My husband and I wanted to have a quick little weekend get-away for our 1st Anniversary, and had gone to Cape May for a mini-honeymoon a year ago and... loved it! The Beach Shack was definitely about 10 steps up from other beach motels I had stayed at in the past! The staff was very friendly, the hotel was clean and comfortable. Not knowing what to expect for the room (which was right by the pool, though due to colder weather we weren't able to use it) we were very pleasantly surprised. You walk in to a little living room area with a sectional couch, flat-screen TV, microwave, mini refrigerator, sink etc - then through the door to the bedroom itself which was sizable and had a decent bathroom. My biggest complaint is probably the shower's water pressure, but having vacationed throughout the Jersey Shore my entire life, that isn't an isolated complaint to this hotel. Last but not least, right across the parking lot (free parking at the Jersey Shore? ALWAYS a plus!) is The Rusty Nail; a great laid-back restaurant with delicious food and friendly service! We ate both dinner the night of our stay, and breakfast the morning after there, sitting outside with a view of the beach and the beautiful ocean breeze!
