Embassy Suites Philadelphia Center City

Not sure how this hotel scores almost 4 stars because it's a 2 star at best. First of all, the hotel is shaped like an octagon which seems fun until you get inside- like a maze trying to get to your room (literally)! The free breakfast is in the rest. TGIFridays which is in the hotel and it's so nasty we could hardly stand eating in there. The floor […] was disgusting in Fridays When in the room you could hear other doors closing on the floor with a big bang due to the auto-door. The clientele, well let's say not the usual Embassy Suites crowd I'm used to seeing. The so-called "gift shop" in the hotel is more of limited vending machine. When people have the front desk hold their luggage so they can come back later they pile up all the luggage by the front door on carts. The hotel room needs to be seriously updated - still stuck in 1990 decor. We ordered towels from the front desk, next thing we know the lady with the towels just came into our room without knocking - she was nice but I thought it was odd. She came back later with more towels and did the same thing. The patio for room was nice but not able to slide door open. Ended up going to 7-11 and buying some WD-40 to put on it to smooth our the slide. The sofa bed - It's like sleeping on 4 metal rods. upside: location is perfect if you are doing the tourist thing . I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and thought it would be as nice as the last time I was here. I thought wrong. They didn't treat me as a good guest because I didnt book the room with them and put me in one of the worse rooms possible which was a wheelchair access room on the lowest level possible. The facility seemed rundown and not clean. Elevators […] were a nightmare. Thank God i was only on the 3rd floor that i just eneded up using the stairs. Housekeeping was not efficient. I would definitely not stay here again the next time I visit Philly. The only good thing they did was to accommodate my special request of getting a non-smoking room due to personal allergies. We really enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The location was perfect. Walking distance to many places. The breakfast was awesome, although the first morning it was crazy busy. Really enjoyed our stay. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. The only complaint was that we had to turn the heat off at night because it was very loud. Also, the breakfast in the morning was insane. It was so crowded. No tables. Had to wait for plates and mugs and it was a cramped area. The staff and the hotel itself were great but there is A LOT of room for improvement with the breakfast buffet at TGI Fridays. A complete mess. Flow of people is poorly managed (if at all), difficult to find a table and navigate your way through the space. Someone needs to figure out the logistics here.

The check-in could have been a little more smooth, but everything else was quite well done. Busing of tables during breakfast could have been done with more speed. Many times the tables were cleared by guests since the staff was a bit slow. We were happy with the proximity to all of the museums that we were interested in.

Hotel had a great price and last minute availability. No pool, so the kids were sad. Great view of the fountain, museum fronts and sunset. This hotel is a great spot for a city weekend. The hotel is close to major museums and the river area. Great location for walking around the city. Nice breakfast included at the Friday's attached to the hotel. Rooms are large and have area to prepare microwaveable items---small refrigerator and sink--no utensils or dishes unless you ask at main desk. […] Nice sitting area apart from the bedroom where a pull out sofa can sleep two. BUT...EVERY room in this hotel abuts an elevator (the hotel is a round structure) and the noise and vibration created from the elevator shaft mechanisms will keep anyone sleeping in the sitting area awake! The staff were excellent, very attentive to our needs. The hotel itself seems dated. The carpets on the floors we stayed on were wet and it gave the hallways a damp, musty smell. They had air blowers running to dry them but it didn't help. Breakfast at the TGIF was OK but had long lines in the morning. The parking was Valet ONLY and was expensive, $44 […] (incl taxes) for overnight parking. This hotel is in close proximity to the Science and Art museums, but unless you like walking, be prepared to take a taxi to see the historic attractions. If you're a family who needs a suite, it's worth staying here, otherwise there are better options closer to Old City. Read more

Good News - Convienient location to Convention Center and Reading Market. It's an easy few block walk. Suite was very spacious and quiet. Bad News - Expensive overnight parking $35/nite. Also found used condoms in bedroom trash can. Room could use a little TLC, new wallpaper, etc.

We have 4 and 6 yrs olds and found hotel great - suites spacious and wonderful to have 2 rooms so they could go to bed and we didn't. The manager's reception every evening was a very generous bonus offered by the hotel. Easy walking distance to downtown and on Phlash bus route so easy to get to places further afield like Please Touch, Franklin Square, […] etc. or to get back to base at the end of the day. As others have said, whilst there is a kitchen, no equipment is provided, so don't go considering this is a self-catering option. I really only have three complaints about our stay. Room cleanliness, the TGI Fridays, and parking. Our room was not in the cleanest state when we walked in. It was a bit dusty and we found hair in the bath tub. There was also a dirty glass with cigarette butts on our balcony. TGI Fridays wasn't the cleanest either. We were seated upstairs and waited […] about 5-10 minutes with employees walking by not acknowledging we were there. I had to walk down and talk to the guy that seated us to get someone to take care of us. The waiter said no one even told him we were there. Food was average and over priced. Finally, we were charged extra for parking an SUV. 39.00! After tipping the valet for arrival and checkout it cost us 59.00, a bit excessive. The location is great, the free drinks and free breakfast were great, view was great. Staff is friendly, was just looking for a nicer cleaner room. Read more

My husband and I came to Philadelphia from Aug.1st to August 4th for a short vacation since we had never been there. We couldn't have asked for a better hotel. It's located in the museum district which is beautiful and safe. The Embassy Suites is very reasonably priced for where it is located and it's just across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel […] which is more expensive. There is a wonderful free breakfast buffet every morning in Fridays which is the restaurant attached to the hotel. You get there simply by going in the elevator to the second floor. The food is fresh and plentiful. The hotel suite was spacious and clean and had a terrace with a great view of Philadelphia. We would definitely go back to this hotel. Read more

Les serviettes, shampooing, café...ne sont pas systématiquement renouvelés. La climatisation est bruyante. Aucun membre du personnel soit disant multilingue ne parle le français. Le parking voiture n'est pas possible pour les minivan. Très bien pour le verre offert tous les jours en fin d'après-midi.
