Waikiki established its reputation as a getaway when the Moana Surfrider opened its doors in 1901. Today, more than 30,000 hotel rooms are packed in the skyscrapers along the golden sands of Waikiki Beach. At the end of Waikiki, Diamond Head towers as an enduring landmark. West of Waikiki, Pearl Harbor offers a somber testament to history and the victims of World War II.

Not only did we find the hotel first rate but its' location made it easy to get around without having to drive. Most everything we wanted to see or visit was within walking distance. We had a very enjoyable stay and will be sure to recommend it to our friends and family.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Outstanding"
This hotel rates as one of the best in Waikiki, quaint, classy and the most central location of any hotel on the beach. We had a Banyan room with a beach view and birds chirping. Total relaxing. I highly recommend this hotel to travelers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Heavenly Moana!"
I have stayed at many hotel in Waikiki as I travel there for business regularlly. I have to say the Westin Moana Surfrider is by far one of the nicest and I highly recommend it! The building is absolutely beautiful as is the enormous Banyon tree in the courtyard. One of the best thing is the fabulous Honolulu Coffee Co is onsight for the best coffee, […] lattes and waffles, acai bowls ever! The hotels service was excellent, we had a beautiful upgraded room in the tower that appeared to be newly remodeled with a high end Toto bidet and ocenn view upgrade, and a patio at no extra charge! I only wish I was there 10 days and I could have stayed longer and taken some real time off! I will definately try to always stay here! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome hotel with tiny rooms"
We loved staying here mainly because the location is perfect right on the water, the rocking chairs out front were so relaxing, and the beds were super comfy. The downsides were the tiny little rooms. There is no room for anything. The street side rooms were crazy loud so we talked them into moving us to the courtyard. We would've had a horrible stay […] otherwise due to the loud street performers. We loved the resort nature of this hotel. Can't beat the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful classic gem in Waikiki"
We had a wonderfully pleasant stay at this classical hotel. We had heard it was one of the first hotels build at the turn of the 20th century, and by the looks of the hotel, it is classically contemporary. The staff was second to none in providing top notch service at every level. The only negative I could say is at night, we could hear street performers […] on the street level from our room. They should just try to put a stop to that because it could get loud a times, but that is more the neighboring area..... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"sleep in waikiki... spend your day elsewhere"
Moana Surfrider was a great hotel to stay in.... hotel.com was able to get us a good deal... waikiki is great except for the actually beach itself. if you stay in waikiki, do yourself a favor and GET OUT during the day... rent a car, go to the east side, or north shore... there is A LOT to do on Oahu... go explore and enjoy... Waikiki Beach is actually […] one of the worst beaches on the island, but it's where everything is so it's the best place to stay Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Superstar"
This is not our first stay at the Moana Surfrider, so we know the place well. If you are looking for a hotel with historical significance, perfect location, and a reasonable rate (for oceanfront Waikiki). This is the ticket. Rooms are very modern and very comfortable, staff very nice and helpful. We had stayed at the adjoining Royal Hawaiian before, […] but that facility changed a lot of things (no more breakfast Buffett, reconfigured lobby, raised prices $200 per night), so Moana Surfrider a better option now. Outstanding. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Hands down the best resort in Waikiki. Best location on the beach. Everything is very clean and up to date. Absolutly loved this place. Will stay here everytime I come to Waikiki. Location is right across the street from shopping and resturants as well!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hawaii Decompression"
Wonderful. Most don't consider staying in Waikiki to decompress at the end of a vacation; but we did spend a night in a "classic ocean view" hotel room after a week vacationing on a neighboring island. The corner room allowed us to lay in bed while watching the sunset through the open window. The Moana Hotel was very relaxing, more so at any other hotel […] in Waikiki, including the Royal Hawaiian. "Best location on Waikiki!!"
We just got home and truly enjoyed our stay. The location is very convienent, beach bar is outstanding (Marnie and Cheryl are awesome like always). We had our 3 1/2 year old and he had such a great time on the beach and in the pool. All the staff went out of their way to make him feel welcome. We will stay there again some day....Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Queen for a good reason"
I loved this place, from a few laps in the pool in the morning, to a walking around downtown, to an aftrernoon swim in the ocean with inner tubes and finally a mai tai and steamed edamame at the beach bar, It was paradise, all day, every day.Genuine Expedia guest review

My wife and I are frequent travelers abroad. This hotel ranks as one of if not the top! The presence of this iconic hotel is unbelievable. "Beautiful hotel with a Japanese vibe."
Absolutely beautiful hotel! Amazing food and ambiance. Don't expect to feel like you're in authentic Hawaii though - it feels more like you're in an upscale posh Japanese resort.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Crowded but in the middle of the beach."
It would of been nice to know about the $25/d hotel charge ahead of getting there. Pool area is too small for this size hotel, otherwise very nice. You should definitely get an ocean view room. There were 2 bums sleeping on the ground outside window, so don't get on ground floor either.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to stay!"
This is a beautiful property. It opened in 1902, and the original building is still beautiful. We stayed in the tower, the rooms were big and well kept and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The restaurant is pricey; if you want a great meal, go to Duke's which is almost adjacent to the hotel. They have great food, wonderful salad bar, and beautiful […] sights looking out over the ocean. Expect a wait though (have a Mai Tai at the bar)! Very family friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, beautiful views!"
We stayed in an oceanfront room...and you feel like you're on a boat, that's how close you are to the ocean. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The only amenity that was lacking lacking was the bathroom in our room. It was small and the fixtures were chipped and needed to be updated, tub was slow to drain. But the service was great and you can't beat […] the location. We dined at the hotel for breakfast (included in the package we purchased), and the buffet was excellent! We also spent one evening at the outdoor beach bar/restaurant and had an excellent meal with live local entertainment (kids 12 and under eat free!) and watched the sun set on Waikiki. We were very pleased with our stay and would recommend this hotel. (Also saw at 3 weddings during our stay). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best spot on Waikiki"
The location simply can not be improved. . Right on the beach where the surf breaks best. View from the tower is picturesque. The rooms were spacious and clean. Service was outstanding . The beach is great for the kids . The pool area is a little small but kid friendly. Breakfast buffet on the veranda is a wonderful way to start the day. Spend three […] days here then head to Kauai! You will love it. ( lots of Japanese weddings here . Kind of fun , this does not interfere in any way with your experience) they upgraded our room at no cost and bent over backwards to put all of our rooms together . Great service !!! "The best"
LOVE this hotel, will only stay here. Love the deal that includes breakfast - the morning buffet is delicious and the scenery is beautiful. We didn't want to do all the touristy things, just relax. So we did not get a car, and we walked to restaurants and shops around Waikiki. The pool is a little small but who needs it when you have the Pacific steps […] away? With the resort fee kids eat free with a paying adult, take advantage of this by the pool! At night we got a coffee and sat out front on the rocking chairs, a few nights a really good piano player was right behind us. Their gift shop is reasonable and has really nice things. Check the schedule daily, they have yoga and other events each day. The katamaran out back as well as the water sports rental place right next door are great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Moana review"
this is the oldest hotel in Oahu but at the same time the most beautiful and well maintained one. I visited a few other hotels in Waikiki before I get this one. The pricing was good too. The are only couple problems. The food prices are high comparing to their quality. Also the spa price for is $150 per person and gender separated. I do not recommend […] use of spa or restaurant. "I love the Moana!"
Fantastic hotel! First - Location, Location, Location: unlike most other hotels in Waikiki, the Moana is actually *on* the beach, which makes it very convenient. The breakfast buffet is great, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the pool is nice. (I didn't spend much time in the pool, given that the Pacific Ocean is just a few footsteps away). […] I loved the fact that I could reserve a beach umbrella, go swimming, and order food and beverages. I can keep going on and on about the positives, but I should state the downsides too: (1) There is no parking at the Moana per se. Instead, one has to park at the Princess Kaiulani, which is across the road from the Moana. A slight inconvenience. (2) The walls are very thin and one can hear everything from neighboring rooms, which is awkward. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Waikiki's first lady of comfort and beauty"
This was the best hotel that I have been in during my travels. I loved the character of the hotel. The entry into the hotel was breathtaking. I wondered if the pictures that I had seen online were acurate; needless to say they were spot on. I truly felt very special as I came into the building which was very important to me as I work very hard and was […] in need of a little pampering. The staff was exceptional. Everyone made me feel like a queen. I really enjoyed that fact that many remembered my name after the first day. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" is very true. The location of the hotel was also a plus for me as I was traveling alone. I walked out of my hotel and was on the main st and did sightseeing on my own day and night feeling very secure. After a long day of sigtseeing the bed was wonderful and I slept very well. The double pane windows kept the very quiet eventhough I was on the lively city view side. I will not stay in another hotel when I visit Waikiki. I have been spoiled with the best. Thank you staff of the Moanasurfrider. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"RELIVING THE HISTORIC ELEGANCE OF OLD TIME HAWAII"
The Moana Surfrider and the Royal Hawaiian have been our preferred hotels whenever we visit Oahu. Their convenient location, service and history provide us with the needs we seeks while vacationing. "Life's a Beach"
The bustle of Kalakaua on one side, the leisure of Waikiki beach life on the other.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent Hotel"
We are very familiar with Hawaii and Wailiki Beach, having stayed in the Royal Hawaiian 2 other times. The Moana Surfrider offered a larger, nicer room with a better view of Diamond Head at almost $200 less per night. I love both places, but this place is a good deal plus all the quaint historic stuff as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
