History buffs will appreciate Fairfax, once caught between Union and Confederate forces. Monuments to this Civil War heritage include the Fairfax Museum, the Confederate Cemetery, and the Blenheim estate, where stationed Union soldiers wrote poetry on the walls. Nearby, the National Parks Service preserves the Manassas National Battlefield, the site of the Civil War’s first major land battle.

"Great location at a great price!"
I like everything about this hotel including the staff!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's okey for 1 night. The lobby, hallways look dark and dull. Needs an update. Internet access is not free.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was fine until Sunday morning when the power was turned off, not the hotel's fault. Also they put flyers out Saturday night. I also reserved a smoking room and upon arrival there were not any. Kind of cold outside to smoke - but thats where I smoked.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great room, comfortable bed and very quiet. It's the second time for my visit, and I'm sure I will be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The stay was fine, very comfortable. Only negative is the WiFi is not free. Most hotels provide this service and was surprised that with cell and laptops part of most families luggage, not convenient to charge a fee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes Thank you for going out of your way to share feedback about your recent stay at our Hyatt Fair Lakes. It's great to hear how much you enjoyed your large, comfortable room. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again!
We have a couple compaints about our stay: 1. The pool was only open 5-10pm, we went down to swim at 9:30 and were told we couldn't swim. Then no swmming the next morning. We inquired why? and were told Virginia Law says no swimming w/o a lifeguard on duty. I have never heard of such thing, and I stay at hotels ALL the time, so we checked that out and […] it was falsefor hotels pools in Virginia. 2. $9.95 for in room internet at a Hyatt, come on!! There are many other hotels that offer much more than we got at this Hyatt. There's alot of competition out there and you won't be ble to compete with this lack of amentities even if you have the Hyatt name. We probably would not choose to stay at a Hyatt again. "We'll stay at the Mariott next time."
Watch out for the elevator area and the elevators since people coming from the pool drip all over the floor and no one from the staff wipes it up. There are no fridges in the rooms unless you get a suite. Also, the breakfast isn't complimentary. You also have to pay for wireless if you have an ipad or anything equivalent. There is no airport shuttle. […] Don't plan on getting any sleep if you stay during the weekend...because you can hear anyone coming down the hallway and the slaming of the doors. Other than the room being nice, I would not book again at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Impressive facility,Disappointing human resources"
It was very nice. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in was a bit noisy because it was next to elevator motors. Also, the restaurant was closed the evening I wanted to get something to eat. We were told that we could order at the bar, but it was very difficult to get them to wait on us. Also, my grand-daughter didn't get to go swimming because the pool […] closed at 6:oo PM. "all night sexcapade not addressed"
If you travel as often I do you will eventually encounter noisy neighbors in the room next to you. Unfortunately, for those of us who need to respite, whenever we stay in a hotel with paper thin walls, and the couple in the room next door goes on a two night sexcapade until 4 a.m., your purpose for going to that hotel is futile, and your money spent […] is wasted. The desk manager after personally hearing the ruckus, offered me a cup of coffee and said, "we are sorry for your convenience." Certainly, there was more that could have been done, other than for my wife and I change to another room, if he cared. I am livid and this Hyatt hotel has lost guests who are "considerate of other occupants" forever. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"great rate thru hotels.com (but no fridge)"
excellent in every way since I got a very nice rate ... if I was paying the full rate I'd want free wifi and a fridge in the room. It's weird that lower cost chaing can give wifi and fridges in king rooms but the Hyatt doesn't? But bed, TV, housekeeping, front desk all excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Not the greatest room ambiance--noisy a/c, popping noise from windows and blinds, stains on sofa, wallpaper in hall beginning to peel at seams. Staff and cleaning service were responsive and accommodating --very good. Would still recommend the hotel for the location, parking, and staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Place"
The room was clean, very well laid out and nicely decorated. The bath area was roomy and the shower was FABULOUS! Felt like I was getting a massage...I didn't want to get out. Breakfast from the restaurant downstairs which we had added to our total when using HOTELS.COM website for a small $10 was not even worth the $10. The staff was not available, […] the layout was confusing and the food, although a beautiful spread, was either blah or simply bad. The kicker to breakfast was it turns out, had I not added that meal at booking, I would have had to pay $35 for it. WOW how they think that meal was worth that amount is beyond me. But all in all, I hope to get the opportunity to stay at this Hyatt again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Only If You Must"
I travel consistently for my position, and am a frequent traveler in several programs. I usually don't write reviews unless especially good or bad. This hotel is fine, the price was right (weekend special - went to a jimmy buffett concert) and room was ok. Front desk service was fine but the service in the restaurant was awful, and I mean awful. There […] certainly appeared to be enough staff, the restaurant, although full, was small but our wait staff was plain awful. Let me set the scene so you understand. Four of us at a table, 3 need coffee, one needs something else. Our wait staff came to the table, poured one coffee and left. Went and put the carafe back on the shelf. Not a lack of coffee, just a lack of.... well, you fill in the blank. This happened three times - one coffee refilled per visit, and the other beverage required 4 reminders. We started joking about the Seinfeld "soup" episode, substituting coffee. Thank goodness the breakfast was a buffett or we'd have starved. It was $16.95 though. What a joke. Go to this hotel to sleep only. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice, clean, friendly staffed hotel for the price"
I stayed here for two nights and had a decent experience. It's located in a good spot off the highway, near a mall and restaurants. The parking lot is a little confusing as you come in, you're actually in the back of the building. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a little tight between the toilet and the door and a couple outlets […] in the room didn't work. But going downstairs to the bar and the restaurant, the staff was very nice and attentive. Not afraid to help in any way. The gym was nicely furnished although I wish that the pool was open earlier than 5PM. My only downside is that while I was in my room on the second day, someone was smoking in another room and the smell travelled through the air vents so I had to contend with that for a couple hours until it cleared. "Not to Hyatt standard"
I was surprised to know there was no fridge in the room. You have to pay $15/night extra for it. They charge your credit card $40/night as "incidental" charges. They say they will refund it but I haven't seen a refund yet. This would mean if you stay 7 nights in that hotel they hit your credit card with $280 additional charges and if you have a balance […] on your credit card, you'll have to pay credit card interest on that amount, which is not refundable. I wish I knew that before i choose that hotel. Their Lost and Found Dept has voice message only and you have to leave a message, but they never return your call. I had to go back to the hotel for a bag that I had left in the room and was finally able to talk to a person from that dept. In general i would say the stay was not a good experience. Lots of bells and whistles but no substance. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. I am disappointed to learn that your stay did not meet expectations. We do assess a fee for a refrigerator. This is $15 for the entire stay and we do waive the fee if the refrigerator is required for medical purposes. When a guest checks in we do require a card for incidentals. If a guest is using a credit card a hold is placed on the card. Nothing is actually charged to the card it is simply an amount held. Upon check out if there are no incidentals or damages the hold is released on the card. I will be sure to share your comments on trying to reach the lost and found department. Your feedback is important to us. We hope that we can have the opportunity to welcome you back to our property in the future.

"Great hotel for the price. Would stay again."
My family and I were in the D.C. area for a wedding and chose the Hyatt Fairfax because of its location and because one of our children had stayed there a month earlier and said how nice it was. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and our stay. We loved the layout of our room. Instead of the 2 beds being next to each other they faced each other […] with the TV situated in between which gave more of a sense of privacy from the kids. The only complaints we have are that the shower/tub drained very slowly, to the point that while taking a shower the tub would be at least half full by the time you were done. The othe complaint would be that our room service order for breakfast was not picked up off of our door and my wife had to take it down to the front desk. Once given to the front desk the order was filled promptly and was delicious. In conclusion it was a very nice hotel for the price and I would not hesitate to stay there again. The Hyatt was a very nice hotel. The only issue that I had was that the walls were so thin. You could hear every word spoken in the next room and hallway. It was like the the other guests were right in the room with you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Families, watch out for the room size you choose."
For a Hyatt Hotel, I would have expected a few more amenities included in the cost of the room for the price you pay to stay there! I could have found lesser establishment that offered Free Wifi along with a fridge and microwave in the room for a lesser amount. Charging $15 dollars a day each for a fridge and microwave is pricy for a family trying to […] get away for a few days and see DC. The room was called a double bed deluxe room that would suit 2 adults and 3 kids, but the room was pretty small in the square footage area! Very nice lobby area in the hotel, but they should have put a little more thought in the size of its rooms. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great price for this hotel"
Great hotel for the money. Breakfast was incredible. The bed was ultra comfy. Two room suite with a king and double bed. Bathroom was very small but adequate for two people. The location was perfect for our trip to wolf trap concert venue. There are a lot of food choices within five driving minutes, and a Starbucks and whole foods within walking. Construction […] makes navigating confusing but the hotel gave excellent directions. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
