The room was perfect and the hotel staff was great. We had a problem with our television (NCAA basketball tournament time is no time to have the tv go out) and they brought up a new tv with in 10 min of our call. The wait staff at breakfast were great as was the food. When I come back to Philly I'll definitely stay here again.

Room was immaculate, front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Pool/Spa was closed for maintenance was only disappointment. We didn't patronize the hotel restaurant because the Reading Terminal Market is literally steps away. With all its wonderful options, we could have a different cuisine for every meal for a week more!

I travel for work extensive, and frequently choose HIlton properties. I must say that this property is about as sub par as I can imagine for Hilton property. We are currently in the middle of a 3 night stay. The first night, our room for 4 people only had towels for 2 people. This happens sometimes, and we understand it. But when we called down for […] more we were told this was a "known problem" and they didn't have enough for the entire hotel. but if we called down in the morning they could get us some more. What? And now tonight we returned to the room after a long night out and discovered that they didn't clean our room. When we left in the afternoon there were 3 or 4 chamber maids servicing all the rooms around us. And for some reason they didn't service our room. The "do not disturb" sign was NOT on our door. They simply forgot to service the room. I know this is going to sound like sour grapes, but I've never left such a negative review before, and . I'm just so shocked by how poorly this property is run I had to say something. I really like HIlton properties (I'm a hilton honors member). If this is a franchise hotel, Hilton should be reviewing the status us this franchisee. Read more

I've never been in a hotel were the other tenant are very inconsiderate they were making lots of noise in the hallway they thought they were in the park and when I complaint to the managemente all they offer was free breakfast maybe the management think that with giving free breakfast everything was bling to be ok. It's near Chinatown and train station/metro station/bus station. It's a little old. Towels and other furnitures have signs of over-usage. Overall a comfortable place. Has it's own pool and gym-though not very big. Free wifi is provided.

With 2 kids this place served its purpose. We had the junior suite (mistakenly, I thought the king bed is in a room seperated from the hall - pics in website are misleading). We asked for a rolled bed so the kids slept one on the sofa and the other on the rolled bed. We were very close to the spa area which was preferable w/kids but got noisy at nights […] from people running and loudly talking in the nearby corridor. Ask not to be placed on the 7 floor or at least not at the spa wing. Thanks giving dinner at the hotel was surprisingly good, very good. The hotel, room and pool were clean and in good condition. Staff was unprofessional and unhelpful, and they ran out of towels when the hotel was at capacity. I was happy with the helpfulness of the staff in storing our bags for a few hours, before check-in was available and after we checked out. We walked around easily. As usual it seems for most hotels, there were no towels available in the evening at the pool. Their P.A. system worked very well to inform guests about a false fire alarm.

Stayed here for Philly 1/2 marathon. Location was right across from Expo and along race route. Easy walking distance to start/finish. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was expensive but easy in/out. Clean facilities and room.

Great value and great location. Easily walkable to Independence Hall and the historic sites. Very clean and the staff was friendly. Rooms were comfortable but could use some fixing up. Thermostat looked like it was 30 years old and didn't work that well and the A/C was loud.

Overall, Hilton Garden Inn has a convenient location because it is within walking distance to shops on Market Street. It is next to Reading Terminal Market and close to Chinatown where a variety of food is offered. The restaurant on the 10th Floor is comfortable and the food is good. Coffee, tea bag, milk, sugar, stirer, mug, glass are set up for two people only. I have to let Front Desk know we need an additional mug/glass for the third person and more coffee/tea bag supplies. The next day, we did not get more supplies. Finally, we get them after talking to the housekeeping supervisor. It would be helpful for the Front Desk to let housekeeping know when we check in that adequate coffee supplies, mug and glass should be placed in the room for all the guests staying in the room to use. This Hilton Garden in was a good value for being in Center City Philadelphia. We didn't have much time to do tourist attractions, as we were visiting friends, but it is right next door to Reading Terminal Market, across the street from the Philadelphia Convention Center, and has good restaurants in the neighborhood. The staff was very hospitable during […] check-in, and called to make sure we were satisfied with everything in our room about an hour after we checked in. We found everything clean and in good shape upon entering the room. A very comfortable bed (we had a king room) with plenty of space and good sized bathroom. The only disappointment was with check-out; we do not believe the hotel staff should have asked us to rate our stay as we handed in our keys and then ask why we rated it in such a way. It was very unprofessional and we would have much rather gotten a card to fill out which we could do without pressure and give our candid thoughts. It is a poor policy of the hotel to ask their staff to do this upon check-out. We have stayed at other Hilton Garden Inns and did not have this same experience. It made a somewhat uncomfortable and sour end to our otherwise good stay there. Read more

Overall stay was very pleasant - great location in central Philly with WAWA right across the street. Only issue (BIG ONE!) was that I was charged for a full nights stay on my credit card that I had left for incidentals even though room was paid in full through Hotels.com. Spoiled the experience.

The hotel was very convenient for families who need to find great food. The Reading Terminal Market is right next door and Chinatown is right around the corner! We walked to the Franklin Institute (.8 miles) and had a blast. The sofa bed was the only complaint. The springs were actually IN the mattress and the mattress was on top of a "sling like" contraption. […] My daughter had to sleep with us in the king bed. The best part of this hotel is its location. Everything is a short walk and the Reading Terminal is right next door. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only not positive --and this really wasn't a negative -- is that the lobby is not at all inviting and the entrance to the hotel is under a bridge and is dark and gloomy. We circled the block twice […] before I found the parking [it's in the Convention Center Parking Garage, but is poorly marked for the use of the guests at the hotel. If you are driving this is easy to find, has a close parking garage (although parking rate in the city are outrageous). Love the close proximity to reading market and center city. Nice staff, big hotel but great rooms with super beds and linens.

We stayed here and loved that it was soooo close to Reading Terminal Market. We had breakfast and lunch at the Market. This place is also walking distance to the the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Service was excellent too. We returned to our room late after a Phillies game and kept hearing doors slam down the hallway (some younger kids were staying […] on that floor). We called the front desk and they upgraded our room and moved us to another location immediately. Great customer service. Rooms were large and clean. My sister and I stayed two nights here and were generally satisfied with the hotel. We came in after dark and had to drive down a seedy-looking dark street, which made a somewhat questionable first impression. We were able to find the hotel easily. The tunnels over the streets that connect buildings make for a dark first impression. Kept us from walking […] around to find dinner. The restaurant closes at 9pm, which was unfortunate. In the daylight, however, we found the location not so intimidating. Close to downtown market, which was neat--however, they also close early. Staff very helpful and friendly. First, I'd like to say upon arrival our room smelled of cigarette smoke. Front desk advised our room was over the garage it could come from anywhere. I advised we'd go to the pool if better later than we'd stay. Needless to say it was worse, plus it had room freshener to cover up. I called desk again, advised we didn't feel we should have to move. She […] agreed and sent security to rooms on either side of us. I must say, it solved the problem. That's why I graded a 4 for quality of service. She sent up breakfast vouchers (not expected but a very nice touch). I will say the restaurant food (whether for breakfast or dinner) was fresh and tasty and service was upbeat, personable and helpful. We asked for different points of interest and directions over July 4 weekend. The men who cooked our breakfasts are keepers'. Now, the room... sleeper sofa not comfortable at all (even for my 10 year old). Soap dishes caked up, not cleaned everyday. Dusty countertops by TVs, I even wrote "clean me" behind it. Thick dust behind night table. Air conditioner vents filled with lint not even dust it was thick. One day housekeeping asked if they could clean the room we said yes. When we got back later about 3:30, room wasn't done and she told my husband she had no more rooms assigned. We explained it needed to be done and she did. Housekeeping, was messy, left lots of string and plastic wrappers on floors from their carts, and a huge broken down cardboard box on the floor overnight. The amazing thing was we watched no less the four housekeepers' look and walk by it throughout the day/night. On our last morning we were woken up to a fire drill at 8:15am. Good thing the firedrill was in the morning we definately would've tripped over the box. A few guests went out the nearest exit, broken glass in stairs, moldy handrails and were outside across the street by the convention center. Nice and clean rooms and bathroom. Ample rooms. Excellent view. I didn't like the stretch of 11th street where the front entrance is, though. It's kind of seedy, dirty, noisy and dark with homeless people panhandling all over. The entrance on Arch St. is much better yet not creepy.
