Was suprised by how nice this hotel was. REALLY nice and I stay at about 30 hotels a year. Pool was COLD, but I am sure the temp changes frequently as hotels 'refresh' the water. Hot tub and sauna were superb. Pool and fitness center were quite warm and inviting...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I stayed at this location 2 years ago, and again this past week when I was back in the area. Here are the many things I enjoy about this property: --easy / convenient / pleasant checkin --breakfast is included, and features scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, sausage, toast, muffins, pastries, cereals, juices, oatmeal, fruit, and of course beverages. […] Really nice assortment of items to choose from --rooms are clean, beds are comfy --coffee available 24 hours a day --very accomodating staff (I asked for extra towels and got them right away) --location is convenient, just a short drive to downtown, a grocery store is across the street, and a full-service restaurant is within walking distance --staff is pleasant and happy to provide service No real negatives....hence why I chose to stay here when back in town. Our hotel stay was excellent, Houghton proved to be an excellent launching point for exploration of the UP. For a very modest rate we were given a suite with a jacuzzi, which was great after a long day. "holiday inn - houghton, MI"
this is a very nice hotel. The only problem was there were only 2 bath towels left every day by the cleaning person and we had a suite with 5 people. We had to keep asking for more towels. Also, the breakfast buffet seems to run out of hot food and fruit every 5 minutes. We had to wait 15 minutes one day for them to bring out more eggs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
