Waikiki established its reputation as a getaway when the Moana Surfrider opened its doors in 1901. Today, more than 30,000 hotel rooms are packed in the skyscrapers along the golden sands of Waikiki Beach. At the end of Waikiki, Diamond Head towers as an enduring landmark. "More rundown than other Hiltons"
We stayed here for a week as a beach vacation. To be honest the hotel felt a little rundown and was a bit of a disappointment compared to the other Hilton hotels we've stayed in. The toiletries were in tiny bottles too small to last even one day, the couch in our room smelled, the sun loungers by the pool were uncomfortable and in the shadow of the […] hotel building for part of the day, the business center had only 3 chairs, and they often didn't get round to cleaning our room until 4pm. However, the hotel is only a block away from the beach, and is a fair bit cheaper than the other 4* hotels in the area. it's still a decent hotel, just not quite as nice as we were expecting. The manager was very nice, but the woman that gives the information of what to do in the city, is one of the people that have that judgmental atitud, she's was looking at me with a face that she was smelling caca and she wasn't helpful at all!!! We had to go out to the vallet people to ask for information! The hotel show a picture right on the beach […] but it's not, you have to walk !!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pro's and Cons"
Rooms appear to have been retrofitted which was nice. The bathroom is on the odd side with the sliding closet door located behind the bathroom locking door, and there are floor length windows behind metal blinds on either end of the bathroom. The blinds cover for privacy but turning the bathroom lights on at night will light the room and wake others. […] Not widely publicized in any description unless you read fine print, is a $25 per night parking fee but that's common for other hotels too. Their 24x7 restaurant and bar is handy for those used to different time zones. The food quality in all the restaurants is very good. The biggest negative to me was the traffic noise. Delivery trucks would park and leave their air conditioners run, sometimes for hours at a time making the balcony useless. Sleeping with the sliders open to the breeze was fine. The pool isn't that great. Located on the top of the building its of course shallow and there isn't much of a view. Some plastic/glass walls instead of concrete would fix that. There is small bar but the food service is weak as its ordered through room service and doesn't seem to have any expedited delivery. The common areas are nice and I thought the staff was genuine in wanting to serve and please their guests. I'd rate the staff at the higher end of the scale. All in all, if the price is right relative to other hotels while not perfect, this is a very good place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location to beaches, shopping, and food."
I would recommend this hotel because of its location and it was pretty updated. Upon arrival, however, we had to wait to get into our room as it was not ready. A worker took our name b/c it was our honeymoon, and he seemed excited to "celebrate" that, but nothing came our way. Once we did get into our room, some of the walls were filthy (looked like […] soda was sprayed all over), and the toilet was dirty! Concierge was helpful but not too helpful. hotel was nice but was disappointed in bar that was in lobby and pool. bartender was great but its odd that the bar is in open area of lobby. pool was on 10th floor and has a bar but no music or anything attracting. pool was smaller then the one in my back yard but was nice but had no flare. also the restaurant and bar have about 5 choices for appetizers […] and not many other things for a mid day snack. I enjoyed the fact that the hotel was about a 5-7 min walk to the beach. I would pick a different location next time, though. You're about a 35-60 min drive to Pearl Harbor, North Shore, and a Luau (such as Paradise Cove). Mac is an excellent restaurant, but not if you're on a budget. "A discount hotel at a Waikiki price.."
This hotel is just OK.. not great. The AC in our room was broken but we were able to wiggle some wires on the sliding door to get it to work most of the time. The room was not very clean with stained carpets and overall showing its age. The pool area was under repair the entire week so the pool was very cold and hot tub always packed. "Clean with nice staff but I wouldn't recommend"
Very noisy with doors walls open. Rooms very clean and neat but narrow. Also for the money you can shop around and not be on the block behind the main strip which is much better in terms of walking at night. We only stayed here because we couldn't get our whole stay at the Hilton Hawaiian village which is the ultimate hotel to stay at in Waikiki!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not the Best Proximity"
Having traveled to Hawaii a number of times, this was our first time staying in Waikiki. Although the hotel was sufficient, it was not as nice as one would expect considering what you have to put up with surrounding the hotel itself. The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the beach/main strip which is a short walk. Surrounded by a number of run […] down buildings, it was a little uneasy walking to the main street/beach area in the evening. Especially considering three or four ambulances/police/fire dept sirens ran calls by the hotel each night. The pool area is located on the 10th floor & had limited ocean views. Mainly we were staring at roof tops from adjacent building. Very sterile & unattractive setting. Although the room was clean with a nice ocean view, it was difficult to get over the surroundings to fully enjoy what might otherwise be a nice place to stay. If you do stay here, do yourself a favor & stay on the ocean view side. Anything less would be a complete disappointment if you are looking for a "paradise" setting. With that said, Waikiki is a terrific place to stay if you are looking for a high energy environment. Great beaches with surfing, paddle boarding, boating, bars, restaurants, shopping, etc.. However, to get that "tropical" feeling you will be better served to stay somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Response by Hilton Waikiki Beach Thank you very much for the review of your recent stay with us. Please accept my apologies about the tardiness of cleaning your room; this will definitely be brought up in our daily housekeeping meetings. Aloha.
I only gave it a 3 because house keeping kept telling me that they come from a poor country and that is why she has to work. I am on vacation and really don't want to hear that. Just cuz I vaca doesn't mean I am rich, it just means I saved. The noise from the street is very loud and the check in staff was very very nice in getting us a new room. They […] were wonderful. The room was a it small for us. I would prefer a small table with a couple of chairs for the kinds to eat their snacks. The location was great. Concierge was not helpful at all and some what rude. I actually talked to 3 of them and they all had attitudes. Again I give a+++ to the front check in staff. They were all very very nice and helpful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great view, beware of cockroach"
The location is a little off from main activity and about 5 mins from beach. the one big downer is that a cockroach creeped up from the washing basin and shocked my wife and I. There was a leaking A/C unit above the ceiling of the toilet as well. No free Wifi is also a big disappointment, Otherwise, I loved the view from the room. Bed was comfortable. Response by Hilton Waikiki Beach Thank you for your comments and taking time to write your review. Please accept my sincere apologies about what happened with the insect. We take every precaution we possibly can to not let occurrences of this sort happen at our property, but the fight against the tropical climate is a tough one. I, also would not be thrilled if I were to be in your shoes, I am always available to discuss further and make this better. Aloha.
"Small rooms but convenient location"
Pros - Convenient Location, close to the beach, good customer service - they gave us the guest facility rooms to use once we had checked out for our red eye flight Cons - very small rooms and bathrooms, obstructed views, not so great concierge services, no wi-fi in rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A bit of a let down"
This was my second Trip to Honolulu. Last time I stayed at The Modern Honolulu and loved it. The Hilton is far less appealing. At this price point I expected a lot more. The local is great but the rooms are small, the decor is boring, and there is only a small closet for storage. The pool area is on top of the parking garage and needs some serious remodeling. […] The restaurant is marginal at best and overpriced even for Hawaii. Not a dump by any means but I know where I won't be staying next time. PS The rooms with a "mountain view" really overlook the bad area of Waikiki and the "mountain" is far from impressive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hilton Waikiki Prince Kunio"
The hotel was OK - but we thought we had booked on the Hilton Hawaiian Village, a very different experience. The hotel is located 1-2 block back from the beach. It was just a regular, comfortable and rather boring hotel, more business-than leisure oriented. Charging for Internet access was a downer (more than 10 dollars per day). On the good side, […] a large flat-screen TV which could be connected to a laptop with a cable from reception, meaning that we could watch Netflix movies at night. Friendly and professional staff. But pricey for the rather bland experience it offered. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent hotel, great parking location"
Overall, this was a decent hotel. The room was pretty nice and clean (aside from the fact that they twice forgot to clean our room). The balcony was a nice touch (two seats outside) and we had a pretty nice view of the mountains on the 19th floor. It was a plus that the hotel was further away from the more popular areas along the beach - less traffic […] getting in and out of the area. As others have recommended, if you rent a car, skip the valet parking and make use of the parking structure, which is located right next to the hotel, along Kuhio (on the corner). We stayed at the hotel for 6 days and bought a week pass for $60 (to avoid paying for individual tickets for each day). The parking spots are pretty tight and the layout of the structure is very inconvenient, but it was close to the beach and hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Really a 3-Star Hotel"
This hotel is not up to Hilton standards and should receive a 3-Star Rating. The rooms are very small with a tiny bathroom for 1 person. The tiny closet was inconveniently located in the bathroom as well. You can’t move around in the bathroom if the shower door is open. However, the housekeeper kept the room clean. The Mac 24/7 Restaurant located […] in the hotel has a really nice atmosphere. However, the food is horrible. They could use a lesson from Chef, Ramsey. How do you get fish tacos to taste like absolutely nothing? And how hard is it to make breakfast food taste good. Needless to say, I realize Hawaii is not known for great food (unless you don’t know any better). After a few bad restaurant experiences, we stuck to what we knew (Benihana’s, Ruth Chris, Cheesecake factory, Roy’s, etc.) The concierge gave us bad referrals. To name a few: (1) The Oceanarium Restaurant in the Pacific Beach Hotel. I should have known the food would be just as gross as the smell of the restaurant. Over priced for the nasty food served at the buffet. (2) The Spa Olakino at the Waikiki Beach Marriott across the street. The only thing good about this spa experience was the view from the lobby area as we waited to receive our massages. Amateur massages for $160 per person. The locker rooms/bathroom was overcrowded and small. You had to change your clothes in the bathroom stalls (Tacky!). I could have paid my BF $20 to give me a better massage. We were very dissapointed with our hotel and where it was located. I was under the impression that the hotel was on the beach, but when we arrived it was over a block and a half away. Very missleading on the website discription.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice location, 1 block from Waikiki beach...It's in an urban and densely packed neighbourhood, even the ocean view rooms were not very removed from it all. Hotel is clean, efficient. We had a red eye flight back and the front desk very graciously gave us the use of a room for an additional few hrs. We really appreciate that gesture.Genuine Expedia guest review

"No problems, might go back"
Good service from front desk, valet, and bartender. Front desk was patient while we changed rooms to accomodate all 8 people. Pool area turned out to be very small and not really worth the effort. Good availability of beach towels and free lobby internet. Despite a recent major renovation, rooms are beginning to show some wear (e.g, room 1103 had torn […] wallpaper, drooping shower curtain rod, broken cabinet door to safe). HDTV with actual HD channels and empty bar fridge (for water, etc...) were both helpful as well. We expected better from a 4 star hotel. The drain in the bathroom sink was broken. Rather than fix it,they just removed the drain plug! We rented a car for one day. We returned to the hotel for approximately 2 hours and was forced to use the valet. They charged us $25 for parking even though we were guests of the hotel. The location is convenient to all in Waikiki - just don't walk around at night. The neighborhood deteriorates with drunks & homeless folks. Hotel staff were friendly & helpful (front desk). Room service missed the mark - delivered the wrong food (PANcakes at nite instead of CRABcakes - an easy mistake I guess); then promised to reverse the charge & […] instead charged it twice. "Not bad for the price"
Overall the hotel is good. THe hotel facilities are real good since it just went through a renovation. The rooms are decorated with taste. The size of the room is a bit tight. "Decent enough hotel, but overpriced"
We got an oceanfront room but found that was misleading - the hotel is a long block away from the beach and has a church obstructing the view, so we were pretty disappointed. Maybe the higher floors are better but the ocean would still be... far. There was also tons of road noise when the balcony door was open, so we couldn't really enjoy the breeze. "Not what I expected"
When you see the picture of this hotel it seems like it is next to the beach and it has facilities in the shore. "Hilton Prince Kuhio, Waikiki"
This is a decent, middle of the road hotel near Waikiki beach. It's proabably about a block and 1/2 walk to the beach. The rooms were clean but small. Customer service was average. The pool area was OK. This hotel is definitely not up to par with 4 star hotels I've stayed at in larger cities; but if the price is low, it could still be a good bargain […] because of the location. I would not stay here again for vacation, it lacks a spa and other ammenities that make a vacation a vacation. At first, I thought I would consider staying here if I were in town on business, but internet access in the guest rooms carries an additional fee and free wifi in the restaurant is frustratingly slow. The on site restaurant is really good though. Plates average $15-$25, but the portions are so large you could easily share. Rooms are modern and comfortable. The phone started ringing continuously at 2am. Maintenance was quick and we got another room. Service was wonderful. The pool was not impressive. Valet parking only at this hotel, so plan for the additional cost with no alternative option. The view was decent, mountains on one side with lots of apartments surrounding, […] ocean on the other side at a distance. The picture is misleading from the ocean view. I would not recommend the hotel for the price we paid; we paid approx. 550. per night--for nothing exceptional; there are other Hotels in similar price range that offer substantially more; for example, the Royal Hawaiian. When i pay these prices, i expect first class accomodations, in first class setting, with first class service....period! "A little small"
We only stayed one night after arriving back from Maui and before leaving for home. It was very cramped for 4 of us and a baby, compared to the other 2 hotels we stayed at. Inside is actually quite nice with an interesting bathroom. Quite spacious and The broken glass effect on the windows was a nice touch. The main problem was that the shower door […] opened such that you had to step inside the shower to turn the tap on. This meant getting sprayed with cold water initially if you forgot to turn the shower head to the wall. We had a great view of the ocean from our room as well which we did not expect. In comparison to the other hotel we stayed at which boasted ocean views, we were able to see much more of the ocean at the Hilton. We requested for a cot when checking in, but it never made its way to our room. Hubby had to go down to the front desk and ask because our room phone did not work when we pressed all the buttons. It did arrive promptly after that, but we were quite surprised that it wasn't the usual portacot, but an old fashioned white metal cot on wheels which did not fold up.
