"Very disappointed"
Our room smelled! We tried fabreeze didn't even touch the smell. Our keeys kept not working. We got locked out of the motel 4 times. When we said we were having problems with them, the clerk told us we were messing with them. The pool wasn't working and wouldn't for at least a week. Breakfast was so so. "Probably won't stay here again"
The hotel had recently changed management and the current management inherited all the previous issues, but the hotel room was leaking water from the roof, it took over an hour to check in, and the pool was closed the entire time we were there. "Big Disappointment! Very Bad Hotel!!!"
When we got to our room the smell was awful! It was a musty mildew smell that was almost overwhelming! This was the beginning of Jan and the temp in the room was 50 deg or so. The heater in the room was so small the room didnt reach 70 till 4 or 5 hours later! Then we figured out the hard way that the chain in the toilet was broke and you had to flush […] it with your hand! Upon leaving for dinner we realized the door handle was installed backwards and it would not shut. It had to be slammed if you were shutting it from the outside. Be sure you bring your own pillows if you stay here cause thiers are about as thick as the towels. I didnt expect a fancy place staying here but it is grose! and run down! We have stayed at this motel many times before and found it very satisfactory for the price. This time we were very disappointed. I understand there is new management and I don't think they are doing very well. We asked for a nonsmoking room and were given one where it was obvious that someone had recently smoked in the room. We had a problem with the […] lights on one side of the room not working and the hair blower in the bathroom not working--probably a blown fuse. We reported early in the morning and asked to have it fixed or be able to change rooms. Nothing was done that day. The next day we were promised it would be fixed, but still wasn't so we insisted on changing rooms. Again, we were given a room that had obviously been smoked in so we asked for another. There were no door hangers in the room to indicate whether we wanted room service or not and other guests went outside on the 2nd level to smoke by the outside door. The cigarette ashes were never cleaned up and the smoke drifted in through the hallway of the whole floor. We will probably not choose to use this motel again. "This Super 8 Used to be Super; Not So These Days"
What a difference six months makes! I've never gone to Provo over the years but what I didn't look forward to staying at this hotel. That was true as recently as six months ago. Now, I'm looking forward to finding another place to stay when I visit next year. It appears that the recession has been hard on the place. The checkout notice on the door of room 129 says 1 p.m. I thought that was unusual, but I assumed it meant that 1 p.m. meant no extensions. The greatest redeeming thing about our stay was the Belgian waffles. They were really good. The rest of the stay was subpar or just plain bad. Besides the waffles there wasn't too much offered at the breakfast. The hot tub wasn't working. The wifi was intermittent and when we called about it the guy at the front desk was not helpful.
