"Small gets a new meaning"
Its small room the service its purpose. There are no places to eat within a mile or so. Not even a McD's. Really. You are near the airport so occasionally you hear a plane taking off. Trying to find the entrance is per heck. You have to drive through the back of a commercial building parking lot to get to hotel, where then again, go through another […] maze to get to the main doors. This is a no thrill place. Then there is the so-called "Continental Breakfest." Stale bagels, kid size muffins (I think that is what they were), white bread, a toaster that didn't work, 2 bananas, an orange drink, coffee in packets and out of date yogurt. Now for the room. When I got in the room, both (yes two) bulbs were burnt out, no clock radio, but it was clean, no bugs. Surprisingly it was quite. FYI: If you want to get back on expressway, turn left at entrance, then another left and again left at stoplight. Its about a block away and the easiest way. FYI: For food, turn left at entrance, go straight on Denmark until Yankee Doodle Dandy about a mile. There are many places to eat around that area only. FYI: Smashburger is very over rated Wendy's. $$ EX: .75 extra for the cheese for a cheeseburger. Had Cheeseburger and over salted dried out fries w/drink just under $10. McD's is better. "Clean and Cheap, but..."
I always enjoy microtel because they are very affordable and I've always had a very clean room. This hotel was no exception to either of those, but fell short on several other factors. First of all, bring earplugs as this hotel is very close to an airport, not only could we hear planes at all hours, but we could see them from the window as well. The […] breakfast was pretty standard, but the setup was in one narrow hallway; and since the breakfast is only available until 9:30 it was always jammed packed with people. Also, if you don't have a GPS, study the area around the hotel on a map very closely, there is only one entrance off of a main road with a divider in it (so no left hand turns) and then the driveway is thorugh a construction area. This was most definitely the smallest hotel room I've EVER stayed in, but it served it's purpose. We were just looking for somewhere to sleep after attending a concert. The room reeked of cigarette smoke--probably my fault; when I booked the room, it stated it was 'smoking' and I thought no big deal, MN doesn't allow smoking in hotels....my mistake. The Pros: -Good neighborhood -Fairly near restaurants and MOA -Price -Room was clean and had new paint -Airport Nearby but exterior sound proofing was good. The Cons: -Bed was defintely NOT a queen (it was more like a full so very uncomfortable for two adults and a toddler). -HORRIBLY noisy maid service, they would bang around the doors, talk extra […] loud, and sound like they were demolishing the neigboring rooms at 7:30am EVERY morning for the 5 mornings we were there. -VERY thin walls so had to listen to other rooms TVs and arguments up to 1am in the morning, just to wake up to the maids bright and early. -Didn't honor request for refrigerator or top floor that was given two weeks prior in booking. -No coffee maker! Hotel was very clean. That's the good news. Toilet would not flush and door to room would not close. Door to bathroom would not latch or lock. Door to adjoining room would not open. Had to tell front desk three times on two different days to get all fixed. We stayed three nights and when we left, once again toilet would not flush. Front desk staff were […] unhelpful and annoying. When we told of problems only shrugged. One morning getting free breakfast, one of my children told front desk no more coffee. The thing that most bothered us was the smokey smell in all of the hallways - even the ones that housed non-smoking rooms! We were pleasantly surprised, however, that our hotel room was very clean and did not smell. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. "Ok, but very thin walls."
Clean Room, aside from minor mold in the bathroom. Friendly Staff Cont. Breakfast was banana, toast, baegel, muffin or frozen waffles. Major issue was extremely thin walls.
