown L.A., however they are way, way more expensive and probably don't have […] as nice a staff.
