Waikiki established its reputation as a getaway when the Moana Surfrider opened its doors in 1901. Today, more than 30,000 hotel rooms are packed in the skyscrapers along the golden sands of Waikiki Beach. At the end of Waikiki, Diamond Head towers as an enduring landmark. West of Waikiki, Pearl Harbor offers a somber testament to history and the victims of World War II.see all hotels in Honolulu
We were not happy at all with this hotel. When we walked into the room we were overwhelmed by a pungent odor. The bed was very hard, some of the drawers in the dresser were broken, the shower had black mold, the carpet had large stains in areas throughout, and my wife got a rash on her legs and arms from sitting on the couch! Aside from the hotel, the […] staff were friendly but that was the only positive. We would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the price."
Room was nice size. I did not have a TV in the bedroom. 1 packet of coffee for entire stay . No internet service without paying. Convenient location. Restaurant was very fair priced and the food was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to the beach with kitchen"
The hallway and room smell. Bedroom is separated from kitchen/living room which make a nice 5 days staying.Genuine Expedia guest review
We knew it was an older hotel but was quite disappointed. We reserved two rooms with two double beds in each room (there was 5 of us traveling). My son (23 years old) was going to go between the two rooms so that's why we needed two beds in each room. When we arrived, we were given one room with two double beds and "one upgraded" room that had a separate […] bedroom with 1 double bed and a sofa sleeper. Not sure why this was considered an upgrade when my son had to sleep on the sofa sleeper. The air conditioner was leaking in one room and they had a bucket below it to collect the water, kind of ghetto! The pictures online were very deceiving. The offsite parking was much better than the onsite parking (one way in and too small). No matter how many days you stay, you are still given only one day of complimentary coffee. The front desk and housekeeping service was excellent. Very friendly and efficient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice but needs work"
This hotel is in a great location close to shopping and the beach. the nightlife is amazing if you're looking for that. the staff was always very nice and helpful although the only complaints i have come from people staying in the room next to me (they were very loud and rude), and through cleanliness of my room when i first arrived was very displeasing. […] but my stay was generally enjoyable at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The first thing we noticed when arriving was that the place looked older in person than online. The staff seemed pretty good as we checked in. Then we opened our room and it smelled bad. The room and corridor were kind of grungy. While it seemed the staff was doing the daily room stuff, it seemed that the heavier cleaning, like scrubbing walls and shampooing […] carpet, hadn't been done for a long while. We also felt compelled to wash up all the dishes before using them. My teens didn't find the pull-out bed at all comfortable and 1 preferred the floor. The hotel is in a pretty good location for an economy unit. The staff was pleasant and helpful where they could be. The pool area showed some age, but was still enjoyable. "Nice location, comfortable room, terrible shower"
This hotel has a nice location, helpful staff, and comfortable room layouts. The shower in our bathroom was dark (no light), the tiles were cracked, the water pressure variable to low, and the hot water stopped and started without warning. Other than that, this was a nice place to stay for a couple of days.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Castle Disgusting Waikiki"
We arrived after 8:00p.m. & dark. It was an older, smaller establishment, but that did not bother us. The receptionist was very pleasant, the open lobby was next to the pool. So far, so good. That was our first impression. The pleasantry stopped there. As we walked to the elevator, things went downhill from there. The "laundry-room" was open air, looked […] like to hadn't been attended to for several weeks. As we entered the elevator, chipped - dirty walls, (keep going family it's only a couple of nights). It will be ok. As we arrived at our floor & the elevator doors opened.....the walls in the hallway greeting us were disgustingly filthy (We are not a tidy people). Splatters & just general grease & grime from everyday use & months of NO CLEANING or painting nor vacuuming. Upon entering the room, the grease & grime continued on all walls & doors, floors seemed to be vacuumed in the pathways. We had a "kitchen" unit but there was no way we would have eaten from there without washing all dishes first. The bathroom appeared somewhat clean as long as you didn't look in the corners or under the sink. The towels smelled of bleach & looked clean? Sheets on the beds smelled of bleach & also appeared cleaned? We were totally disgusted with this hotel. It was filthy, filthy, filthy. We did a first for our family, while out for dinner we found a different hotel & moved. So sad, with the correct management this could be a nice place to stay but not at the present. Response by Castle Hokele Suites Waikiki Aloha Valued Guest, We are truly sorry for the frustrations occurring during your recent stay here at the Hokele Suites Waikiki. Our efforts are to satisfy all guest to the best of our ability, by way of pricing, Service with Aloha and cleanliness. Someway in your case we failed to measure up to you expectations. Yes, we are an older hotel, which immediately give some guest a perception of being dirty. But our daily efforts are to clean our public areas (lobby, hallways etc) to the best of our ability. We also clean each occupied room daily and with a qualified staff of employees. I will share your comments with our staff with the intention of improving for the benefit of all guests. Again we are very sorry but do hope your vacation to Hawaii was both enjoyable and memorable. Sincerely, General Manager
This hotel is outdated and not very clean. The bathroom had sticky floor, molding in the shower and the floor had long strands of hair and also pubic hair!!!! the kitchenette had kitchen towels that smelled terrible, the kitchen utensils were outdated and not very usable, the small coffee pot leaked water from the tank and the water would run all over […] the small countertop. The carpets are not only old, but extremely dirty. I will never go back to this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good enough hotel in good location"
Staff is very pleasant. Rooms are clean, if very plain. Housekeeping staff doesn't know how to make beds. Had to redo mine every night in order to have a smooth bottom sheet.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Staff who are enthusiastic, location is good, but"
No free wifi, don't feel clean room bedding。 Staff who are enthusiastic, location is good, but feel it isn't clean. The street around the hotel, to eat more convenient. We are online booking every room is two beds, but when we checked in we found only one bed room, because we are three people, I feel pretty crowded.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very dated hotel. Smelled rather musty and could use new beds but then who hangs in a hotel when you're in Waikiki? Definitely budget type for the locale.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice place for a tight budget"
Hotel staff was amazing; they were so incredibly nice and real, unlike other larger corp hotel staff with overly sweet smiles.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good value through expedia"
Decent hotel room for the price. Close to the beach, two blocks away.Genuine Expedia guest review
Central location. Not near the beach. Outside the resort are homeless and drunks on the ground. Walls are very thin and you can hear the people in the rooms next to you. Showers are hot and cold. Beds are like sleeping on boards. Front desk staff not very knowledgable and not very friendly. It got me to Hawaii cheap but wish I would have paid a little […] extra to be in a better place. "What a dump!"
There is not enough space to write all of the negatives of this experience. First and foremost, Expedia stated that there was a "full kitchen." There were small appliances. The fridge had a tiny freezer for ice cube trays only. No dishwasher, no dish rack, no garbage disposal, a two burner stove with a tiny oven. Microwave barely large enough to heat […] leftovers. The counter space was almost nonexistent. 2 cup coffee pot. No way could I have prepared a decent meal there. We had to request bowls for cereal. The drinking glasses held 3 or 4 ounces. Of the 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 1 living room, 1 of the bedrooms had a clear sliding glass door. All other glass was frosted. There was NO view...in Hawai'i!! Horrible lighting - after dark we didn't have enough light to read. Next, the bedrooms were small. The floor plan was pathetic. Inside doors were about 28" wide (I had to turn my suitcase sideways to get it into the "master" bedroom. The bed was more narrow than a hotel queen with no support. My husband and I had little sleep due to the way the mattress sagged in the middle, causing us to cling to the sides to avoid rolling into each other constantly. The shower was tiny and dark with an opening more narrow than the doorways. The bathroom had no ventilation at all...no window, no fan...creating a stuffy, humid, hot, uncomfortable atmosphere when the door was closed. A few of the staff were friendly and helpful. Several were indifferent w/o the aloha spirit usually found there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Run down tenement"
This hotel needs some work desperately. Not nearly worth the $170 we paid for one night. Sliding door to balcony didn't work. Mattress sunk down, woke up with a sore back. Had to park more than a block away for a $20 fee.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was helpful. The room was shabby. If you don't get parking on site, it is very confusing and not convenient. I would not stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
A.C. did not work, matresses were old and worn. People were passed out in the hallway and in the parking lot.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to all the activities, friendly staff"
This isn't a 5-star hotel by any means, but the stay is very comfortable and the staff are awesome. I actually didn't want a "touristy" hotel experience, I wanted a local experience. This hotel is walking distance from everything in Waikiki - the beach, the marketplace, lots of restaurants - all within a few blocks. I would definitely recommend this […] towel to anyone wanting a rich experience of Hawaii and wanting to save some money on the accommodations so you can use it on activities or souvenirs. Overall, we had a great time! We've been to Honolulu Zoo , Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, Pali Lookout, International Marketplace, Hale Koa Hotel for the Luao, Museum at Fort De Russy, North Shore Beaches, Kahuku Farms, Ho'Omaluhia Botanical Garden, Fireworks on a Friday night courtesy of Hilton Hawaiian Village, Ala Moana Center, etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was one of the worst experiences of travel I have ever had! The hotel was gross, old, dirty and disgusting! I can't even say enough bad things about this place from the moment we arrived. If I could have afforded it, I would have checked out immediately. However, being on a budget... With children, we made due with hat we had.Genuine Expedia guest review

Hotel was close to the beach, however bathroom very small and looks really old I will not stay in that hote again. Towels look old and dirty, bed very uncomfortable. "Not what we expected"
We thought we would be getting a three room suite, instead we received two rooms with a joining door. Parking really sucked, it is half a block away and we paid for parking and Wifi. It wasn't as glamorous as it looked in the pictures but maybe we didn't get the VIP rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Stay out of the bathroom and your stay will be ok"
The shower had very weak water pressure, We had to use the ice bucket to rinse with. They change the towels every 4 days. One swearts so much in Hawai that one needs a shower twice a day, I do not like using the same towel eight times in a row. The shower had a lot of mold. I don't think they have heard of bleach. The bathroom floor was moped but they […] never close the door to mop behind it and there was a pile of dirt behind the door when closed. The staff was nice and the beds were comfortable. "Do Not Stay Here"
Not a fun place to stay, it's old there is nothing good about it only the fact that it is close to shopping stores and the the beach. I do not recommend anyone to stay here. "really run down and out-dated"
we only stayed one night and i was glad for that. we had a "3 room suite" turns out it was a two room with an ajoining room. the hotel rooms were really old looking. everything look old and run down. the bathroom floor looked like it needed to be bleached. the shower was so dirty that I only washed my hair in the sink as I was going to be at a different […] hotel the next evening. it was really close to shopping areas and the beach. I went downstairs to use the computer and paid for 30 minutes to print my boarding passes and after 12 minutes of getting errors, it told me I needed to purchase more time as the remaining 18 minutes were not enough to print what i needed. what a crock, my passes finally printed after paying a total of 10 dollars for what should have been an hours time and was actually only 15 minutes. what a racket. The building is showing its age and smells a bit musty. However, it was clean and functional. It is located at the edge of the main tourist area, about a 5-10 min walk from the action. All the rooms seem to have balconies, but, as is the norm in Waikiki, the view is of other concrete hotels and appartment blocks. Wireless was extra, but reasonable connection […] speed and cheaper than a big hotel. This is not the place to stay if money is no object or if you want to spend your time luxuriating in the hotel, but a is good deal if you want a base not far from the beaches, bus routes, etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Our Hawaiian trip!"
When we first arrived at our room we were all so disappointed that it was so small, I went to the front desk to explain that 6 people could not possibly stay in such small quarters and if there was another larger room available, the desk clerk ( Who was very accommodating) did a little research and got us into the type of room that I originally thought […] we were going to have. Even though the room is in much needed remodeling and updating we were satisfied with it and found it to meet our needs for the 10 days we stayed there. We were Definitely shocked when we checked out to get a bill for towel charges, it was not explained to us that fresh towels were not available daily and that beds would be changed every 4 days (which ours were not the entire time we stayed there!) But on the whole it was close to bus lines, trolley lines and beach that we could get around easily, if I ever return to Hawaii I will be doing a little more research on room accomodations! "Nice for the Price"
Over all our stay was nice. I loved the view. It wasn't the beach but it was nice to be able to sit out on the Lanai and enjoy the view and fresh air. The parking lot is very small. Make sure you have a small car or you'll have a scary time parking under the parking garage which is $20 a day. My only complaint is the beds. The beds were really worn […] out. We had the double beds and one of them was so sunken in, it felt like I was going to fall inside the bed and disappear. I'm not one to complain so we just dealt with it. "good location but needs upgrading"
This hotel was in a very convenient location to many things in Waikiki, but, overall, it was quite rundown. With just a bit of work, it could have been quite nice, but it was apparent that it hadn't been updated or improved in a long time. The sofa sleeper was terrible; it had a thin, saggy mattress; the kitchen was tiny, so hard to use; the bathroom […] was tiny and needed another towel rack and a shelf on the wall; the wall color was a dingy beige; the couch was very uncomfortable. It did have a good television, a large lanai and a comfortable queen size bed. It just needs some updating and better amenities. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
