Love the accomodations at this hotel...bathroomsare superb..lighting fantastic..bed linens heavenly. Only complaint is that the rooftop bar doesnt open until very late in the evening around 5pm daily and food choices in restaurant are not substantial. More like health food. I would like a good steak added to the food lineup.

Over all everything was fantastic! The bar upstairs was beautiful overlooking Galveston. I would like to request refrigerators to be in the rooms since we had nowhere to put our anniversary cake.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tremont House. The staff were friendly and helpful. We hit Restaurant week and the cafe in the hotel had the best food for $10. We ate there three times in the 2 days we were there.

Visited the Tremont as a couple on a weekend get-a-way. The hotel is very beautiful and full of character however if you look closely it needs a good cleaning. We had a standard room that faces into the hotel atrium. The room had plenty of space but was a little dingy. The bathroom countertop had stains, there was grime around the baseboards and we […] even found a half eaten cereal bar in one of the nightstand drawers. Looking from the room window into the atrium the molding over the door was dusty. Not a huge deal, but not the view I wanted either. If you are on the 4th floor ask for a room away from the hallway that leads to the roof bar. We heard drunk people coming down our hallway past midnight. The best part of the room is the towel warmer and the lovely high ceilings and ceiling fans! The staff is exceptionally nice and the hotel location is perfect for the Strand or cruise ships. You will pay to valet, but the valet service is extremely quick. The hotel needs a good cleaning before I would give it 5 stars. Read more

We loved it!, the reson I gave a overall rating of 4 is I was disappointed that we wern't allowed to smoke @ the "open air" roof top bar...seams a little over regulated. Smoking is leagle in Galveston. Thought this mihgt be useful to your smoking customers.

The Tremont […] House gave us a room on their top floor, but also left a welcoming anniversary card with a cracker, fruit, and cheese plate, along with a bottle of wine! It was such a nice gesture. The rooms and lobby are very cozy, especially on a cold night. The Star Bucks is a nice touch too. When we got in our room, the window would not lock and it opened onto the roof of an adjacent building. I went to the lobby and they changed our room immediately. The maintenance guy was in there working on it before we could even get our stuff out. Good […] service. The wife and I took our two kids (11 and 13) just for a one night escape. We walked two blocks and had a nice dinner on Post Office street. We went to the town square and enjoyed the Christmas lights and music. We had ice cream and watched the laser light show on the big wall. I offered to take everyone to Moody Gardens and the all REFUSED and said let's go hang out in the room. Parking is rediculous. $17.00 to park is extremely pricey. I can understand charging a fee but $17.00, give me a break. This does not include a small tip. The hotel itself and the service was great for the price thru hotels.com.

Beautiful hotel. Doesn't really have a restaurant, more of a cafe but breakfast was good. Didn't try dinner but there are so many cool places on the strand to try. Only complaint would be that you have to lug your bags up the stairs when you first walk in. If there is an elevator there it isn't obvious and they don't tell you about it. The room was nice but not worth the expense. The bath was rather plain. The Rooftop bar was nice but overcrowded because they invited non-hotel guests. Parking was paid parking on the streets. You had to drive several miles to go to "The Pool". Overall I would rather stay somewhere else on Galveston and drive to the Strand.

Great Hotel, staff was very nice and the roof bar was a added bonus. The one thing we were very displeased with was the mandatory 18.00 a day valet parking. Guest should not be forced to pay for valet, there should be self parking.

Great place with character. Access to a more urban Galveston experience rather than a beach focused one. High class service without being snooty. Only complaint is that since they host a lot of wedding parties it can be really loud in the halls at all hours of the night and early morning.

I had an interior room with a window into the atrium. The room had no easy way to block out the light and sound, so this could be a problem if you're a light sleeper trying to get to sleep early. My only other complaint was the poor water pressure. But, really, these issues are just part of the experience of staying in this historic old building. Was in a great a great location!! Staff very helpful and friendly. Historical and walking distance to night life and shopping. Only downfall was no coke machines in the hotel and only one late night place to eat.

The room was beautifully decorated and furnished although small. The hotel is nicely close to the strand and downtown shopping, museums, and attractions but there's a lot of empty buildings in this area. We always felt safe walking - no panhandlers. The van will take you to the Galvez if you want to use a swimming pool because the Tremont has none. […] Didn't use the restaurant except for a mediocre breakfast. Bell service was slow but Valet was fast and helpful. Reception desk is small, phones ring constantly without being answered, and front desk staff seemed more interested in talking among themselves then working with customers. Otherwise a nice hotel. My stay was great. everything about the hotel was beautiful. the preservation of this hotel is just breath taking. However I do have back problems and the mattress was soft in the middle. In the evening the roof top bar was soft and inviting while the piano bar in the main lobby was relaxing and the music would take you back to better times.

Beautiful lobby and the roof top bar is great for happy hour. The rooms are large. The bathrooms were the only small disappointment. They were clean but didn't fit with the charm of the rest of the hotel.

The hotel was amazing. Service was superb. Food was excellent. The only drawback was there was no on- site pool. They did offer shuttle service to Hotel Galvez if you wanted to use the pool there. Also the spa services at Galvez were awesome!

Only problem was one desk clerk who was moody. One nice valet knew how to use sign language, which was helpful. I think the cleaning staff could use a better vacuum for the hallways. The bar manager named Mr. Putnam was very friendly. We love the lobby cafe. Food prices there were very reasonable. Unrelated, we love the new parking meter system.

It would have been helpful if the clerk who checked us in had reviewed hotel amenties with us or if these had been described in a booklet/brochure in the room. The hotel is as lovely as ever. The valet service gets an F- They had said "give us 5 mins. After 3 or 4 different excuses, they showed up with the car 35 mins later making us late for a wedding event.

Food from room service was left out in the hallway over 3 hours. The noise from the bar kept my wife awake one night. Empty cocktail glasses were left on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. The cafe food was good and the staff was friendly. It appeared that they were under staffed. The room was nicely appointed.
