"Disappointing stay"
Not a good experience. I arrived at 1 PM, hoping to check in early since I had tickets to events downtown at the Spoleto Festival. No dice. When I finally checked in at 10:30 PM, I was given a room in a lower floor. Felt the two front desk staff were condescending, if not downright racist. Didn't feel they wanted to help me at all. The windows in my […] room were dingy, so that my "view" mainly consisted of dirt. Mary Beth who checked me in that evening made a big point of selling the restaurant view; soliciting business for the hotel restaurant. Very disappointing stay. Why the 4 star rating? The lowest rating is what this place deserves. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not staying there again"
This is an older hotel and we have stayed there several times in the past. This time, it was over Easter weekend the one of the two elevators was broken for at least a day and a half of the 3 days we were there. We found out from talking to one of the maintenance workers that the panel in the elevator had to be replaced. The elevator repair company […] provided the panel, but the maintenance crew at the hotel replaced it in the elevator. This may be common practice, but I don't find that to be reassuring. But the real problems were at the restaurant. One morning, two of the coffee cups at the table were dirty. The plate I picked up at the buffet had dried food on it -- this was in the clean stack. Another morning, my cereal bowl had a large chip out of the side. The coffee pots were always dirty on the outside -- were they ever washed on the inside? One morning, there were no plates at all on the buffet and no silverware on the tables. My husband noticed that when clearing a table, the waitstaff would sort out what appeared to be clean silverware, wipe it off and put it in a bin. They would then hand this back out to the next diner. He specifically asked someone for CLEAN silver, and the server went back to the kitchen and came out with a different set. We are assuming they actually were clean. But if all this is going on where we could see, what is happening back in the kitchen where we can't see? As convenient as this hotel is to family, we will not be staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"tiny pillows"
We had 4 miniature pillows on a king-sized bed that equalled one regular sized pillow. When we requested a larger pillow, or additional pillows, we were told that there were none in the entire hotel! Also the carpet in front of the bathroom door was wet the entire time we were there. Location was good but it was a tough nite's sleep!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel had bad odor in rooms and balcony door was disabled so you can't get fresh air. Smelled like $28 room at Motel 8 .....would seriously consider avoiding Holiday Inn Express after this experienceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel"
Loved the hotel and the free shuttle to downtown. Only thing I didn't like was not having a separate light in the toilet area. The room was amazing quiet since it was right across from the elevator.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Holiday Inn Riverview"
The room was extremely small! The bed was supposed to be a queen but was a double. When you used the shower water poured all over the floor! We would not stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Round Holiday Inn Charleston (Harborview)"
Do not stay here. The bar on the top floor is the nicest part of this hotel. They had one working elevator with no indication that the other was broken (stayed on Floor 2 for 2 days). When the heater/AC kicks on, you might as well be at the end of a runway so don't lose the remote control if you're watching TV. There is no desk, just a round table covered […] in propoganda. They have sliding-glass doors and small balconies, which are all closed off now (maybe a law), but what a tease. The bathrooms are typical for H.I. hotels, except the shower. In this case it might be set at 5'10 from the bottom of the tub... if you're over 5'10 you're ducking to wash your hair. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
