At this price point, hotel was just perfect ... except for breakfast and bath tub caulking. Caulking securing panels above tub was not clean. Everything else in room and hotel was clean. Breakfast plates were poor quality. Two child cereal selections. Cereal bowl cracked a bit as a I picked up full bowl with one hand. One of the two juice selections […] was inoperable/broken. Hot coffee was dispensed from two urns ... both were empty and it took seven minutes before attendent filled one. No eggs. Very good value for $56 (total costs). Read more

An entirely comfortable stay at a bit-worn hotel. The price was unbeatable and thus helped my non-profit budget. It could use new beds and a more robust breakfast, but it was quiet, very close to my appointments, with a friendly staff.

When checking in to my room there was old foodin my fridge and my microwave was dirty. I told the staff. The apologized but did nothing. Had a pleasant first night otherwise. Left in the morning for business and returned atfer working a 14 hr day, heated dinner in my dirty microwave and satdown to eat it when I was greeted by a HUGE roach crawing up […] the curtains! I freaked. I told a woman at the desk and she came in, scooped up the bug and left with it. Her attitute was clear that she was used to doing so. The woman offered me a different room but I had ALOT of gear and needed to be up in 6 hours for another long day so I declined. I slept very poorly worrying about the bugs. In the morning I found a squished one by the backside of the heater. I left and worked my saturday and when I came home that night at about 10pm and went to use the bathroom only to discover that the room above me had flooded thier bathrrom and mine was now covered in funy brown water. I ouldnt even shower! I again told the staff. Thier answer for me was that they no longer had a room to switch me too but they could arrange for me to shower in another room in the morning if I wanted. When I said they needed to make this right for me they said they couldnt do anything for me because I booked with this hotel service. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Read more

Not a great hotel, but not too bad either. It's not too expensive and the location in theory is not bad. If business requires one to come to Newport News, this Days Inn is a decent place to stay. It is clearner, nicer, has a better breakfast, and a nicer staff than any of the other area budget hotels.

The Days Inn Oyster Point City Center is not what is advertised in it's website. First I drive past it because the hotel sign on it's front entrance awning was completely ripped off. Secondly the stairwell leading to the upper floors look as though someone had spilled old cooking grease down the stairs, it it kind of smelled like it also. Hotel was kind of run down and receptionist was slow in checking us in. They asked us if we wanted our room made up and we told them just towels and they ran out of washcloths. The picture in the ad is nothing like the hotel pictures on-line. Great location but exterior appearance isn't real good. Additionally, hotel smelled funny and receptionist had […] to be found as she was always smoking out back (and the smell permeated the lobby).We left there after our obligatory 2 nights and stayed somewhere else. The hotel was in walking distance to the Oyster Point Center, which had a couple nice restaurants and shops and a big fountain.
