"Old Charm, great service"
Very friendly & courteous service, from the front door on. Neat old hotel, old, but taken care of. Looks like they will be renovating soon. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I chose the Roberts Mayfair due to the clear picture they posted of their two room suite. It accommodated me and my three college students on our trip to enjoy the St Louis Symphony's Concert & Recording session of the John Adams Saxophone Concerto with soloist, Tim McAllister. The room was configured just right for the professor to have his own space, […] while the others were comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked on hotels.com months ago and when I got there the rooms were all sold out. They did find a room for me, but wanted me to pay increased price. I ended up not paying any more, but was aggrevated that the situation even arose.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The description is misleading. No refrigerator in rooms, no pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was friendly (although we only saw two staff members the entire 2-night trip), but the entire hotel was completely run down from the front doors to the room. It looked like it had been updated a couple of years prior, but there had been no work done to maintain it at all. The hallway on our floor had torn and stained carpet, the walls needed […] to be painted, the light fixtures were broken (some were just bare bulbs), some doors were just open, and our room was much of the same. It was clean enough -- we didn't feel like it was dirty at all, but the run down nature of the building made it hard to think that it was actually clean. We didn't feel safe, because there is no security on the front doors (they don't lock or even look secure) and the person at the "front desk" was often away from the desk talking on their phone. We felt like we were the only people in the hotel -- we only saw two other couples. I guess we were the only one's dumb enough to spend $109 staying in this run-down hotel. We also were frustrated because Hotels.com said that they have a rooftop pool, which we were looking forward to using. But when we got there the information about the pool was crossed out and someone wrote "no" over it with no explanation. Our room door was hard to open and shut, and someone had carved a number into our headboard. It just felt like a complete scam. I would never stay there again. We spent most of our trip out of the room, luckily. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I just loved my room, from looking at the lounge you wonder does the rooms look anything like the lounge as the lounge was outdated. My room was awesome!!!!! I was very pleased with the service. Would I recommend this hotel, yea I would!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I think it meant well"
Overall it wasn't bad. My husband and I were only there for a night. We stayed due to the price and proximity to Washington Ave. We only slept there so it served it's purpose, I guess. The weird thing was it had a "red light" installed in the bathroom. Not sure if that was creepy or sexy...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very old hotel"
The hotel was really old (built in 1919 I think) and it appears to never had a major remodel. It wasn't a bad stay but for 20 bucks more a night, you could stay in a much nicer and newer hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Everything was pretty good!"
The only complaint I had about this hotel was that the elevators constantly smelled awful. They had a very wet, moldy, and musty smell. The cafe and pool weren't open, which was also disappointing but didn't ruin my stay by any means.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"blocks away from Busch stadium"
Very quaint, cozy hotel. It only took about 2 minutes to check in and we were on our way to the room. It must be an old hotel because we stayed on the 13th floor, most hotels don't have a '13th floor'.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"New Years Stay"
Made a last minute booking and stayed with another couple in a king suite. It was one of a few rooms still available in the city at late notice so my expectations were tempered. But my hopes were high for the price. All in all we didn't spend much time awake in the room, but overall the experience was good. So here are the down sides...the staff were […] ok but unprofessional. I felt like I stepped into a MASH unit as check-in felt like triage. The hotel is a really old building with original and small elevators. There were 2 nice but non-working TVs in the room. But on a high note everything was clean and beds were comfortable. "U get what u pay for"
Not bad. However, the standard king is so small. We had 3 rooms and chose to have the double double because it was cozier and nicer setup. Downfall was its October and its an old hotel and the temperature is regulated. It was 34°outside and the AC was still on so the rooms were freezing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had two suites for 10 people, first room we got smelled like tobacco even though the hotel claimed to be smokeless. We got another room and it was nice. Near the Arch, but no breakfast and you had to pay for parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Mayfair served the purpose"
Was impressed with the comfort of the beds, had a 2-double bed suite with sofa-sleeper, which accommodated us well. The staff, particularly daytime front desk attendant Sharon, was super nice, and very helpful when I inquired about a place to just grab a quick bite to eat without spending a ton of money. We were only there for one night, so the inconveniences […] we encountered were not terrible. The bathroom sink was clogged and filled in a matter of seconds when trying to shave or brush teeth, for example. Also, ice and vending machines are located only on certain floors, and the 2 ice machines closest to me were empty so I had to ride the elevator 3 times before finding ice, and NONE of the soda vending machines worked, whether they were empty or the bill taker was not working. But those are issues that are easily resolved, and it's quite possible that few guests have ever brought such things to the attention of the staff, as guests can often get sidetracked, much like I did. The hotel was obviously an older one, and the elevators can only hold 4 people, 2 if you have a ton of luggage, which in a hotel, is often the case. But I also know from visiting other cities and hotels from the same era that this is common among hotels built around the time the Roberts Mayfair was. All in all, it was a convenient place and priced at a decent value. I would have no problem staying at the Roberts Mayfair again if I find that I will be in the neighborhood again. "Don't Stay Here"
This was my second time staying at this hotel, and both time were not very good at all. The first room they gave me smelled like smoke and had to get a different room. The second was dusty and dirty, there was blood/other stains on the comforter, black marks and smudges on the walls, there was no towels/shampoo/soap. I called the front desk and it took […] almost 2 hours to get any towels and then I had to ask again for shampoo, as the front desk failed to notify about the shampoo/soap. There were only 3 working ice machines out of all the floors. It was just an overall bad experience and don't recommend that anyone stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great room in historic hotel"
The room was great. Nicely furnished room in a beautiful, historic hotel. Loved the floor plan. Convenient location to arch, Landing and local restaurants. Quick drive or possible walk to Arch. Reasonable walk (15-20 min) to City Museum, passed local shops and restaurants. Really liked location. Wish they had designated parking, but Renaissance Hotel […] parking garage is close by. Only drawback---hotel service was OK. Lobby was frequently unmanned and we had to wait in what we assumed was the 'lobby.' Although, we did arrive late at night. Great location - walking distance to the Arch, Busch stadium and many bars/restaurants. Hotel was decent although room set up is awkward with the television cabinet directly in the middle of the room. Comfy beds. Free WiFi. Parking was $16 a day in the Renaissance Grand parking garage. "Great Location & Value, but Needs Better Parking"
Loved the location and charm this historic hotel offers, especially for the value. Yes, some things could use updating, but nothing major. Mainly some of the elements leading to the room. Once inside the room, everything was clean and appeared to be updated. We were happy with looks and quality. Bed was one of the more comfortable I've slept in during […] a hotel stay. We would stay here again, and recommend to friends & family. However, there are some things to note. Perhaps a small thing, but you best grab your drinks & snacks BEFORE retiring for the evening as the machines are limited and not in locations the signs state (we never found snack machine, just the soda machines). Second thing is parking . The hotel itself does not offer valet service, or even have it's own garage. You are left to use either a public parking garage, another garage that appeared to be for an adjacent hotel, or park on the streets. Garage parking varies, but runs somewhere between $15-20/night. So be sure to factor that into the equation. If on the weekend, you can street park for free (assuming you can find a space). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cold room and loud neighbors"
I have to admit that this is a great hotel if you dont want to sleep any. The staff was very courteous and the room itself was kept clean. The problems with the room was the fact that the heater did not work at all and the walls where PAPER thin....I am hard of hearing and have to wear hearing aides but when I have them out it is hard to hear things....not […] the case...me and my husband spent 4 hours listening to the couple next to us....talk about lack of sleep...plus on top of the fact that the temp was 35 degrees and the heater was not working was another bad factor in the lack of sleep...overall the staff was pleasant. They found us a shuttle to the casino and were courteous in giving directions to the football stadium. I will recommend this to anyone who can go with the lack of sleep to a baseball or football game but otherwise no. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful but not parking friendly"
I stayed at this hotel for a night during the week. I loved that it was close to St. Louis nightlife. However, their site or any site for that matter tells you that if you have a vehicle and need to park that you have to park at another hotel's parking lot for $16 a day. It sucks because you have to walk pretty much a block to the hotel itself which […] is not good if you have luggage and it's cold (in which case that was my situation). Also, there is no bell service. On top of this, when I checked in the gentleman that was checking me in was VERY unprofessional. As he checked me in he was having a loud conversation with whom I can only assume was an acquaintance about how that person needs to hook him up with an iphone. Then he continued his loud conversation as he talked to me. Oh, they have a really STUPID hotel policy about using a debit card versus a credit card which the gentleman carelessly did not mention to me when I gave him my card. If you choose to give them a debit card, they do not put a hold of the card for the amount of the room, they actually take it out and won't return it until after 10 days. It makes no sense. "Mayfair - St. Louis"
I got a very nice room (probably not the one I paid for), big bedroom plus a living room, 2 TVs and a big walking bathroom on the 16th floor. The hotel is located one block from Washington St., where it "all happens" and conveniently close to the Arch. It is a very nice "vintage" decorated hotel, there is a grocery store almost next to it. "Great Downtown Hotel"
I booked this room, before reading the reviews. After booking, I read a lot of negative reviews on hotels.com. And I was super scared that I had made a mistake. However, after arriving at the hotel, I realized none of those reviews were true. This hotel is great. The building is old and I love that they kept all the orginiality too it. And yes, the […] elevators are small, but they are original to the building. My room was very modern. It had a full sitting room with a couch, 2 chairs, coffee table and flat screen. The bedroom had two super comfortable queen beds ands a flat screen. The bathroom had a nice vanity area and large hallway. "The Roberts Mayfair - A Wyndham Hotel"
Overall the hotel was not awful but I will never stay there again. The beds were so uncomfortable, I felt like I was sleeping on a board. There was also a dirty washcloth left hanging over the shower rod. Very gross. "The Roberts Mayfair- St. Louis"
The location of the hotel was wonderful. Walking distance to the main drag. Full of good food and bars. The hotel rooms were not clean enough for me. We found rubber bands, water bottle caps, child's rubber band wrist toy, and a bathtub that needed a good scrubbing. I booked this hotel for the rooftop pool. On Sat. the pool was to open at 8:00 am and […] I had to go to the desk to complain at 9:30 when it still wasn't unlocked. The maintenance man showed up about 10:30 to unlock the pool. It was upsetting to the group. The same problem occurred on Sun. when the pool was to open at 9:00 and at 9:30 was still closed. I was told that a manager would need to come in to open the pool. I'm sorry to say that I would not stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Roberts Mayfair St.Louis"
Check-in time is 4pm and they mean 4pm. We got there at 2pm and were told to come back in about an hour. We came back 3pm and they said they still didn't have anything available. We came back at 10min to 4pm and they still didn't have anything. About 4:15pm I was finally able to check into my room. The next challenge was getting us and our luggage […] up to our room. They have 3 elevators and 2 of them were out and the one working elevator could fit maybe 5 people without luggage. The bellhop was nice enough to take us up in the freight elevator to make things a little quicker. All in all the room was nice and clean. It's within walking distance of Busch stadium and a few different bars/restaurants. Also a $10 cab ride from, I believe, their main bar area in the City. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful Stay in a Timeless Charmer"
My best friend and I had a great stay at this wonderful charmer of a hotel!. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the lobby and the wonderful site of a friendly faces. The staff was so nice and welcomed us right away. We were upgraded from a King room to a Queen Suite. The elevator even had old hotel charm! when we entered our […] room we were surprised at how big and lovely it was. I immediately tried the bed... so comfy! Everything was just so lovely. We decided to explore the hotel and checked out the weightroom. We wanted to see the rooftop pool, but it was locked (probably because it's winter). On the 18th floor there is a Suite called the Carey Grant, we wanted to see the room. By chance we ran into an employee who let us view the suite (which was beautiful). The hotel is within in walking distance to almost everything vistors would want to do in Downtown St. Louis. There are pubs, bars, coffee shops, and restaurants, not to mention the 10-15 minute walk to the Arch. Our stay was wonderful. We have already decided that we will stay at the Roberts Mayfair next time we have a girls weekend. One last thing that nmade me so happy about this hotel was the honesty of the staff. On my way home from the weekend, I realized that I had forgotten my ring in my hotel room. I immediately called the hotel who said they would check my room and call me back. Within ten minutes the manager of housekeeping called me back and informed me that my ring was found m=by the housekeeper and returned to her and put in the safe. I couldn't believe that the ring was actually turned in! The hotel overnighted my ring to me (at no cost to me). **Some things that I didn't like about the hotel: no parking. We found two of the few free parking spots on the block. Another thing, while there is a small coffee cafe in the hotel, we had to go to the hotel next door for a bite to eat and a drink. The Shula 347 is not yet opened at the hotel so there's no room service or anything Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
