"Great Location for sporting events..."
I have stayed at the Holiday Inn many times for sporting events. The location is the best. You can easily, and safely, walk from the hotel to any of the sporting complexes. The hotel was very large and overall very nice. In the room our thermostat didn't work and the door didn't seem to shut completely, the shower curtain was falling off the wall. I have stayed at this hotel before and never experienced this before. There was a baby SCREAMING from 2am to 5am so the parents walked the screaming child up and down the hall what felt like the entire time. There were couples fighting and slammining doors till 1am. Needed a hotel near the airport with a shuttle, this hotel is in very good shape was a great stay and was comfortable, clean and professional. "Nice hotel, avoid the restaurant"
The hotel/room was great. I would caution against the restaurant/bar. Our waitress didnt have a clue and was dressed in leggings and ugg boots (pretty lax uniform for a Holiday Inn I thought). Our table ordered two burger dinners. The waitress brought out my dinner and told my mom she would be right back with hers. At least five minutes went by before […] my mom's dinner came. I also ordered a drink from the bar and there was a beer cap in the bottom. After all of this we got the check and there was an extra meal on it. The food was ok, I went to a bar to eat and got bar food so I pretty much got what I thought I was going to get. Stayed for Philly Marathon. Perfect access to race activities using subway. The best part of the stay was the location. This has got to be the closest hotel to the Eagles and Phillies stadiums. That being said, the service was not good at all. The bar gets crowded on Sunday's and when it did, we didn't get a waitress for over 20 minutes and even after she took our order we had to go to the bar to get our drinks. I booked this hotel because I was told it was within walking distance to the Wells Fargo Center. What they failed to mention is that while it was close to the stadium (1100 feet) it was more than a mile to WFC through deserted parking lots and dark streets. Not fun. And no taxis anywhere, which to this New Yorker was ridiculous. We wound up walking […] both ways because we could, but I think the staff might have warned us, since they knew where we going and I specifically asked how far it was. Ultimately I regretted staying there because of the location. Surrounded by highways. Rooms were adequate. Noting special. No makeup mirror. Room service sketchy. Waiter woke us by banging on our door when we hadn't ordered breakfast. Buffet was pretty good, except waiters were clueless. Gave us no silverware. We had to ask for spoons to stir our coffee.
