    The hotel was in a good location, close to the train and the major areas in Philly. They were all walkable distance, however the neighborhood didn't... feel so safe after 10pm. As for the room, it was a small size compare to most hotels. However, it was just my boyfriend and I. Therefore, for the space given, it was a decent room for just the two of us. Not so great if it was for a family trip. One downside was the internet. For the price we paid, we did expect to have free wifi, however there was a subcharge which did sucked. by a Hotels.com guest on 04/06/13

    As a Hospitality consultant, this place was a filth hole. A dark dated and dirty Lobby Greet the guests with a dirty shower, sheets, towels, mirrors and sink top it off in the room. The room has cheap plastic cups and the amenities are so small I could barely wash my half bald head. The room had paper thin walls with connecting doors that rattle every […] time a door is opened. The cleaning staff will just walk in without knocking so lock the doors. The concierge was the front desk personnel. Polite but not trained to answer questions. Parking is an additional $48 per night and they double billed me. Stay at the Marriott around the corner. It is newer and clean but still the same staff issues. Read more

    The hotel was quite lovely. The room (a king) was comfortable and clean. I like the modern and simple design. The bathroom was quite large, which is nice for a city hotel! The bed was really comfy and the heating/air conditioning was easy to adjust and only turns on when you come in the room. I really appreciate the hotel's efforts to be a bit green. […] We got a $10 voucher for the bar/restaurant because we told them not to change the sheets and towels during our stay. The staff were very friendly and one waitress at the restaurant (Kristen) was especially lovely. The location is really convenient and central (a 20 minute walk to a lot of sites). It's a bit on the border of the really nice Center City area (just on the other side of City Hall and close to a small park) so it's a bit more isolated, but I never felt like it was dangerous. Found the staff to be polite, gracious and knowledgable about nearby neighborhoods and things to do. The neighborhood itself doesn't have a ton going on but it's centrally located which is great and across the street from the the state house which is an amazing building and there was plenty of food options and the like that were totally walkable.     We decided to go to Philadelphia for our 45th anniversary and spend two nights at a 4 or 5-star hotel. We selected Le Meridien. The location placed us right downtown, but still walkable to Penn's Landing. Although the building is a historic landmark (and thus looks so), the inside was beautifully renovated in a chic, trendy style. If you like overstuffed […] sofas and a "Ritz Carlton"-like setting, this is not the place for you. But if you appreciate great contemporary European design (furniture, art, color palette, ambience, sound track, dining, bar), then this is the perfect hotel. The guests are young, but that's cool with us. Other folks in their 50s and over might not like it. There were some foreign guests all in black, a few wedding parties with giggly, well-dressed young ladies and not-so-well-dressed young men. The young guy on the adjacent bar stool used some crude language, and his friends challenged him about it. We had a good laugh, but then the F-word came out a few minutes later. Wish the bartender had hushed him but we were leaving anyway at that point. This is not about being old or young, just having bad taste in a public location. For everything else, we were treated wonderfully and respectfully (no "hey, guys" welcome) by staff young enough to be our kids. We had a superior room (10th floor) so it was larger than what we had seen reviewed. The furniture was a little austere/trendy but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We opted to forgo housekeeping service the next day, making up our own bed and keeping the towels--which earned us a $10 coupon for use in the bar or restaurant. The shower stalls apparently have a design flaw--they leak onto the floor--which will be soon repaired. A tasteful decal alerted us, so we were able to sop up the small spill.
