The King and Prince Resort has an ideal beachfront location, yet is only a mile away from the Village and waterfront park and pier. St. Simons Island features over 50 restaurants, numerous shops and galleries, a historic lighthouse and Fort Frederica National Monument. The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort features 6 oceanfront pools, including an indoor pool, challenging golf at the King and Prince Course, two complimentary har-tru tennis courts, a complimentary exercise room and miles of Golden Isles beaches to enjoy. The King's Tavern Restaurant is the only oceanfront restaurant on the island and the Ocean Terrace Grille features pool-side service. "Perfect for couples"
Booked this hotel through expedia after having stayed there 7 years ago. We told them that it was the night after our wedding and they upgraded us to a room with an ocean view. When we opened the door, the room had not been cleaned; we called the front desk promptly and they apologized profusely and moved us to an equally nice room, also giving us free […] breakfast buffet tickets. I was at the hotel in the off-season, a few days before Christmas. The hotel is spread across several buildings. I was in a building (Oleander) all by myself, off the main compound. "Nice with some reservations"
I would say the hotel is in a great locacation with plenty of local flair. However we were suprised at the lack of maintenance in our bathroom, (Specifically MOLD). Be prepared for higher than normal prices for food and entertainment, ( par for the course with resort spots ). One mishap was an order for two drinks at the pool, only to be charged 23 […] bucks for a ten dollar tab. Stayed for only one night as a stop over to another destination. This property is definately over priced and your basically paying for the fact that they are ocean front property. Overall it's a decent place to stay, the accomodations are similar to those at a Best Western or similar hotel but they charge like they are a high end Hilton or Ritz. The bathroom was decent but the door knob on one of the doors was falling off and the other door wouldn't close all the way unless it was slammed with some force, the toilet seat came loose before the first use and the bath tub and fixtures were all rusting. Lovely location and pool area is fantastic! Oceanfront rooms overlook the pool area as well as the ocean. Bathroom was on the small side but the bed was comfortable. Rooms seem to be a little dated for the price you have to pay, but having said that, we immensely enjoyed our stay here. We were sad to leave. "We felt cheated"
We paid for and were promised an oceanfront room with wireless access to the Internet. We only had a partial view which is far from being oceanfront. We asked to be moved and were told that our partial view was indeed oceanfront. NOT! Wireless is imperative to keep up with my business. Our wireless access room only received a signal if I stood in one […] spot in the corner of the room. We complained and a bell men came to our room to show us how to hook up, something I've done dozens of times. When he came up he was mystified as to why none of our 3 iPads and 2 iPhones. He told us it was probably due to the inline obstruction from the router. They did nothing to try to move us. When we first arrived we ate lunch in their restaurant. When I asked the hostess if this was the same dining room that we would also fo for breakfast she answered that they weren't surfing breakfast because it was lunchtime, looking at me as if I was crazy to ask the question she had thought that I asked. The bath towels were either frayed or had holes in them. Some had frayed strings hanging a few inches from the towel. The icing on the cake was the temp control on our shower. It turned loosely 360 degrees and kept going. The temperature was very difficult to set. Caution!! Their so-called oceanfront rooms are all ocean view. There are no rooms near the beach. The distance is about 300 feet. This hotel's advertising is false. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you the my oysters were the toughest I've ever had and my shrimp were mealy. With a little reservation. Room was old with fresh coat of paint and a few new appointments. Some of the old stuff was still there. Was in a small building off the main hotel though. We got a great rate for a spacious room with a mini-kitchen. The outdoor pool was closed for construction, which we didn't know about, but it was March, so we didn't really expect it to be open. The restaurant/bar is a little pricey, but good service, good drinks, and good food. "Good but..."
Nice ocean room (very small bathroom) with the exception of workmen working on the pools, that were not open. All the pools were being retiled and it was a mess. Noisey in the morning with the work being done. They didn't work on the weekend so that was better but still had a mess to look at. They give you a sheet of paper to put on the car dash that […] has your length of stay as well as room number on it in order for you to park the car. I really didn't like all that info being "out there" for anyone to view. Also had a group in for the weekend and as we came in for dinner we were seated in the room that the group was also having dinner in, as were other people not with the group. We should have known to ask for seating in the bar area as it would have been a more pleasant quiet dinner. The diningroom was very noisey with this large group. A detail that the restaurant manager should have known to tell the staff. Over all the staff was nice and I would recommend staying there as it is nice to be on the ocean. The breakfast was disgusting and we still had to pay for it. The indoor pool and hot tub is right next to the check in. Not appealing! The Island is amazing I will probably pick Ocean Lodge for my next visit. The King and Prince is actually outdated. Reminds you of the Titanic actually. Old Victorian style. The hotel is very nice. It had a nice indoor pool and the facility looked clean. There was nothing really special about the room, although they do have mini keurigs in the room which my boyfriend was very impresses with. I made an appointment for a couple's massage with the spa at the hotel and asked for directions since it was in another building, […] and the lady told me to call the front desk for directions. I felt like customer service was lacking there because she could have as easily given me directions instead of making me call the front desk. This hotel has several buildings that span a large area. The building we were sent to was clearly another hotel that The King and Prince bought and painted to match their own. It looked like a motor lodge and not a resort. The main resort area was a decent walk from where we had to stay. The room was dated and felt more like a re-purposed apartment.
