"Fascinating Contrasts"
The staff is wonderful! In our room there was a well maintained bathroom, new TV, and a very comfortable bed. However the ceiling was falling in from severe water damage and the carpet was damp in one area. The hotel staff was extremely helpful with any requests or questions that I had. The hotel itself is based in the perfect neighborhood for safety and public transportation. "WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!"
Please do yourself a favor and do not book this hotel. I have never seen this level of rudeness and arrogance in any kind of previous customer service interactions around the world, and never in hospitality industry. We booked multiple rooms- all PREPAID rooms with 2 double bed as we needed to sleep 4 people per room. Our rooms were still given away […] and not held for us. We had requested for an early check-in at 1:30 pm, but due to traffic we reached at 4 pm. We were told that our rooms were given to other people since we did not show-up at 1:30 PM. What non-sense!! upon asking why we were not pre-informed/told about this so called "policy" as "you did not ask"! The option given to us was so called "upgrade" with 1 king bed suite. It had an extra sofabed, but sofa mattresses were broken. They had run out of "rollaway" beds as well, and could only offer us 1 rollaway bed. The most frustrating part was that customer service we received from the staff and the supposedly manager "on-duty" away for the "weekend". THEY DIDNOT CARE. The Manager on Duty finally showed up after us insisting. He exchanged few words with front desk in Korean and gave him a pat on the shoulder (apparently for selling our rooms at higher prices to other party). The staff kept rolling eyes at us and even said that he can roll his eyes as mucha s he wants. We checked in this hotel just because of some family business in Korea Town and really appreciated the close proximity this hotel had provided. But that's it! I will not recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't have anything to do in Korea Town (LA) since this is a pretty much run down hotel. No matter how much the room/hotel has been cleaned, the […] old musky/dingy smell were there under the strong cleaning supplies odor. They also have a $50 refundable deposit policy upon check in which didn't make sense at all since our room came with all the broken fixtures, like cabinet handles, lamp shades, shower curtain. "Affordable and clean"

After trying to tell me that I purchased a smoking room, I showed them the receipt which indicated the opposite. They told me they had no non-smoking rooms left until after I made a scene in the lobby. The ice machine on our floor was broken the entire time but was making a lot of noise. The fridge had old food inside which no one cared to remove before we moved in. No problems with the hotel itself, it did the job. My only complaint is that it definitely needs an update (old furniture/bed linens/tv) but I did want to note the neighborhood is a bit sketchy and there was quite a bit of traffic to get in/out of the area (I stayed here to go to Universal Studios about 6 miles away). The tv also only receives mainly infomercials or Korean channels so, I wouldn't count on watching any tv other than on your own personal device. The TV di not work, Luckily I spent most of my time at The Wiltern. But worse, the A/C was worthless. The rooms were not up to par with cleanliness. Their was dirt in the grout of the tiles in our room. It had a welfare smell to the room. Where we had to open up to air out while in the middle of a rain storm. Towels were not in the room when we checked in after 4:00. I've been to other good Ramada Inns, but I was really disappointed with this stay. First off, we got a smoking room when we asked for a non-smoking, so there were stains and burn holes all over the place. Not to mention, there was mold and mildew stains on the bathroom floor and around the tub, definitely didn't feel sanitary. The one big negative issue I have is that this hotel should go by the name "Ramada Inn Wilshire" and not "Wilshire-Silverlake-USC" as it is currently listed on Expedia. I mistakenly assumed that this was the Ramada that existed on Silverlake, the property that is now a Holiday Inn. The Ramada at 3900 Wilshire has some parking issues. The above-ground […] lot is fit only for compacts; the underground lot is holds larger vehicles, but if you stay at a busy time, it fills-up early, and nearby street parking is extremely limited. Also be aware that punching in the access code at the electronic gate may require a bit of acrobatic skill if you are in an SUV. The WIFI connection was pretty slow. "Absolutely Horrible Experience!!!!!!!"
The elevator was not working...very difficult to take luggage to our room and back to our car. Air conditioner was not appropriate for the size of the room. Extremely uncomfortable during stay......first night could not sleep until 3 a.m. Unable to take a nap during the day due to heat in the room. The first day I attempted to check in at around 1:00 pm. Was told by I believe a Mr. Le, that I couldn't check in until 3:00pm. Then was told by same person that for $40.00 I could check in early.
