"great location"
room was clean, nice beds and pillows. the cleaning lady was a snot, she complained about smoking even though i asked for a non smoking room. have to pay for parking but i avoided that by parking in south philly, about a half an hour walk from the hotel. sink was too small, no room to put all of my makeup. awesome location, the main reason i paid this […] much. i was in walking distance from penns landing, dave and busters, many clubs and restaurants. also not too far from south st. "location great, service is lacking"
This hotel is located in a great place for seeing the historical sights of downtown Philadelphia. When we tried to check in to our room at 10:15pm, they said our room wasn't available yet because it needed to be cleaned. We had to wait 45 minutes before we could check into our room. Did I mention it was 10:15PM?!? They did give us free parking to compensate, […] but to me, it was unacceptable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Need real blankets, not just foot of bed covers. Pillows were lumpy. No complimentary water in the room. Danac at the front desk was grumpy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs upgrading"
The heating system must be upgraded. It was either broiling hot or freezing cold; the pillows were ridiculous- not enough, not big enough, and definitely over-used; the sheet and covers would not move from the end of the bed-we did not get a restful nights sleep.Genuine Expedia guest review
"not bad"
the stuff is very nice, the room is very clean, and the location is great. But the wifi is terrible and the room is too cold because the AC is so noisy that we didn't open it...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Budget friendly hotel"
When staying in Philadelphia and since we are on a budget, we usually stay at this Holiday Inn. The staff is nice, except in the restaurant. We have only had one waiter (waitress) who was polite and attentive (and she was the trainee!). The lobby and decor of the hotel is pretty much the same as every other Holiday Inn, except the carpets are kept together […] with magenta duct tape. The rooms need new carpet desperately (very damaged) and the bathrooms need to cleaned! There is a pool, but we have not yet had the chance to use it. The price and proximity to our family is why we chose this hotel. This hotel is good for families on a budget or the quick one night stay-over. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for a night"
I was there for 4 nights. The room I was was placed in was on the 2nd floor in the corner of the building overlooking the driveway and right on top of the outside smoking section. While a non-smoking room, it constantly smelled of cigarette smoke from the proximity to the smoking section. For 1 night or possibly 2 it was tolerable but for a 4 night […] stay it was a little much. I would have asked for another room but both IHG and Hotels.com informed me the hotel was booked when I made my travl arrangements. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"This One Is All About Location"
Coming back from a trip and decided to stop in Philly to take in the historic sites. This hotel is easy walking distance to independence hall. liberty bell, & constitution center. Overpriced for what it is, especially when you add $25 a night for parking. Room was basic and clean. No view, no frills. Did I mention that it's close to everything ;-)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location"
Toilet didn't work well. Just a maintenance issue. Several types of pillows otherwise just a basic hotel but clean and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"decent price for location"
Few blocks from everything historic. Comfy beds. Bathroom door stuck but not that badGenuine Expedia guest review
"excellent location, reasonable price"
Overall, this hotel works well, but it is getting a bit "tired". Carpet is threadbare in the residence area halls, for example. Rooms are comfortable, well-maintained, though a little small. What makes this hotel for me is the location and price - its hard to find a better located hotel at a reasonable price in Old City Philadelphia.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Pricy for a Holiday Inn and no breakfast"
The hotel was fine, but it was quite expensive for a Holiday Inn and when I inquired whether breakfast was included I was told no. For the price, Holiday Inn could have bought me a bagel. I booked through Hotels.com and my first reservation, although I received an email confirming the reservation, was cancelled because Hotels.com had technical difficulties […] processing the transaction. When I went back to start the process again the price had gone up. Surprise, surprise. I am a small business owner and cost does matter to me. Hopefully I don't have to be in Philly again when there are 10,000 chemists in town for a convention. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"people first"
The room itself was in great shape, however the staff I was in contact with were sub-par at best. A maid walked into our room without knocking even though there was a "do not disturb" tag on our door. "Excellent location, poor wifi"
Hotel is located within a block of all the historic places worth visiting in Philly. So it is an excellent location for touristic trips. The building is a little dated, but well maintained, clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous and helpful. My only disappointment was with the wifi service. They have an ancient system that requires to log in […] with a browser, which doesn't work with tablets (ipad) and smart phones (iphone, android). Only the traditional laptops could log in and their signal quality was spotty at best. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Holiday Inn in Philly - Historic District"
Excellent location for visiting the historic sites. In general the hotel was clean and well maintained. The heater/air conditioner was the old style mounted to the wall under the window - very difficult to get a reasonable temperature, either too hot or too cold and very loud compared to central systems. Restaurant not open on Saturday night and the […] surrounding neighborhood did not look safe to be walking around in at night so the bar was the only option. It was OK but not much to chose from on the menu. Overall, not bad for the price and location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK but better options for the money"
The room was adequate, no real bells and whistles. Reminded me of a "comfort Inn" type hotel. For the price there are better options with more amenities in the area. Staff in reception were helpful and professional. I'd probably only stay again if the price was right or needed to be in that location. My reservation included a free breakfast…when I […] went to reception they explained that they don't offer breakfast but gave me a coupon for $20 to use for dining. Dining room was understaffed, 2 servers with about 7 table occupied. I waited to be seated for about 5 minutes when another patron told me to seat myself. Majority of tables were dirty, sat at one that had coffee stains and was obviously used before me. Once seated I waited 15 minutes for my order to be taken….after I asked for a menu. Very disorganized. Pros: Central location to attractions, shopping and public transportation Ample street parking Free wireless internet Cons: Room was amble but lacked a wow factor, was a bit dreary. Could have used an arm chair in the room. I had to sit on bed to watch TV, read book etc. Coffee maker and ice bucket was located under end tables with no place to set it up on but on the desk. Room offered thin covers, not a fluffy down comforter often found in the better hotels. Parking $25 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Historic Holiday Inn"
First Impressiion of our room was it was a bit undermaintained, physically But it was clean and room service was available and friendly. "Not too bad considering, but a lot ot consider"
Other than being in the shower when the the fire alarm went off, or the poor internet reception so I couldn't Skype, or the musty smell (probably caused by the lack of a powered vent in the bathroom), it wasn't too bad. The fire station was just next door so the inconvenience the occasional siren was offset by the fact that they could walk over during […] the alarm! The staff did not have a list of local alternatives to their expensive in-house dining but there were a number of decent places nearby. Hotels.com said the parking was $20/day when it was really $25 but they honored that price. Let's face it, we wanted someplace walking distance to the historic district and this filled the bill without bedbugs at less than some others. P.S. the midtown has the continental breakfast, not the historic district. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Philly"
In general, the hotel was nothing special and our experience was disappointing. 1. Hotel was slow to respond to noise complaint when we complained about the very loud party in the next room. 2. The bathroom/shower was not very clean. 3. We were double charged by the hotel restaurant. It took a whole week and multiple phone calls to get the mistake corrected. 4. […] The meal at the hotel restaurant was disappointing. The service was extremely slow! My salad was disappointing/ poor quality! And then they charged our credit card twice! - In conclusion, despite the great location (very close to the national park area), we would not stay at this location again. Hotel was right in the heart of everything. Wish the weather was better to explore the Historic section. I have an infant and a 2 year old and the hotel provided 2 cribs at no extra charge. The only complaint I did have is that the gift shop didn't sell milk for my 2 year old. Went down to the bar to see if I could purchase some and they were very nice […] but the milk was spoiled. And this hotel is in a very busy part of the city and diagonal to a Fire station so if you want a peaceful quit experience this isn't the hotel to stay at. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Less than average"
First and foremost, the shuttle service from the airport to the hotel is fairly terrible, they cram 10 people into a van that was meant for 8 - do yourself the favor of using a taxi. The hotel itself is old and is in a definite need for a renovation though the staff at the front desk were very kind and knowledgeable. The room itself was fairly comfortable […] and the housekeeping and maintenance staff were very friendly. The room was quiet, and you are guaranteed a hot shower and plenty of clean towels. The cable is less than adequate, not many channels, and the internet service is moderate. Slower at peak times, but fairly fast during off hours. The outside of the hotel is depressing, not the hotel itself, but the homeless individuals that sleep on the stoop and just around the corner and in front of the attached restaurant. It is approximately a one half mile walk from the Philadelphia convention center - so that made the hotel convenient. I am afraid that the only thing that keeps this particular hotel in business is its location. If you are visiting for a conference, do yourself the favor and stay at a closer hotel even if it does cost a bit more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old hotel, needs spark"
The hotel was in a great location but it does have a stale smell to the rooms and the carpet needs to be replaced all over. They had decent customer service for a Philly hotel but that could've been better. The staff was informative and responsive. I would stay there again only because I am partial to newer, more modern facilities.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Call to make sure you get what you pay for."
First let me say that I planned a romantic trip and I paid a lot more to make it that way. I booked online, which was probably not the best Idea as the room i got looked nothing like the room in the photo. The hotel staff was very friendly. As for my room I had a nice view of the air conditioning system and the electrical units on the roof. The shower […] did not drain properly, and the roomed looked nothing like what I saw on the internet. Not what i wanted at what i paid for it, luckily my fiance is the greatest and did not care. No HDTV, or nice linens like in the picture. The location was awesome and the parking garage made it easy ($22 a night). Great place to stay if you are not expecting much, and want to explore the city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location - terrible service"
I read the reviews, I knew the hotel was old and the service left something to be desired. Just sharing my own story. When I arrived I was in a hurry to check in, get changed, and meet some people. I walked in the door and saw 3 people working the front desk, but as I walked up to the counter, the 2 people who were not assisting a customer saw me and […] walked to the back. I then had to wait for 5 or 10 minutes while the customer in front of me rented headphones and got a lecture on how much they would cost if she lost them. The man who finally helped me was less than pleasant - very "I just want to get out of here" attitude. I finally got to my room and the main complaint was just that it was tiny. Probably the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The AC was right next to the desk so that I couldn't sit and use the computer because the cold air was blowing directly on me. Only other complaint was that the valet put me in a car service instead of the taxi I asked for, and the guy charged me $10 to take me 3 blocks (it was raining and I didn't want to walk). That all being said - it really is a great location if you just have a few hours to walk around and do the touristy sight-seeing. I also was able to walk to and from some local bars. "it was ok"
the hotel was ok for its price.i am a traveler from Greece and went to philadelphia with my family 4 adults.the room was clean, the room service was ok.the only problem was that even though we were four in the room, the first day there were two coffee bags for the coffee machine and the other days the cleaning lady would only leave 1. the hotel was really […] close to downtown attractions but me and my family culd not even walk downtown at the dark or early in the morning beacause we were really scared.the streets were full of junkies and homeless people. But that was not the hotel's problem it was phillys problem. Anyway ,i would recommend this hotel to somebdy who wants to stay to medium priced neat hotel at downtown philadelphia.
