The atmosphere throughout this huge hotel was kind of creepy and smelly. Dated furniture throughout - needs modernizing desperately. Gave us a handicapped room, though not requested. Bathroom floor had huge stains and shower head was not installed correctly. Advise you to stay at another hotel in this area - there are several.

I was there for work. Keep in mind I had to work at night and sleep during the day. When we checked in about 30 bikers checked in after us. The next morning they all left but not all at once. From 6am - 8am they left in 5min increments. We went to the front desk after they left and asked to be moved to the other side of the hotel where they told us […] that the bikers had left and we didn't want to be moved to the other side of the hotel because the freeway was loud over there and the drunks stumble around from the bar next door. The room appeared to have been cleaned, but upon closer inspection, one of the Queen beds appeared to have been slept in and the sheets not changed, there was even a little blood on one of the pillows and on one of the sheets. Booked this hotel based on the good reviews but they were really misleading. I liked the staff and location of the hotel. However, the maintenance of this place is disgusting. Pros: restaurants, other hotels, and the freeways are close by. Cons: mold on bathroom ceilings and room ceilings. Although a non-smoking room, still smelled of cigarette smoke. […] The breakfast room is located in the back of the hotel and there aren't very many clear signs on how to get there. Our overall experience was nice. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. We had a problem with the refrigerator, but they came and fixed it right away. The coffee pot in our room needs to be replaced as it seemed as if it had had better days. My only challenge that I had was when I was leaving. There are bums that sleep in the bushes outside […] of the parking lot. This was a bit scary as one came up to me and my daughter and started ranting and raving about my almost backing up into him. We also saw a bum couple walking in the parking lot and another bum who was obviously high on drugs as he was talking to himself as we were looking for the continental breakfast. The room was very unclean - mold in shower, edges of carpet had not been vacuumed. The first night we had 1 wash rag and 2 bath towels. The second night there were 0 towels but the front desk had towels delivered shortly. Unfortunately, the towels were still damp. We don't mind an older business but do expect CLEAN.

Very old and dirty sheets and mattresses. Curtains with holes big as a fist. Worst of all, the tub was dirty with mold here and there. The hotel looked well from the outside but was a total disappointment once in the room. The swimming pool opened late and when it was open workers were trying to refresh the paint around it.

This hotel was one of the hotels that you do not receive the name of until you have already booked and paid for it. Expedia advertised it as a 4 star hotel. It most certainly was not. My teenage son and I were in Bakersfield for the State Cup Soccer Tournament in April, 2011. We had called ahead, requesting a standard room with 2 queen beds. Elliott at Hotel Rosedale said that was not a problem because we were calling him a couple of weeks in advance of our reservation. Checked in, no standard rooms with queen beds were available. […] The only room he could give us was a room with a king bed and a sofa sleeper, on the 2nd floor, overlooking the front parking lot. The sofa sleeper was too uncomfortable to sleep on, so my teenage son and I shared the king bed. It's an older motel, cottage cheese ceilings in the rooms and the hallways. The whole appearance of the motel felt like a 2 star or 2 1/2 star motel. I'm really surprised Expedia has this motel rated at 3 stars. That's just wrong. The complimentary breakfast was disappointing on both mornings. Waffles, juice, coffee, tea, cold cereal, toast, small pastries, and some fruit. It should have been fine, but somehow wasn't. My teenage son and I ate a couple of the small pastries, had some orange juice, and that was it. Both mornings. Take a look at Expedia's list of a dozen or so motels in Bakersfield that are rated with 3 stars. Compared to the rest, Hotel Rosedale sticks out like a sore thumb! Read more

The entrance of the hotel was decked out but turned out to be a facade.
