Way overpriced, not in a good section of town, no parking, people screaming all night. The heat doesn't work and shower leaked water everywhere. I should have stayed at the homeless shelter next door.

We didn't expect a lot as we needed to cut costs, but we were pleased with the very helpful staff and the cleaning the room received each day. We felt safe and nights were usually quiet. The breakfasts (cereal, muffins, fruit juice, coffee) were good and supplies were refilled often, reducing the cost of the stay. The Travel Lodge was better than first appearance. It's across the street from the Philly Convention Center, and about 2 blocks from the Market, as well as a couple blocks from Chinatown. If you are having an event at the convention center, this place is RIGHT across the street. It's a no-frills sort of place-- nondescript hallways, room, lobby. The elevator was broken the ENTIRE length of my three night stay but someone at the front desk helped me bring my stuff upstairs and downstairs each time. Plus the more exercise the better! The […] bed was comfortable and I had requested a room with a window and got one. It's a small room but its just myself so I had no issue. Other people had whined about the location next to a homeless shelter but it's not as if there are tons of homeless people lying about-- I only saw some folks a couple of times. Yes: parts of this hotel are strangely designed, but the excellent staff makes up for any shortcomings. In our first room (avoid 408!), the window looked out onto the hallway, the sink was in the bedroom & the adjoining door to the next room allowed us to hear every word our neighbors spoke (they were strangers, so this was uncomfortable.) Though it was Memorial Day weekend & the hotel was booked solid, the manager on duty wiggled us in to a different room. Awesome! I can't say enough great things about the staff: they were amazing. Ian helped me print a document (from his personal email account, no less); every single staff member was friendly & knowledgeable about the surrounding area & they made every effort to be accommodating. As for previous reviewers' comments about the surrounding neighborhood, I have to ask: why does a homeless shelter next door mean that the neighborhood is "sketchy"? In these tough economic times, aren't we now aware that lots of different kinds of people from different economic backgrounds are homeless? Let's stop using stereotypes to define what being homeless means. Maybe my perspective is skewed because I live in an urban area, but "sketchy" shouldn't be equated with "I saw a lot of people of color". Manager was extremely friendly and helpful and there was continental breakfast included. Room was just fine for a one night stay. Parking was not provided and I ended up paying $23 to park a block or so away.

Hotel is just behind the convention center near market east station and a short walk to city hall. The staff was very helpful. Rooms were clean but smelled too strongly of deodorizer.

The map shows several better hotels within a block. Unfortunately one has to stroll a bit longer than would be expected to reach the convention center enterance. The street veiw on Google earth appears OK, but there is a halfway house adjacent and the residents smoke on the street a few steps away.

The hotel is located next to the city center and Chinatown. It is a very satisfied location. Other hotel nearby cost much more than it does. The price is relative low, and the quality is not bad. If you are going to find a hotel which won't cost you a lot but have a great location and acceptable quality, this one is suitable.

The hotel had very very small rooms and lumpy beds. They appeared to have crammed two beds into a room designed for just one full. The bathroom was also very tiny. It was on the back side of the convention center and not a very good neighborhood. Appeared to be a transient lodging right next door. Would not recommend.

I was looking for affordable accomodations while I attended a conference, and the Travelodge was fine for that, but if you're a person who needs amenities--refrigerator, full-length mirror, iron--this is not the place for you. In general I think it is a good place if you just need somewhere to sleep. The place is nice, but if you have money and want a great vacations or something, better enyoing somewhere else. Teh building is nice, clean. It is located in a kindda scary area. Outside in the street, there is always a lot of people just standing out there, without doing anything. […] I think they work nearby. Sometimes they are in groups smoking and chatting. But I think is safe. You are not going to have a nice view at your window because there is like a factory in front of the building. There is just one elavator in the building, and it is kindda slow. Hotel rate was more expensive than a much better hotel next door. I stayed one night only and it was the worse hotel experience I have ever had. We were not able to sleep at all because of the noise of being directly across from the front desk as well as the incredibly thin walls where I endured an incredibibly long night of the person in the next room […] snoring, loud tv watching and every other noise you can imagine.
