"Charm & Location Perfect - Hotel itself a big mess"
charm of historic hotel and great location. Desk staff amazing. Unfortunately room was old, a mess and not cleaned. Heat never worked, shower was dripping and bed linens were dirty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Mayfair hotel was very old and clean. The only complaint that we have is the front desk help was so unfriendly and if you ask them a question you felt like you were really bothering them. We asked for more washcloths because they didn't leave us some and the housekeeping came to our room and said he thought he left his phone here. He came in and […] it was plugged into my charger cord. Not good!! The staff should not be touching our things. We did tell the manager. We would not stay there again. "Horrible not expecting that"
We arrived to the Mayfair right at 4 the short describing passage of the hotel says that floors 3 to 17 have views in the rooms I was facing a white wall outside my window... Also when I walked in the were black stains all over the wall the tv was unstable and no cable channelsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, but terrible cleaniness"
Check-in was very easy and front desk attendant was very nice. That is about the only thing great about my stay. Getting to my room I found it to be very dirty and even the sheets were not clean. I called the front desk and they very happily put us in another room. However this room was too found to be unclean along with the sheets. I was moved a third […] and this time to a two room suite. This was the cleanest of all the rooms and ended up staying here for the two nights. The hotel is a very old building that shows its age and while they tried updating the rooms, it does not come across that the upkeep is done properly. The restaurant and pool were being renovated and could not use them. The gym was not very clean and the equipment was not in very good condition. The internet was hard to connect to and then had very poor signal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very old hotel. We waited to check in for close to forty five minutes because there was only one person working the front desk. This was a Friday at 4 pm, which is check in time. Great location and really nice staff. This is an ok place if you plan to stay over a night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst Hotel in downtown St Louis"
If I had been staying longer than one night I would have found another hotel. This place has not been updated since the '80's and it shows. Worn carpet with holes in it, no hot water, no amenities, remotes that don't work and broken coffee makers in the room. Not worth the cheap price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ok if you're not spending a lot of time inside"
When we arrived the toilet was consistently running, we called the maintenance and they were to come while we were at a baseball game. Got back at 11pm and the toilet had stopped running, my son used the toilet and flushed and it then kept running through the night and didn't work for us from that point on. The staff did not seem to care at all that […] we had a room without a working toilet and refused to accommodate in any way. On the bright side, the bed was comfortable, but the rest of the room needed some fixing. There were multiple issues with peeling paint and other aesthetic issues that need addressing. Not recommended and I will not stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"There's better in St Louis"
Hotel is conveniently located by Edward Jones Dome and not too far of a walk to Busch Stadium. Parking for the hotel is a block away so I hope it's not cold or raining when you go here and you don't pay per night, it's per hour and you have to pay every time you come and go. The elevators are really really small and can maby fit 3 people with their […] luggage. Neither of our remotes worked for our tv. The hairdryer is so hidden that I couldn't even find it until we were packing up to leave. They don't offer a continental breakfast of any kind. Their wifi is horrible so don't expect to get much done using that. There is a store under the 2nd parking garage so that's helpful but you don't have a fridge to put anything in. There are many many other hotel options on downtown St Louis! Don't waste your time here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"!!NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED BAD!!"
Hotel looks to be somewhat updated but lacks anything outside of a clean room. The TV was very fuzzy on every channel. The pool on the roof was non existent. The in-room dinning was in the directory in the room but not in existence. No help from front desk finding any food to be delivered in. The vending machines in the hotel were supposed to be on […] every other floor but we only found one that would not except paper $ nor a credit card in its swiper. Staff was decent but not extremely helpful or friendly. It is however close to the American Center but that was the only perk. Place needs serious attention to detail and customer service. "Could be so much better."
Great historic hotel but really needs updated. Stingy with the towels much??Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was friendly (although we only saw two staff members the entire 2-night trip), but the entire hotel was completely run down from the front doors to the room. It looked like it had been updated a couple of years prior, but there had been no work done to maintain it at all. The hallway on our floor had torn and stained carpet, the walls needed […] to be painted, the light fixtures were broken (some were just bare bulbs), some doors were just open, and our room was much of the same. It was clean enough -- we didn't feel like it was dirty at all, but the run down nature of the building made it hard to think that it was actually clean. We didn't feel safe, because there is no security on the front doors (they don't lock or even look secure) and the person at the "front desk" was often away from the desk talking on their phone. We felt like we were the only people in the hotel -- we only saw two other couples. I guess we were the only one's dumb enough to spend $109 staying in this run-down hotel. We also were frustrated because Hotels.com said that they have a rooftop pool, which we were looking forward to using. But when we got there the information about the pool was crossed out and someone wrote "no" over it with no explanation. Our room door was hard to open and shut, and someone had carved a number into our headboard. It just felt like a complete scam. I would never stay there again. We spent most of our trip out of the room, luckily. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not for family"
The hotel was very nostalgic, but not at all comfortable. We even had to buy fans for our room to stay cool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When first arrived and checking in, the smell of the lobby was atrocious. I understand it's a "historic" hotel, but the odor makes you feel like you're walking into a sewer - same for the elevators. While checking in, the desk person said, "Just so you know, our restaurant & pool are not accessible." The whole reason I chose this hotel was because they […] had an outdoor pool. Nowhere on the website states the facts; supposedly they've been shut down for over a year; would've been nice to know. The only thing I liked about this hotel was a comfy bed & close to most attractions. I will never again choose The Roberts Mayfair, never. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel has long seen its "glory" days"
We choose this venue as it was cheaper and closer to the venue than the host hotel for a show. The hotel had no parking, the lobby smelled like urine and commercial bug spray. The staff was accommodating with getting a cart and getting checked in however the night staff were SHADY. They scammed one couple of our some money to "upgrade" their room that […] they had already secured through reservations. The room that I reserved had no Wi-Fi, no refrigerator and no microwave which were offered as amenities. The fitness center was not sufficient and the pool was closed indefinitely. When I went to clean water on the tile entry way in our room - the amount of dirt that came up was appalling. I am glad that I kept my shoes on during the stay in the room. I realize that this hotel has "history" but the hotel has seen its glory days. I will never stay at this hotel again. I will spend the extra money and stay next door at the Renaissance hotel that has valet parking, a restaurant and Starbucks. Oh the only floor to get ice is on the 13th so don't try any other floors. No heat in first room. Moved to second room and tv in bedroom did not work. Moved to third room, tv in bedroom worked for first and second day only. Paint job in rooms horrific. Restaurant closed and no vending machines. Carpets filthy, hair in the tubs of two of the rooms. Was told I could use a personal space heater instead of changing rooms, I declined […] offer and insisted on room change. "Decent place, weird room"
The entryway to this hotel was quite stunning, but that is where the impressiveness stopped. The hallways for the rooms were bleak and depressing. The doors were those hollow metal doors that make you feel like it used to be secured, yet affordable apartments. Upon entering our room, we were greeted with a huge free-standing entertainment center at […] the foot of the bed ... in the middle of the room. This is where the tv was (which did not work at first; but after a call to the desk a maintenance person went out to the junction box and fiddled with some cables). We had asked for a fridge for the room. It was delivered shortly after we checked in and appeared as old as the hotel. It did work, but it too was just put in the middle of the room - wherever an outlet was found. The staff were friendly and helpful though. The bed was comfortable and sheets were nicely cleaned. Bathroom was nice, roomy and shower worked well. Lots of things within walking distance, as you would expect being downtown. The "cafe" on the first floor kept strange morning-only hours, making grabbing a snack an event more than a footnote. There was no covered parking connected to the hotel itself, but they have an arrangement with the nearest parking garage 1.5 blocks away. Overall, I was let down with this place, but it served its purpose on short notice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't do it!"
I have to say I had very high hopes for this hotel. The location and the price really drew me in, but it was the pictures that made me decide to stay there. The lobby is old and small, but fine, the elevators again are old and small, but are fine for our purposes. The things that really bothered me was the room was uncomfortably small, I mean SMALL […] and cold. It was 40 degrees outside and it felt like they had the air conditioning on in the hallways and the room itself. I switched the heat on, but the thermostat didn't seem to really work because the air that came from the vent was freezing cold. We stayed in the regular (non-suite) king bed room and it was like purposfully bad for a hotels.com customer. As soon as you walk in the room you hit a wall, turn to the right there is a small sitting area and go down a narrow sort-of hall and there is the tiny bedroom area. The accomodations were not any different than that of a Super8 or something, I was highly disappointed. Maybe if you spend an extra $20-$40 for the suite rooms maybe it is a bit better, but I tend to doubt it. On a Wednesday night I doubt the hotel was that packed that they had to stuff us on the 15th floor in that stuffy room, it seems like others have had the same experience as we did, so it wouldn't surprise me that it is the same room for all Hotels.com customers. Oh, one tip for the cold water- let it run for a good 10-15 minutes before you even think of hopping in! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The old dirty hotel in downtown st Louis."
My overall hotel experience was the hotel was not clean the elevator was very small and not vacuum, our hotel room only had 1 small waste basket in the living area no can in bathroom. The bathroom toilet was cracked and tub was dirty. Also the room carpeting was very duty and the sofa bed was dirty. We was told the room came with a frig, when we arrived […] no refrigerator was in room. We called desk for one they came with a frig that looked like it came out a back alley trash. It was only after I checked out I was informed that an immediate refund […] to them was 5-10 days. Now let's discuss the room my room was quite nice. I have no complaints besides the fuzzy picture of the tv and the useless remotes. Then downstairs near the lobby its a Cafe that's only open 3-4 hours a day and closed on weekend but not to worry they don't havemuch of a menu anyways. There's no parking you have to pay the renaissance hotel $16 a day to use theirgarage to park. The foreign staff complained about how they were owed a couple of checks and wasn't getting paid on time because the hotel wasn't doing well financially. The pool was still broken. The gym has outdated equipment and I can honestly say the best thing about this stay was the room and the WiFi. They have no kitchen no room service and you are gonna spend more money than its worth her. Yu add it up fromthem ganking you out of $50 extra dollars a day to the parking to the money you're gonna spend on fast food while there believe me not worth your time especially if you have children it wouldn't b anything for them to do at this hotel except watch tv and sleep. Hotel is old. Could not get wi/fi to work, business center internet is slow also. Refrigerator costs $10.00 a night but they tried to charge me $20.00 per night. No microwave and […] walls are not insulated well. We heard alot from the arguing neighbors. Elevators are small because of the age of the hotel. Could not fit bell cart and kids on same elevator. Should you need anything from the front desk, try another hotel. The front desk's answer to any of your concerns will be 'I'll ask a manager' to which a manager will not appear. The guy operating the front desk at the time of our check-in and then again at our departure, was arrogant and rude. If this review would have allowed it, I would have preferred […] to use more colorful language as a description for him. The overall hotel was torn between old and new styling. The elevators were incredibly slow. I called the day before to confirm that the hotel had an operating pool. I was assured that it was up and running and that I was approved for an early check-in. Upon arriving, we discovered the pool had not even been opened for the season and did not receive a room until after 5:00 p.m. May I mention that the standard check-in time is 4:00 p.m. The sheets in the room were dirty and the internet speed was incredibly slow. "Very Frustrating Stay"
My husband and I could tell the room had recently been renovated and the decor was nice. But that was about all. The main issues were with our TV. We were promised premium channels, only the channels were all too fuzzy to see or enjoy. When we called down to the front desk, a man come up to the room, pushed a few buttons on the remote and said that […] there was nothing he could do.... that we must just have bad reception in our room. We asked to move to another room and they said they were booked full. We met another hotel guest who said that they also had the same problem in their room. We were told someone would come in the morning to fix it. No one came. We called. No one came. We called again and were assured that it would be fixed by the time we returned from the Cardinals game. It wasn't. We called again. No one came. We thought that we would go enjoy the pool since our TV was all messed up. It was closed for renovation. No one had notified us that this would be the case. Parking was down the street at another hotel's garage. On the first day we parked there without trouble. On the second day we were told that we could no longer park there because it was being reserved for their hotel guests and were redirected to a garage 3 blocks farther away from the hotel. It was a VERY FRUSTRATING experience. I would never stay in this hotel again and I would never recommend it to a friend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My husband and I stayed at the Roberts Mayfair for our anniversary this past weekend. I chose the hotel for the price and location. The location was great. There were a few things that could have been better. As far as parking, the hotel does not have its own parking garage, but the Renaissance Hotel next door lets guests use their garage. The only […] drawback is each time you come and go, you have to pay. It was $14/night, but there were no come and go privileges. It would have been best to know this before going. Luckily there was a small grocery store that we could go to and get cash back. There were some parking spots on the streets, but they were metered and we never knew how often they were checked. The pool was closed due to hail damage a few weeks back, which wasn't a huge deal. The room we stayed in was at the end of the hallway and we thought "Oh a great corner room, it will be big." We were wrong. There was a huge armoire in the middle of the room that blocked the airflow of the A/C. We had a king size bed, and the bed was definitely a queen. It was a weird layout and a king wouldn't have fit anyway, but we should have been told that. It's not like the hotel was packed. We only saw a few people at a time in the hotel or lobby. The towels also smelled really weird, like they had painted the room and left the towels in the room.
