Room was very clean and had a small kitchen that was fully stocked with plates, pots & pans, silverware, glasses, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, full sized fridge, etc. Our room would have slept 6 comfortably. Casa Del Mar is a good value for the price. Can sleep up to like 5-6 so great for a family and since it has a kitchen and fridge you can save a lot of money on meals you can cook yourself instead of going out to eat.

Bedroom was a bit odd as it was a very small separate room with bed pushed up against the wall. Our stay at the Casa del Mar in Galveston, Texas was a lovely experience. The room was very clean, well-appointed, and quiet. We had a seaside balcony that afforded a lovely view of the Galveston Seawall. We would NOT hesitate to stay there again. The only down side of our stay was that the ice machine on our second floor was not functioning on the […] Friday of our stay. On the Saturday afternoon, the machine began to work again, but to our consternation, the CHARGE for the ice was .25 for about a dozen pieces of ice!!! How chintzy!!! I did not like the layout of the living room, you only had the couch to set on to watch TV, one chair non reclening chair not enough room to move to front of TV. Bed was against the wall so my wife had to scoot down to the foot of the bed to get off.

Wonderful as always. The ONLY down side this time was a lot of people in the pool area being rowdy and vulgar. Primarily unsupervised teens. We had to keep moving our 6 year old away from the unsavory behaviors. Not sure why security (always present thankfully) did not address the blatant violations of posted rules.

For what it's worth you get a room within walking distance of the beach; the rooms are well laid out, with a master bed for the adults and twin bunk beds for the kids. The pros: Generous room size, relatively clean. The cons: Paper thin walls, noise carries through easily

Pros: Great location, nice view of the gulf. A/C was LOUD, but worked really well. Unlike most places I have stayed in Galveston, this Casa Del Mar had clean, well vacuumed carpets and floors. I had no fear of walking barefoot! Nice landscaping, pools clean and well maintained. Good water pressure in the shower and the toilet flushed with no issues! […] Lots of happy families staying there. Ample parking. Nice staff. Elevators that work, although a little slow. Cons: Terrible, inadequate blackout curtain in the bedroom --- outside light shines right into the bedroom! Problem solved with the duct tape I always carry on trips . . .Cabinet fronts were also very dirty. I washed them before I could work in the kitchen. Laundry facilities were marginal - two dryers did not work at all. Overall, Casa Del Mar was very reasonably priced and a really great place to stay. We will stay there again, and will be happy to bring kids and grandkids. Galveston has really transformed itself since Hurricane Ike. Lots of refurbishment and restoration of businesses and homes. Beaches are clean, prices are reasonable and the Gulf is beautiful! Read more

Great view of McDonalds. Other reviews of check in policy are right on. Cannot check in before 4 PM. Room smelled musty; we found that when the room above us used shower our ceiling leaked. Found roach in kitchenette. Seriously needs updating. First time I have heard of a hotel that charges for ice!!!! I don't think I would stay again.

Casa del Mar is easy to get to and located close to the beach! It's great if you want to walk on the seawall or lounge on the beach! The bathroom could have been cleaner and the furniture needs to be upgraded but it was fine for my me time get away!

We were pleasantly surprised with this property. It was well appointed and served our purposes nicely. Roomy enough for the four of us to be comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. A couple of maintenance issues, such as several burned out light bulbs and peeling wall paper in the bathroom BUT very clean!

This place is good for families. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds. The kitchen was small but has everything you need except dishwasher. The suite can sleep 6, so if you have a big family, this place is good for the money. The location was nice was it was close to Moody Gardens and Pleasure Pier.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was was very comfortable. The only thing about this hotel is the check in. You absolutely can not check in before 4. So a long wait was had by all at 4 for check in. My suggestion is if you are booking this hotel. Don't bother going up to check in until 5.

We stayed in the suite and found we had plenty of space for 3 adults. However if we had more people with us it may have become more crowded. Everything was clean. The look of the hotel is a bit dated but in no way did that hinder our stay. The front desk was helpful with a late checkin. We had no problems during our stay.

Outside needs updating but the rooms are clean and in good repair. The pools are cleaned daily and for as many people that stay there it is a well run hotel. The kitchen unit makes all the difference with a family. Easy access right across the beach and then come back in to rest after you have had enough sun.
