Waikiki established its reputation as a getaway when the Moana Surfrider opened its doors in 1901. Today, more than 30,000 hotel rooms are packed in the skyscrapers along the golden sands of Waikiki Beach. At the end of Waikiki, Diamond Head towers as an enduring landmark. West of Waikiki, Pearl Harbor offers a somber testament to history and the victims of World War II.see all hotels in Honolulu
"Not what I expected"
I wanted to book 4 star hotel that is clean, nice view, good service and near the beach. When I called the hotel, they told me its 10 minutes walk to the waikiki beach which turned out to be 40 minutes walk, which was very disappointing. The service was motel level. There was not much surrounding the hotels unless you walk at least 15 minutes to Hilton […] Hawaiian village. The room is clean an comfortable, but if I ever go back to honolulu, I would not book this hotel. Not worth the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just ordinary. Nothing to talk about."
Pool is shallow and small. Fitness center was made up with just two regulat hotel room combined.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Something fishy about this place"
Upon our arrival at the hotel, we noticed a very strong, repugnant fried fish smell that permeated the whole lobby area. Very bad smell that we later discovered was coming from the restaurant on the third floor above the lobby. Elevators seemed run down and had an unpleasant odor. Hallways were very hot. However, the room was clean and very comfortable. […] Nice view to the marina. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Room Reno Badly Needed"
I've stayed here several times in the past, but this is the first time I was placed in a room where the wear & tear was clearly visible. Wallpaper in the corner of the room were blistering, room smelled stale, and carpet looked really worn. However, the staff were awesome, from being greeted by the Bellmen to being checked in by the front desk agent! […] All extended a warm Aloha! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice hotel but wouldn't rate it as 4 star. Hotel primarily caters to the Oriental Community but still provides all guests with friendly professional service. Would recomment hotel for the view of the harbor and location. Most disappointment was no entertainment provided at the hotel but close by are many entertainment opportunies.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good business hotel near Alo Moana"
While very well located near the Alo Moana shopping area and other high quality hotels as well as being on the marina looking out to the ocean, the Prince has slipped a bit over the years in terms of its service and condition. Restaurants and work out room are particularly disappointing, given the overall level of this hotel (4 star). While a good value […] in terms of the room rate, the Prince needs further investment in key areas that clients are expecting today, particularly business customers, i.e., business services, restaurant, bar, and the health club. Hotel is also highly oriented toward the Asian client, which I believe is limiting its appeal to the broader visitor pool coming to Hawaii. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't stay without a deal"
Hawaii Prince Hotel has a great location (just out of Waikiki) and every room has a view of the ocean. Those are the only two great things about the hotel. It's overly priced for rooms that desperately need to be remodeled. Wall paper was peeling, grout in shower was moldy, wood around the windows was splitting... Etc. I paid $300 a night to stay here […] and wish I would have spent the extra $50-$75 to stay at a Marriott or Hyatt I'm sure I would have had a nicer room. Our first night we climbed into bed to find the flat sheet they were using to cover the mattress wasn't big enough leaving 3 inches of exposed mattress. We had to wait for house keeping to come up and jimmi-rig a mattress cover using several different blankets... Long story short they didn't have a large enough mattress cover for the king bed. I complained and complained to the manager but didn't receive any solution to our problem except an "I'm so sorry." It seems very unhygienic having guests sleep in beds touching the actual mattress. We will definitely skip the Hawaii Prince Hotel next time we come to Hawaii. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but needs some tlc"
The hotel has a great location and fantastic food. The hotel is older, but with a little hard work, it could be clean enough to look newer than it is. Additionally, the decorative pillows on the bed were not clean. This is disgusting! Finally, the fish smell coming from the trash area outside the sushi part of the restaurant smelled very bad and permeated […] the area where we entered the Diamond Head tower. That is nasty. "My Hawaii vacation"
The hotel was very nice they also need to have a few more resonable restaurants other than the $47.00 a piece buffet that starts @ 6:00pm...the rooms were too cold for me even with the thermostat turned up to the highest setting of heat, Bike or scooter rentals would be nice sense the hotel doesn't offer free shuttle to the mall, even though the mall […] is only 2-3 blocks away. The rooms do offer breath taking views, of the harbour. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not going back"
I will not go back because they charge wi-fi ($12/day) and parking ($19/day) and it seems this hotel mostly caters to Japanese tourists. One good thing was the location. It is walking distance to the quiet beech and Ala Moana shopping center. The room was a okay but the bed was not too comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good for business not for vacations"
The hotel has a strong smell of fish. breakfast is expensive, and internet is not free. and do not fall for the $40 Illemia breakfast/internet daily deal! you get cereals in isolated room with three tables not in the restaurant. the fittness center is nothing but two rooms with couple of equipments, disappointing. while every hotel on the waikiki beach […] strip has a beach cafe, entertainment, and lots of other activities, this hotel should be considered if your are staying in Honolulu in and out for business only. the service is good however and the staff is friendly. good for business not for vacations. Thought the marina view would be nice, but it was really congested/loud. Tried to sleep with windows open and there was a lot of noise due to the marina.. car alarms/etc going off a lot. The restaurants in the hotel itself were also disappointing, and wished the outside pool arena was nicer with a nice bar/restaurant area and just more upkeep/more modern […] like some of the neighboring hotels. We didn't have a desire to hang out in our actual hotel at all and went to others instead. The plus is that the rooms were HUGE.. HUGE bathroom.. and they were very comfortable and clean and well kept. I liked that part but not sure we would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Adequate but older"
The hotel was just ok. It seemed half updated- some aspects were new and nice, others were older and worn down. The shower and bed particularly were in need of upgrading. There are plenty of newer hotels that are also cheaper.. It was nice to be away from the main Waikiki drag, and the shuttle down there was convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Does not deserve four stars!"
The hotel is in a good location and the room I got overlooked the Marina which was nice. Even though the people working at the front desk were friendly and efficient, the porters were extremely rude. There was mildew on the grout of the shower which I found totally dreadful and completely unacceptable. I was quite shocked that the hallways to the hotel […] rooms are not maintained very well. "Nice hotel suites for large family"
Nice outside looking and large lobby, but rooms are getting old, need some upgrade remodeling or cosmetic fixes. Nice services, fridenly people. Little bit walk to beach, but the ocean views were great.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were deflated to pay such a high price for a hotel in such a great location, only to find that our room smelled bad, the fixtures were dated and in general we did not get the first-class experience we were hoping for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Staff was not cooperative"
The location is good and all the rooms have oceanview. The staff though were not friendly the concierge for instance was not quite Informative They did not offer any upgrades for Expedia VIP members. My stay was overall not stained with any disasters but I guess I would look for other options next timeGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is pretty old and run down. No pool area. Golf course didn't see. Rooms were a bit dirty. Hair on beds etc. from previous perso. Or housekeeping. Staff was great thoughGenuine Expedia guest review
I enjoyed my stay here but 2 things held it this hotel back from maxing out the ratings: location and room updating. The location wasn't bad-it's on the water in Waikiki-can't go wrong with that. There is a great harbor view but there is no beach. If you don't mind walking a block or 2 it's no big deal. But I suspect most people stay in Waikiki to go […] to the beach so just be aware you don't walk out of this hotel onto the beach. The rooms were nice and clean but can use some updating. The walls, electrical outlets (multiple power strips), thermostats, furniture, etc good really use some updating. Again, not a bad experience, the rooms were clean and well maintained, it just looks like they haven't upgraded details since the early 90s. Overall this is a great hotel for the price. "Ok but not sure I would stay there again."
This hotel was clean but outdated in the rooms. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling off the walls and the counter cabinet paint was chipped all over the place. The room was clean but again outdated. It definitely needs a makeover.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel except....."
Hotel was great with some exceptions; despite having paid for the hotel, they charge a nightly parking fee of $17! Being a guest at the hotel, I thought parking would be free (or that the fee is included in total charge). Was greatly dissapointed by this unnecessary charge.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Far from Waikiki, very 80's"
Lots of brass, dated marble, and a overlooking what must be the public marina, from 1970 (lots of boats on their last leg). You get what you pay for!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was okay for the price. Nice view. Older hotel. My room smelled like smoke even though they told me it was non smoking. The bed wasn't all that comfortable, but overall it was okay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is somewhat dated and the pool area is rather small for such a large hotel. While its close, able to walk to alana moana mall you need to take a shuttle (available every 30mins) to the central part of waikiki. Personally, I would now pay extra to be closer.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pretty nice place at edge of Waikiki"
Overall, the hotel was comfortable, clean, and definitely good enough. But a few points keep this from being a top-notch place: no free wi-fi (not even in the lobby), and the building is starting to show its age.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great place and nice staff, but lousy bed"
the bed was so uncomfortable, I got a back ache every nightGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean but dated, far from the beach."
I would only recommend this hotel to those who have been to Waikiki before and are familiar with getting around on their own. This hotel is at the far end of the strip with no direct access to the Waikiki beach and while there is a shuttle, it is rather small--leaving passengers often standing, and only runs on the half hour. While the rooms are generally […] clean, the rooms are rather dated with bathroom ceilings peeling and fixtures falling apart. The rooms all have beautiful ocean views but are a bit musty so in order to keep the room smelling crisp, you'll have to crank up the AC leaving the guests to bundle up. Overall, it's a decent hotel--though perhaps a dated 4-star. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"good, not great"
The food (room service and the bar anyway) was blah and overpriced, and NOTHING is available after 10pm. Parking costs an extra $20/night which is pretty lame. Wifi costs an extra $15 a day which is very lame, considering that's free at most (cheaper) hotels. It's a bit outdated - the TV offered the "latest in Nintendo 64 games", just to give an idea. […] Wanted $5.99 for one TV episode. Very little counter space in the bathroom. Not bad overall, just not great in the peripheral areas. It's a great location though, and the staff is very friendly. Loved the convenience of the free shuttle service to certain spots in Waikiki. Very close to Ala Moana where there's everything you could possibly need. A Foodland for groceries, stores, and a food court!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Aloha!!! hawaii with a 10 year old"
We stayed 7 nights. Traveling were my 10 year old son and myself. On check in they gave my son a pail and shovel for the beach which was a nice gesture. My son enjoyed the pool, it was small but not crowded at all. Salt water pool BTW. The hotel was friendly but not helpful with questions or suggestions on activities, restaurants, etc... When room was […] cleaned same towels were rehanged and or didnt get new towels. Also, coffee and toiletries (shampoo/conditioner) were not restocked daily ,, and some days we had to call to even get. The hotel didnt have the usual hustle and bustle of resort hotels which was very nice. Felt very relaxed. BEST PART WAS A FULL MASSAGE CHAIR IN THE ROOM and a wonderful view of Ala Manona park especially at sunset. Everything is walking distance away from the hotel which was very nice. There's familiar restaurants on the corner and IHOP 5-7 mins away (walking). The shuttle is very convenient running every 1/2 hour. Dont recommend room service, ordered twice and although it was quick and convenient both time we had to call because they forgot something. The hotel restaurant was reasonably priced and had a GREAT view!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointing staff during emergency fire alarm"
A fire alarm went off during our stay at 1am in the morning. The announcements told us to stay indoors, but then we started to smell smoke. Since we were on one of the lower floors, we decided to walk down the stairs and go outside. Once outside, there were a lot of people milling around. None of the staff offered any news, nor did anyone offer water […] to the many people standing outside in the middle of the night. We finally were told that we could go back to our rooms at around 3-330am. People who were on the higher floors (e.g. 30th floors) had to wait until the elevators were up and running - which took another few hours apparently. The most disappointing factor was that none of the staff seemed to know what to do. I would hope that a 4 star hotel would train it's staff properly in case of emergency situations such as this one. For example, give water to it's customers, tell people what's going on, etc etc. Also, the only compensation we received for not being able to sleep the night before, was complimentary coffee in the morning in the lobby (if you were able to wake up in the morning after the night before)... Not very impressive... I expect better from a 4 star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
