"Unremarkable"
Room amenities typical, no problems with the stay... bed was comfortable. "Marten House in Carmel Indiana"
The hotel is conveniently located and inexpensive. That being said, the hotel seems very outdated and the carpets going up the stairs seem dingy. My room smelled so much like air freshener that I could feel it my throat. The hotel deserves a higher rating. The parking lot needs some attention but the front desk service was very friendly. The room and comfortable and quiet, even though my room faced a busy street. "Horrible service and most rude reception I've seen"
I am horrendously dissatisified with my stay at Marten House. I was in town working at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, which promotes Marten House as it's "official hotel." I often go to Indy for business at the fairgrounds but had never stayed there before, and incorrectly assumed that as the official hotel, there would be no problem. I worked until […] after 11pm and showed up late, very tired and just wanting to shower and go to sleep since I had to be up again very early. Upon arrival, there was an issue with my reservation, which the manager proceeded to be unnecessarily hateful about, followed by not allowing me to check into one of my rooms. I had to get on the phone with hotels.com to straighten it out, which I did, an hour after I initially tried to check in. After getting to my room, I found old food behind the nightstand and on the unvaccummed floor. The toilet and shower were both dirty, including hair left, which is just disgusting to me. We drove around the building everywhere trying to find the sign for the Hotel Lobby... Never did find one.. I finally went inside and seen signs directing me to the lobby.. but had to walk quite a distance.
