This experience was pretty bad and dare I say "scarey." I was actually worried to stay in the motel and almost opted to go down the road to the Holiday Inn Express. This is the most horrible of places that I have EVER rented, and I travel very frequently. I would NEVER recommend that anyone stay at this hotel. The room was dirty, and the decor was terrible. I overpaid for this room for sure.

This hotel is what it is and it is not a problem if we paid a relative price. The fact that it was a special weekend for the city meant that they jacked up the price and because of this, our expectation was obviously not met. In other words, the quality we got was in no way at the level of the price we paid.

During our stay, the hotel was reasonably clean and the staff was not an issue; however, we had a HUGE issue with the safety in the area. Firstly, there were no chain locks on the doors, a definite neccesity in the motel setting and area. During our one night stay, at 4:05am our door was beeing banged on and rattled by some blazing drunks. don't ever stay here... Rooms are old, beat up and smell. Bath falling apart. Smoke alarms go off because bath fan can't vent the humidity from a shower. No wi-fi despite this being promised. Beds uncomfortable, sheets blankets like horse hair. Atrocious.

This hotel is the best buy in Poughkeepsie. A hotel is usually a function of the staff and this hotel would be rated a 6 on a scale of 1-5 if available. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and most hospitable. The rooms I have stayed at are always clean, and provides all of the usual needs. The price is very competitive and the location is perfect. It is located 10 minutes from Hyde part and the FDR national landmark, 2 minute walk to Samuel B Morse federal Historic site, 5 minutes by car to the largest Mall in Dutchess county (Galleria), 5 minute drive to Marist College and 7 minutes or so to Vassar College.some of the finest restaurants in NY STATE are also with 10 minutes of this hotel, including the culinary Institute of America, where some of the best chefs in the world have been trained (they offer 4 of the finest restaurants in NY). We were there for my son's graduation. The owners were VERY NICE. Breakfast was very basic, doughnut, 24 hours coffee, tea, bagel, When you turn the hotwater, cold water comes out, and when you turn knob for cold water, hot water comes out. The bathroom knob is not working, but they fixed it right away. The microwave is far from the outlet.

The Hotel is conveniently located to Marist College, that's why we booked it. The bed is pretty comfortable, but the blanket is very thin and worn. 24 hour offering of tea and coffee in the lobby was nice and the staff was very friendly.

The Poughkeepsie Inn is a single-story motel off a commercial strip. Each room has one picture window overlooking the sidewalk in front of the room (and your car). So modesty requires either that you stay fully dressed, or that you close the opaque curtains -- there are no translucent sheers. My Wife and I stayed in August, 2011. Checking in, the front desk person was short and more concerned about talking on her cell phone than checking us in. Seems the day attendants are both like that. Motel was sooooo old. Sink counter was peeling. Desk was chipped. Box spring was stained. Blanket was dirty. Arrived at the room in 95 degree weather at 10 PM and A/C was not on, so room didn't cool down until about 2 AM. "Breakfast" was danish.

My husband and I only had to stay here one night and we are thankful of that. There were a few hotels in the general area and it was only a bit cheaper than the others. Well, it should have been a lot less. The FIRST room had to be a joke because there is no way they would actually expect someone to sleep there. You were immediately struck with an overwhelming […] stench of mold/mildew. Room had obviously not been cleaned or used in quite some time. There were cobwebs in the corner and an overall skeevyness to the room. Granted the room had those plastic drinking cups but they weren't even covered with plastic. Also the people in the room next to us had obviously moved in as they had their own bedding and TV. We immediately asked for another room. That had at least been cleaned but was still not good really. Basically the bed was real bad and when the person in the room that was adjacent to us started the shower at 5:30am it was like a jet engine was being started in the parking lot outside our room. One of the worst night's sleep we have ever had and that includes my 1 week stay in a hospital bed with a broken jaw. Hotel also claimed to have hair dryer, iron and ironing board. All of which we needed but were not there. Not even traces of these items. BTW, the only ice machine is in the front desk of the hotel. Do yourself a favor and for $20 more, stay at any number of the other hotels within a stone's throw. Read more
