Distinct neighborhoods comprise this pedestrian-friendly downtown. Family-run stands serve international cuisine at Reading Terminal Market in the Convention Center. The steps immortalized in Rocky lead to the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Museum District. Upscale shops and restaurants surround Rittenhouse Square. Funky boutiques, restaurants, and bars draw an eclectic crowd to South Street

Walked into the hotel. Man behind the desk was on the phone. There was no parking outside of the hotel to unload your belongings. I had to wait for almost five minutes before the gentleman helped me! I asked where the parking for the hotel was. It was over four blocks away! We walked our luggage the whole way! There was nothing wrong with the cleanness […] of the room. Our room was right next to the elevator. This was horrible! It was very loud! The walls were very thin! We could hear every word of the people in the room next to us. The hotels parking only gave a discount for 24 hours. Two days cost $46. Everything was easily accessible. Within walking distance. Overall the stay was average. We would seek another hotel if we came back in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charmless"
If you like a small, open plan hotel where drunken conversations in the lobby at 3am sound like they're right outside your door -- ditto the noisy tour group departing at 6am -- then this is the place for you. Women traveling alone will find that it's better to approach the hotel from the 13th street side so they don't have to run the gauntlet of men […] hanging around smoking outside the two missions next door on Race Avenue. The picturesque view of the alley behind is just a bonus. In its favour, I'd say the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Room Tip: I'd hope that a room back in a corner would be quieter, but doubt it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to city-center"
Rates were reasonable, and the location was actually very good. By far the cheapest place to stay if you're looking to be just a short walk away from all the sights. The staff were all very kind and always willing to help. The hotel itself was a little dumpy though. Rooms were small; the bed was terrible; the shower had some weird water pressure issues. […] The worst part was the WiFi. It didn't work at all the first night we were there. At that point, I had wished we had spent a little more money to go somewhere a little nicer. Bed was comfortable. No fridge or microwave in the room. Room was small. But ok for the location. House keeping was RUDE!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was VERY small, with no window to outdoors, just to a hallway. Parking was extra, in a garage almost 3 blocks away. The staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful, but would have been nice to know, up front, about the size and parking issues.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"not a good family choice"
The AC in the room was broken, and they couldn't resolve it. They gave us a fan the 2nd night. Neighborhood is very sketchy, wouldn't stay again for that reason as well as the ACGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wouldn't stay again"
The hotel was located in what seemed a sketchy part of Philly behind the convention center. Our room was alright (enough to sleep in) but the shower didn't get very hot and our A/C didn't work the 2nd night of our stay. It never got colder than 80 degrees, which was rough on the 4th floor. Wouldn't recommend staying here. Would pay the extra $20-$40 […] per night to stay somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"no parking included"
I think it would be good to let the guestknow that there is no parking included in the room rate, we had to pay 25$ per day to park, the elevator was out and not running the whole weekend, I will not be staying there ever againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
In most rooms the only window faces onto the hallway. Our first room was directly across from the registration so you heard people coming in all night. The staff was very nice and moved us to another room the 2nd night. The price is very good but I should have spent a bit more and gotten better place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Noisy Plumbing"
Overall the hotel wasn't bad. It was in a great location. It was pretty clean. The ceilings were really high and gave you a feeling of spaciousness The free continental breakfast was basic but nice. The problem was the toilet/plumbing system in our room made noises all through the night. It was such a disturbance to my sleep.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Room in lobby!"
My room was in the lobby, directly across from the reception desk. There was a window from my room facing the lobby, albeit with a curtain. As a result, I heard people coming and going all night, in various states. Despite my request for another room as soon as I realized my situation, I was not moved. I made this reservation several months ago, and […] should not have been stuck in the hotel lobby. I am very disappointed with my accommodations and am going to complain further. "It's ok"
The bed sheets smelled like urine and the location is next to a homeless shelter. It is right across the street from the convention center. The service was good. I recommend asking for new bed sheets. The bed sheets were stained and smelled especially the cover.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"unsatisfactory"
Our experience did not start of well. When we arrived they split our party to two different floors because we had not "specified" in our reservation that we wanted to be together. The room was very small, and the walls were quit thin. The sink was across the room from the bathroom, and the closet was a pole hanging above one of the beds. Our room was […] directly across from the hotel dress and we could hear all conversations from the lobby and the room next to us. We could even hear water running throughout the night. One of the day staff was very nice and accommodating but overall the staff did not do a good job at making us feel welcome. Breakfast was okay, only muffins, instant oatmeal, bagels, and cereal. The coffee was not great, and the orange juice was out on our first morning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wrong side of the Convention Center"
The map shows several better hotels within a block. Unfortunately one has to stroll a bit longer than would be expected to reach the convention center enterance. The street veiw on Google earth appears OK, but there is a halfway house adjacent and the residents smoke on the street a few steps away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good deal for center city -- for a reason"
Nice staff member. Not the nicest hotel in the world -- but otherwise center city is going to cost at least twice that amount.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not impressed"
The hotel is next door to the Saint John's Hospice. The neighborhood is very unsafe and dirty. Piles of trash are all the way up to the Independence Hall. The room was very small with watermarks on the ceiling, and the carpet was so dirty that you can not tell the original color of it. The continental breakfast is coffee, juice, bagels, and corn flakes; […] if you are an early bird and go to the basement earlier than 7:30 am. "As Expected"
This is a no frills hotel. Our room was in the lobby and it was disturbing having guests talking at reception. The beds were uncomfortable and pillows were terrible. The room really needs updating, but were clean. The continental breakfast was minimal, but fine. Location was convenient to historic Philly. Parking was an extra $10 overnight at a lot […] a few blocks away. Will not plan to go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel was ok. They didn't even have a common refirgerator. Room was very small. Although the staff service was okay, the neighborhood was very unsafe.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wasn't bad but won't go back"
i didn't like the neighborhood and parking was very inconvenient. the bed and liner was unpleasant - reminded me of some cheap motels. The price was a plus but for the next time, i'll spend some more to stay at a better one..Genuine Expedia guest review
"Travelodge- Philadephia- mediocre"
Do not stay here until the construction at the convention center is done. Being right next to the Philadelphia Convention Center, I wasn't expecting such a run-down street. It might get better in time, but it was definitely not the nicer part of Philadelphia. A small hotel, convenient to Chinatown and Reading Terminal. Front desk folks were nice enough, […] but the hotel had overbooked rooms with 2 double beds, so we ended up having a room designed for handicap accessibility with a queen bed and a roll-away. Basic, reasonably clean, no frills and a bit old/shabby. If you are just sleeping for the night it is marginally OK. The neighborhood was not very pleasant, and it definitely colored my son's first-time visit to Philly. Nearby parking in unattended lots was expensive - so we parked in a garage about 2 blocks away for much less, but had to lug our stuff to and fro. No place to pull up outside the hotel to unload and check-in. I recommend spending a bit more and staying south of City Hall toward Rittenhouse Square. Nicer area, more restaurants and shopping. "Pay the extra!"
Parking for this hotel was about a block & 1/2 away & is not a great part of town & the hotel itself is next to a homeless shelter. I would not have walked around this area at night with my kids...for sure! it does however seem to be located in the middle of everything we wanted to see, so, when we parked the car, it stayed in the garage for a couple […] days. Reading Terminal & City Hall are around the corners & then the historical sites are a couple blocks in either direction. We were unpleasantly woken at 3:45 am to banging on the wall from a headboard & LOUD noises.....which I only hoped my children slept through! (to be fair, the hotel staff did tell us they were asked to leave, when we asked to move rooms!) The staff was nice- breakfast was meager, we generally went over to the Amish restaurant in Reading Terminal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price, but..."
The positive up front - I got a good price, they allowed me to check in early, since I was coming off an over-night bus. A short walk from the subway trip, and a clean room. However, the plumbing didn't work well - no water out of the shower, and the toilet didn't flush. Some of this was fixed, but not in a timely manner. Internet only worked for five […] minutes at a time. The room had a mirror facing onto an internal hallway only, no outdoor window. And the biggest joke was the "continental buffet" which was literally some old muffins and some cornflakes in disposable bowls... Just call it "snacks", don't insult people... Would it be so expensive to bring some fresh bagels and cream cheese at least?

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
