"Not a horrible place to stay, but outdated"
The room was okay, we were on the 3rd floor and the elevator was down so that ment climbing 6 flights of stairs with luggage. The room had a weird smell and there was no outdoor pool as listed in the add or childrens pool? (confused). "Don't Even Think About This One!"
This is a tired old hotel, and definitely not worth whatever discount it represents in comparison to the newer hotels in town. We stayed in their "deluxe suite" which was a larger rooom with 2 queen beds, but the amenities were less than deluxe. Old TV with limited channel options, semi-warm pool in a separate building from where we were staying, room […] was on the 2nd floor with no elevators, noisy heater in the room that kept kicking on every 10 minutes or so, no hot water in the morning! This Days truly needs a renovation. The personal was friendly and helpful. The acomadations were very old, when entering the elevator all you can smell is a strong odor of diesel fuel or grease. The walls had patches of non sanded - non painted sheet rock patch. Worn out and not well maintained. "Disappointed"
We liked the location and price, so we tried it. Upkeep on the room and the facade was terrible. We did not see any evidence of the "recent renovation." The toilet clogged when we arrived, and after calling the desk and waiting awhile for someone to bring a plunger, we realized they expected us to go to the office and pick up our plunger and use it […] ourselves. (They had to hunt for the plunger first while we stood there waiting.) The heating unit was extremely loud, so we had to turn it off. The room was very small, but the bathroom was even smaller. No maid service the first night (we stayed for 4 nights), so we used dirty towels and emptied our own wastebasket. They must have remembered we were there the subsequent days and did bring fresh towels and emptied trash then. Stayed two nights, first night A/C went out, next morning there was no running water and we waited for at least two hours and needless to say we left the room without a shower that day. "Is what it is"
This hotel was a great value and the location is awesome. It's at the end of the strip but within walking distance to most everything. I particularly enjoyed the location because this is last hotel before the Smokey Mountains National Park entrance. You can easily walk directly into the park, but you'll need to drive to get to most of the trails. Even […] though it was labor day weekend I had no trouble parking in the back. I booked rather late so I ended up staying in a handicap room which had a walk in shower as opposed to a tub. The beds were clean, the front desk was polite, the tv worked, the internet did not. There was a very foul smell coming from the bathroom which was a nuissance but it didn't really affect the room. We didn't stay in the room very long as we spent most of our time hiking and enjoying Gatlinburg. For the location, cleanliness of the beds, and convenience it was a great value. The air did not work in the room. I reported it and they tried to fix it but after going Thur 4 air conditors . The maintenance guy said that one worked and keep it on 66 and it would cool down the room , well it didn't till the next morning and that's we were leaving. Staff was not friendly at all! King size bed with a loft which was nice. Bathroom was small. the sink and mirror was in the common area of bed room which was not convenient for four guests staying together. Breakfast was donuts from the store and ceral. This is for the "Suites" room only. We checked in for a one night stay. The room was a good size and was clean. Very small bathroom. In room jacuzzi wouldn't hold water. Air conditioner shut off every minute. When we called the front desk to make them aware of the problems no one would pick up. After the 3rd attempt to call someone finally answered. […] I was rudely and abruptly told they would send maintenance. Maintenance showed up quickly and couldn't fix anything. He finally came back with a rubber stopper for the tub. Our family was very excited to get to the hotel but when we seen it we were disappointed in how old it looked. This hotel didn't look anything like the pictures we got online. We decided to give it a shot anyways because it was so close to all the attractions. When we entered our room it seemed clean but after two hours of being there we noticed that […] the carpet was filthy. Dark carpet hides alot! Our whole family had black feet including my 15 month old son's butt from scooting around on the floor. We had to keep our shoes on the whole time! This hotel needs work! There was rust around the bathtub and ants inside the tub. We seemed to make the best of our stay here but will never stay again. "Disappointed - Price Good, Service OK, but Maintenance Condition Horrible !"
I must admit, I booked this hotel to save $$...and I did, but I wouldn't do it again. My wife and I were at the end of a nice vacation in South Carolina and decided to spend the weekend in Gatlinburg on the way home to Ohio. Since we always spend more than expected on vacation and were heading home, I was looking for bargain hotel. The Days Inn price […] was great compared to other possible accomodations and the room size and features were what I expected for the price, but the condition of the facility rates from bad to horrible. There are lights out throughout the facility, floors are dirty, carpets stained, doors are difficult to open/close, locks don't work, the bathroom has apparently been recently remodeled, but the toilet is now so close to the vanity/sink that you can't sit down without touching it...and we're fairly small people...it was very annoying. The service at the front desk was OK , the bathroom was clean, towels/sheets clean, but I would not stay there again and would advise anyone else to avoid it as well. I remember thinking as we were walking back to the hotel one evening that I would be embarrassed to bring anyone back to the hotel or to our room. I was very glad we were travelling alone. This older hotel, although somewhat spruced up, is not a good value for the amount charged. Small rooms, bathroom door didn't close, hot water took 15 minutes to appear in the shower.
