"Clean and Simple"
This was a one night stay for me and my friends before our hotel for a conference. It was clean and comfortable. The man at the front desk was very helpful- from towels to food recommendations. "Probably awesome in the 50's"
We arrived around 4 to check in. The bar downstairs was extremely loud, but I was happy I was able to get a drink before we left for the show. I went up to the room and when I walked in I contemplated walking downstairs and saying no thanks. It was pretty rough. The smell of old bum was strong in the room. Old and extremely outdated. Stopped into the […] bar to have a drink on my way out. Locals were scary and mean, bartender sucked and ignored me for 10 minutes, then when I asked for service she very short and rude to me. "Location, location, location"
Nice room, lucky enough to get on the 10th floor - we had an amazing view. Kinda shabby elevator and walls, but clean and inviting. Stayed here with a friend for a fun night out in downtown... we chose it specifically for it's location which was perfect, right in the heart of downtown and close to most everywhere you would want to go on a night out on the town... but the hotel itself is old, dirty, and poorly maintained. "DISGUSTING"

I don't know what kind of hotel these other reviewers have been going to, but it is not the same hotel I've actually stayed at. This hotel was clean. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned the age of the furnishings. They might have been old, but the hotel was kept spotless. I did not see any roaches or bugs at all and I stayed for 4 days. Some […] reviewers have also mentioned no wifi. But the hotel signs clearly state that wifi is in the lobby. And they have plenty of seating for you to use. There are two restaurants and a bar connected to it, which solves the breakfast, lunch and dinner issue. One is called Uncle John's Cafe (Chinese and American Diner food) and the other is GIll's Indian Restaurant (Duh, Indian food). The food at both places was amazing and I highly recommend you try them both. Also, there is 24 hour Ihop two blocks from the hotel. And there is a sports bar across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave me numbers for reputable cab companies and showed me where everything was. The hotel is about 3 blocks from the 7th street stop on the Metro. You can go sightseeing on Hollywood (Just take the train to Hollywood and Highland). Hotel is also 2 blocks from a supermarket. My room was equipped with a mini fridge which I filled with cold drinks from the market. It is also close to the convention center and the Staples center.
