Response by Le Meridien Philadelphia Thank you for your feedback. Our building certainly does have historical significance as it was built in 1912 to serve as the Central YMCA, later serving as the home of the District Attorney before being carefully brought into the modern age. I am saddened to read that our modern over classic style failed to connect with what you were expecting and hope you will stop in again when in Philadelphia.
"Location isn't a substitute for a dirty room"
There were hairs all over our room - the sink, the bedspread, the floor, the pillows - and it appeared to be a really shoddy cleaning job. The room was a tight space, barely enough room to walk on the other side of the bed next to the window and my wife and I had to contend with hitting our heads on a "mod"-style lamp. The bed was made with an ill-fitting […] flat sheet, not even a fitted blanket, and only had a bedspread for a cover - no sheets. The shower was nice, though, and the staff were fine. I'd give high points for the location, but that's more my contentment with Center City, not this hotel. And they nickel and dime you on everything: internet fee, exorbitantly priced parking, even a plastic bottle of water was pricey. Check out the other hotels south of Market Street. If you get a deal here, you're going to pay for it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Le Meridien Philadelphia Thank you for your comments. Your feedback will be used to ensure we work towards providing the finest guest experience in Philadelphia. I appreciate your acknowledging the shower and staff were fine, but certainly apologize that the room was not cleaned as well as it should have been. Our beds are made "european style", without a top sheet, simply a duvet and throw blanket. I understand this wasn't to your preference. Should we have the opportunity to serve you again, we would be delighted to make your bed in a traditional style you are more comfortable with. Thank you again for sharing your experience, Evan - General Mangaer
"Not What It's Cracked Up To Be"
It would have been fine at half (or a third of) the price. Completely lacking in the kinds of amenities typically found at other luxury hotels. And then a $10 surcharge for internet? C'mon.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Mixed feelings"
First, the positives. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Also, the front reception/ front desk team was efficient, pleasant and knowledgeable. However, these positives were negated by the fact that I left my Men's Warehouse suit protector in the wardrobe and it disappeared without trace. I would be hesitant to come back again if I was traveling […] with valuables. Thnx Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Customer Service"
Customer service was sadly lacking; we were not given clean glasses, for the 'bar' or the bathroom! We were two adults, with one bathrobe to share? Our bedside lamp was broken, and not fixed during our stay. Very disappointing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the best experience"
Rooms are small. Not in the best neighborhood. Drove up and gave my keys, keychain and all to the parking valet. Left two days later and got my keys back, but not my keychain. The parking valet had stolen my keychain. Did notify the front desk, just to let them know it had happened. Not that the keychain was all that valuable, but a reasonalbly upscale […] hotel should have better control of their staff. I guess I should be lucky they only stole the keychain and not the car. "Not what I paid for"
My reservation was for a Deluxe Double with an extra roll away. We paid for the extra person. When we checked in we were told the hotel could not put a roll-away in their deluxe doubles. No aplologies, no explanation as to why they had accepted and confirmed the reservation. We were given a king size bed and roll-away at the foot of the bed. Had to […] walk sideways. Horrible! also barn door closing to bathroom means NO privacy. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Le Meridien Philadelphia"
Very bad service. No doorman to assist with luggage yet there are many stairs. Not conveniently located at all. Found human hairs on the ill-fitting mattress pad. Poorly vacuumed room. Mattress sunken. White sheets were yellowing. Bottom sheet only. No top sheet-so you are expected to sleep directly beneath the comforter. No extra pillows in room. Cheap […] IKEA-esque furnishings. Un-lined wastebaskets. Areas behind night stands not vacuumed. No ventilation fan in bathroom. Trying really hard to be a chic boutique hotel. But the whole point of chic boutique hotels is that because they are small and independent the services are- or should be- impeccable. At this place they are only interested in appearance. You know- big light fixtures and streamlined accoutrements, perfumed air. But the rooms are very small. Feels like an SRO- which it was- it used to be a YMCA. Services are non-existent. The doormen seem to double as parking valets so a door attendant may or may not be available. If you have a lot of luggage you are on your own. There is no bellman. No one even greets you. You enter into a bar. Luckily they do lend you umbrellas since they didn't even have the good taste to put an awning from the entrance to the curb- which- by the way- you will need to stand at to get yourself your own cab. Hotel is not convenient to much of anything. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"NOT RECOMMENDED"
I normally stay at the Sofitel when in Phila. I thought I'd give this hotel a try but get what you pay for. The service with in the hotel was friendly--up till I was checking out. The front desk clerk- never asked how my stay was and did not say anything just checked me out. Never said goodbye, nothing, and the vallet was busy texing on his phone and […] did not help me at all with my my bag. They do not give you a pad or pen to write with . The bed was comfortable but the room was cramped, you could only watch T.V. from the bed. Do not order the creme brulee from room service, It was not creme brulee- it was some sort of coffee pudding and not very good at that. The other food was very good. I will not be staying there again. Very bare amenities. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Parking"
They have a horrible valet service. They park your car to a far away lot and it says on your card it takes 20 min. It took them 1 hr to bring back my car and the guy in charge was extremely rude and unapoligetic!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient but poor service"
The location of this hotel is its strong point: close to arts and historic districts. But the hotel is right next to the DA's office and community court services, so there are some tough characters near the door. Our porter at check in was excellent. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff and service was no where near as good. The room was never cleaned […] during our stay and room service was very slow. Not a child friendly hotel. There is no ramp access to the front entrance so parents and those using wheelchairs either have to lug a stroller up steps or go around the corner and downstairs to an elevator and request special access. The decor is odd. It's a beautiful historic building ruined by a modern bar at the front door and modern European decor in the rooms and common areas. Service throughout our weekend stay was virtually nonexistent: no housekeeping or assistance with stroller at entrance. The front desk seemed ill equipped to handle most basic requests. A very disappointing stay, particularly given the hotel's price tag. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Le Meridien Philadelphia-Buyer Beware"
After checking in the first day midweek, the overall quality of the service fell off noticeably, but the worst part came when checking out. I was floored to find that I had been charged over $38 a day for parking for the five-day stay. This was without any hint of this hidden charge when reserving the room, at check-in, or when the car was actually […] turned over to their valet service. I have stayed in a number of nice hotels in big cities without ever having experienced this. When I brought these issues to the attention of the main manager after checkout he said there was nothing he could do about it and that their rate was the lowest in town, which was patently untrue as I could have easily arranged for parking at a 1/3 or even half of this rate nearby. Not only would I not recommend this place to anyone, I would go out of my way to recommend that no one stay here.
