Had a great stay! We never really had to leave resort. The staff was incredibly accommodating. Our first night we got very little sleep due to our loud neighbors. The hotel quickly changed our room the next morning and were very nice and helpful. Staff was great start to finish - will go back.

The only thing that was frustrating was the wait for dinner at the restaurants. We went to all four and it was over 1.5 hours. Hard to do that with little kids. also that night it sounded like Vegas outside our room. Lots of late night partiers being loud and stumbling back to their rooms.

The resort is beautiful, the staff is fabulous. The only complaint is the rooms, they are not up to the standard of the resort commons. The water park is wonderful and the fact you can get waited on while sunning in a lounge at the park or the hotel pool is the coolest!

The stay was very nice. The hotel is beautifully decorated this time of year. Was very dissapointed though on the morning we checked out. We had over $70 in additional fees. As we stayed two nights there were two resort fees and two days of parking fees. Thought these fees should be included in the price of the room. If you go to Ice and eat there the […] parking is validated, we did both but were still charged. When we checked in they wanted a $100 deposit and said that will be a hold but would come off, they didn't say that there would be any additional charges that would be applied. This certainly ruined our stay, we won't be going back. It's more of the fact that at check in we were not told about these fees probably on purpose as there is nothing you can do about it after the fact. Read more

We stayed overnight for the holidays and the Christmas spirit was a delight. Decorations and lights are impressive. But the hotel was a little disappointing. Instead of fitted sheets, top sheets were used so my husband was constantly tucking in the sheets. And the mattress and beddings are not comfortable at all. My kids even said this is not a fancy […] hotel because I told them it was for the price I paid. No microwave noted when having kids with us, is a necessity to warm up foods if they go hungry bec they cannot eat much with all the excitement and when back to the hotel, they will look for food. Family oriented. They probably needed more staff on Christmas selling tickets for special events. Responded quickly to request for foam pillows. Only complaint is that the buffet breakfast was OK, not very good. And the Texan Restaurant didn't have salsa on request.

Despite all the things to do there, I don't find any advantages to paying so much for a room. There are no perks to the hotel guests over the visitors. I couldn't even get in to a restaurant to eat there. I had to leave. I tried to eat an overpriced breakfast buffet but the wait was tremendous. Ice show was shorter than a couple years ago. Wonderful room, all decorated with Christmas lights, got the family in the Christmas spirit, over one million lights were turned on, we were there when they turned them on for the first time, They had a fireworks display when the lights were first lit.

The Gaylord's new resort-style swimming pool is way better than their old pool but you have to take a shuttle to it, which makes it impossible to to pop back to your room for any reason. We went in August 2011 so the new pool was VERY crowded - hard to find a chairs, tube-to-tube in the lazy river and people everywhere in the big pool. I mean crazy-crowded. The […] service also wasn't that good. Upon check-in I asked for a roll-away bed. Hours later, I called down to ask again and was put on hold then finally got a live person. An hour later I called again, and again was put on hold, this time for more than a few minutes so I just hung up. Finally at 10pm, I went to the front desk and asked where our roll-away was and they finally sent it up. The next day my husband called down to asked for a late check-out but no one would pick up the phone. He was on hold for 5 to 10 minutes and told he could check out :30minutes later - thanks... This hotel is very family friendly but the only family friendly restaurant gets very crowded. We waited for probably 20-30 minutes to sit down for breakfast. The paradise springs addition was very much worth it! We r a family of four & it was awesome to go to a pool with all the cool extras & lazy river that was not packed & we did not have to fight the crowds! Food was a liitle bit of a let down but over all lots of things to do!

Drove down from OKC for a 1-night stay with our 4 Yr old & 1-Yr old. If staying longer, Great Wolf is better for kids, but Texan had some neat activities for the kids that evening--balloon sculptures, "fishing" for prizes, pinatas, etc. The room is pricey for what u get, but we knew to expect an extra $32 for parking & silly resort fee (the only part […] we used was the bottled water, at $8/bottle apparently since no time for Internet or gym.) We enjoyed the water park--it was free on our stay but they will soon charge. Nice lazy river, but they don't allow floats for babies or other outside pool toys. When you get into the hotel lobby, you are speechless. Design, decoration, luxury.. amazing Rooms were very clean, kids were happy at next room. Atrium was lovely. One Live Oak replica costed them 250,000 USD (this is what written in front of that tree) I could not guess what was spent for the rest. You should check in early to go around.

Christmas is magical here. We felt like we had dropped through the rabbit hole to a magical wonderland. Mimes, Santa, Gingerbread, carriage for photos, lights, music; it could not have been more beautiful. Personnel were all top-notch, the food delicious. We are ready to return.

We had a two-day, one-night "staycation" at the Gaylord - I'd always wanted to stay there. My two teenage boys and I took advantage of the pool (and had lunch out there from the pool bar) and we ate at the Texan Station (I think that's the name) restaurant, having bonafide Texas BBQ. The fantasticc atrium of the Gaylord was decorated with an Alice in […] Wonderland theme - with cool decorations and a giant chess board (my boys played, had a blast).. Our room was decorated in true Texas style, and it looked out onto the pools beyond the front entrance and out onto Grapevine Lake - I can't imagine a better view from the hotel (although it would be cool to have a room that looks into the atrium right by the giant fountain in front of the Alamo facade. There are lots of fun things to do in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and visiting the Gaylord is one of those fun things. To call the inside an atrium does not do it justice. There are roads and trails and bridges and rivers in there! It is simply amazing. We enjoyed our stay until it came time to check out and hundreds of people showed up for some sort of conference. We just walked out rather than check-out, hoping they'd get the total right (I think they did...). Stay at the Gaylord Texan - or at least drop by - it's one of the top sites in DFW. Read more
