An outdoor pool, poolside bar, and spa tub are surrounded by a large sundeck. The hotel is home to the popular Vit's Hawaiian Steak House, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. Dinner highlights include Hawaiian Ono Steak, Prime Rib, Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Chicken, and Grilled Mahi-Mahi. A gift shop, hair salon, and business center are also on site. First time I stayed at the Maile Sky Court, with my family, we had a problem with the security and parking. Second time I stayed, a vulgar, semi-violent person in the lobby turned me off. "You Get (Or Don't Get) What You Pay For"
I'm not the kind of traveler who requires a lot of hotel pampering. Give me a hot shower, a comfortable bed and I'm good to go. But I've not stayed in a hotel where the rooms were so dark. The overhead light is by the door. There is one lamp at a desk and a second lamp by the bedside. But, only on one bedside. Two people cannot comfortably read in bed. […] The hallways smelled stuffy, like cigarette smoke. I was surprised that all of the rooms on the floor were Non Smoking because of the stuffiness. The bathroom faucet was loose, but was immediately corrected when brought to the attention of the front desk. The building is an older building and shows its age. The hall carpets are old and worn. The bathtub had a bald spot. However, I had booked our room at a sale rate. It's possible that rooms on the higher floors that probably cost more per night have more to offer. "tiny and tattered"
We booked two rooms for our family trip to Honolulu, and neither room met even the lowest standards of cleanliness or upkeep. our bedding was in tatters and barely fit the bed. Additionally, although our rooms were booked in the same reservation, one room was on the 11th floor and the other, the 27th floor. Some quick disclosures (a) my wife used to work for the hotel 20 somethings years ago before i met her.(b) I reside in Hawaii and a government employee. Room. Carpet is old but clean. Furnitures old but adequate. Maid was great we did not see any delay in service. The jacuzzi was big and available till 10pm. Pool is small but adequate. Had trouble with TV - called housekeeping twice, poor English skills of repair person resulted in no fix - had to bang on the TV about every 3 minutes to make it work. Stunned by "penny wise - pound foolish" policy on the coffee kits. A free kit, with coffee, creamer, sweetener was provided for the first day, but follow-on days were sold for a small […] amount. "Try another hotel"
This was my second stay in Waikiki, but a first at the Maile Sky Court. It’s a ways away from the main Waikiki beach, but shopping centers were close by and an ABC store across the street. The reception area was nice and everyone whom I dealt with was very courteous and nice. However, I booked a 1 bedroom, oceanfront view room and it was TINY! The bathroom […] was extremely small and the shower was really small. I'm only 5'8" and had a hell of a time trying not to hit my arms on the ceiling when I was washing my hair. The bed was decent, the pillows weren't that great. The room was clean, but old. The air-conditioning was a cooler attached to the window and the windows were dirty. There were various female prostitutes hanging out in the lobby or in the elevators with their "clients", and trust me we knew they were prostitutes (I'm married to an undercover officer) I wouldn't recommend staying there, but you get what you pay for with this place! "Maile Sky Court, Waikiki, Oahu"
The front desk staff were, for the most part, almost rude and seemed to not be concerned about our questions or problems. At check-in, we felt rushed and pressured to get on our way, even though there was only 1 othere guest checking in at the time. The clerk did not explain we were to use our room key cards in the elevator or that there were 2 sets […] of elevators for floors 4-25 and 26-44. The room was clean and housekeeping did a good job. But, getting clean towels was another problem. When we returned to our room on the 2nd day, we had no clean towels. We had put our used towels on the floor as explained on the room instructions...leave dirty towels on the floor and hang up towels you wish to use again. When my husband went down to housekeeping to get towels, he was told that towels were only to be replaced every 3 days just like the sheets. If we wanted fresh towels daily, he would have to bring down the used towels every morning and get clean replacements! Also, the water temperature of the shower was not consistent. It would go from warm to ice cold to scalding hot. The water would get so hot - it burned the top of my foot. It was red and tender for 2 days! We went to the front desk with this problem. The clerk said he appreciated us telling him of the problem and he would turn it in. The problem was never resolved - and we talked with other guests with the same concern. The center elevator did not work properly during our 10 day stay. Luckily, there were 2 other elevators for our floor. The bed was most uncomfortable - almost like sleeping on a box spring instead of a mattress. And, the pillows were flat. 2 pillows could fit into a pillowcase and still leave room! The lobby area and open areas were very nice and well maintained. And, the location was very convenient for the island bus and tour bus pick-ups. If you're looking for a hotel that is a base camp while doing tours and going to the beach, etc. This is a good enough hotel. However, it is not really a place to relax in. The rooms are very small.
