We did a quick overnight here on our way to Kansas City. Our travel was severely delayed by a snow storm, and we booked this on the road. I love Red Roof's pet-stay-free policy and it was a relief to be able to book a cheap room last minute and have a safe place to bring my cats, who were traveling with me. The room was adequate, but had absolutely […] no frills. I've stayed in other places for the same price and had a few more amenities (like a fridge and microwave in room, and breakfast...there was free "coffee"...more like brown, coffee-scented water, but it was free). It was clean enough and the beds were comfortable. There is a famous restaurant with an owl logo, which is known for scantily clad ladies (name is censored by this site) right in front of the hotel, and in general it didn't seem like a fabulous area, but it was right off the highway, which is a big plus. The help at the front desk was very friendly. There was a little PR "spin" on the envelope our key came with. It said "We, like many of our guests believe in simplicity and economy without giving up quality. This isn't about eliminating frills; it's about focusing on the meaningful..." Ha ha- cracked me up. room was clean except for the shower which had hair on the walls. I called to have it cleaned and when I returned the next evening, it was still there. The beds weren't very comfortable. This hotel was what you would expect for the price. We weren't there much, but did miss having a pool to cool off in at night. Amenities were few: no hair dryers, no coffee in the room, had to ask for towels and could have used a little more cleaning up. The hotel is in a good location. Not as close to Westport as you would think though, but only a short 5 minute drive or cab ride. The room was clean enough and decently furnished. when i made the reservation on hotels.com i ckicked on non-smoking, for some reason it ended up reserving a smoking room with a preference of non smoking. So my family was stuck in a smoking room, thank goodness for febreeze to help with the smoke. The clerk @ check-in was rude and had a very nasty attitude. I stayed at Red Roof Inn St Louis - Westport while on my cross-country road trip a couple weeks ago. It was my second day of driving and I had to find a place to stay once I reached St. Louis. I located this hotel on Expedia using my mobile phone, and it offered the best price for a single occupant. It wasn't the most convenient location because I […] was driving from the West, so I had to drive about 10 miles north once I reached St. Louis, but it wasn't a big deal because I had already driven 18 hours that day. I needed an air-conditioned room with a bed, TV, and shower, and that is exactly what I got. Check-in was easy, even at midnight as a gentleman manned the front desk. The room was air-cooled and the shower was hot. Plenty of movies on TV included. Wi-fi also included. There were no pools or gyms, but that was okay since I didn't want to stay for the whole weekend. If you don't need a pool or TV, that shouldn't be a big deal anyway. Check out was easy as well, but I agree with another person's assessment that the lady manning the front desk (it was 11am) was unpleasant. I would expect someone to say, "Good morning," or just be friendly, but it seemed she didn't want to be. Hey, we all have bad days, but maybe this lady has them more often.
