"Not as ritzy as the Ritz, but not as pricey either"
We were in town for a marriage conference a few blocks away at the Ritz-Carlton. We stayed at the Sheraton, because I was able to find a room for about $30 less per night. For this discounted price, we got a king-size bed in a room on the 11th floor, which is for "Starwood Preferred Guests." I'm not sure how/if those rooms are any different, except […] that they are higher up, and therefore, would have better views. Our room did not have a mini-fridge, but one call to the front desk and about a 10-minute wait solved that--at no extra charge! Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. There is a $9.95 charger per day per item for wi-fi use in your room, but it's free in the lobby. I saw two people with dogs, so I assume they are pet-friendly. The location is ideal in the Clayton City Center, with many excellent dining options in easy walking distance. VERY quiet area at night. Surroundings seemed very safe and clean. "Good location - Lots of hidden costs though"
I travel for my job and stay at least 140 nights a year in hotels and this so far has been my worst experience. It costs money to park, money to use the internet, and their is no free breakfast. For the price of the room they should include at least one of those. We got up to our room and there was no toilet paper or kleenexes. There were people hanging […] out in the hallway when we got up to our floor. We actually had to step over some people and their food boxes to get out of our room to go to dinner. "Exceded our expectations"
We got this at a great rate. So my wife and I had decided to be content with whatever this hotel had to offer. Once we got there though our expectations were blown out of the water!! The room was so clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was fantastic. Clayton is a neat little suburb with a great little crepe place we went […] to for breakfast. My only mark against our stay was when I called down to the frontdesk and asked about getting some more coffee in our room and the lady was very polite and said that she would send someone up. I called back an hour later and told here that we were getting ready to check out anyways, so cancel my need for coffee. She just said, "ok" and hung up. Outside of that though it was amazing!! "I never thought a Sheraton could be so bad!"
It was the worst experience I have ever had, and I really do mean ever. I travel weekly for work and stay in hotels all the time. The place smelled like sewer and the employees just said it was the hot air outside (it was 108 derees but I have never had air smell like sewer unless sewer was involved). There were dirty socks in our closet. And the kicker, […] the A/C did not work well in our room the first night and not at all the second. And the employees said there was nothing they could do. "Excellent hotel"
Sheraton Clayton was a spectacular hotel and a terrific experience. The room as extremely well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The only downside we had was the liveliness of Clayton; things closed very early and there was only a small block where restaurants and bars we opened. In no way did this have a negative effect on our trip, though. The MetroLink […] was within five minute walking distance of our hotel, and the clerks at the front desk were more then helpful explaining how the MetroLink works, giving us easy and quick directions to St. Louis, and suggestions of things to see and places to go. We had a great time in Saint Louis and kept very busy and loved having this hotel to come home to and relax. "Great Value"
Hotel was very nice for the price we paid. Beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable and the room was very clean. Bathroom was a little small but wasn't an issue. "Sheraton Clayton - Very Nice Weekend Away"
I cannot complain about this hotel. There were a few minor things - our room was two queen beds instead of one, which didn't really matter to us, and the in-room wireless is not $9.95 per device, it's $9.95 per device, per day, which is outrageous. However, in the hotel's defense, there is a free wifi spot in the lobby (good thing too, because the lobby […] computers are a little fussy). The pool was a tad bit too cold, but it was November, so I wasn't too bothered by it. We were on the 16th floor, which had a gorgeous view of the city. There were some disruptive guests, no fault of the hotel's, and upon calling the front desk, it was quiet almost immediately. We had plenty of hot water, the entire inside of the hotel was beautiful, and the shuttle service from the airport was a wonderful touch. There is a metro link station within a 2 minute walking distance, for those of us who prefer to walk and enjoy, or for those who do not want to pay $14 per day for parking. "The Shearton Clayton MO"
This was my second time staying at this location. Both times I was happy with the over all stay. The only problem this time was that the elevators were not working. There was ONE elevator working and they said the service elevators were available and they didn't open half the time. We spent about 20 mins waiting for service. We got a very cheap offer for a queen bed room and did not expect to get such a nice room! Very clean, comfortable and simply great! The Sheraton at Clayton Plaza was very nice. The room was spacious and extremely clean. The staff at the front desk upon check in were very friendly and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. "Sheraton Clayton Plaza- Convenient and Comfortable"
Overall, we were pleased with the Sheraton Clayton Plaza and would stay there again. We enjoyed the pool and hotel's location is surprisingly convenient even though it is out of the downtown area. We also enjoyed the restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The downside: our room was not thoroughly vacuumed, the sheets didn't fit the bed very […] well (strange, but true), and the elevators (only 2) are slow and heavily used making getting to/from your room difficult. The hotel had a 3rd elevator which was marked "Staff Only" but worked without a key. I would have appreciated a sign making it clear whether or not this elevator was really open for guests--we ended up using it out of frustration when we were caught in the middle of 3 large weddings going on at the hotel.
