Check in was exceptionally slow and the counter person was not in anyway apologetic. This is an old beachfront hotel that was converted to a casino after Katrina. "Might work for some, but not for me"
I did not come to gamble, I came for a conference which was held in the hotel. It really feels yucky as you go through the lobby every time: all these (mostly elderly) folks smoking, drinking, and gambling.. The room was OK. "Housekeeping"
The stay was going great until the moring of my last day at 9:30 am housekeeping was banging on the door in spite of the fact that the privacy-do not disturb was displayed on the door. With an approved checkout for 12 noon, again at 10:45 housekeeping was banging on the door and finally at 11:55 they were banging on the door again. "Not Impressed"
The location and proximity to the beach are just about the only things going for Treasure bay. The hotel is being renovated and they are attempting to upgrade but it is a dark 70s 'ish style place. Casino is low end. The smell of stale ashtrays and smoke smack you in the face as soon as you walk through the door. "Tub or Shower"
Great hotel for the price. I have booked it a couple of times through hotels.com. Last time was much better experience. They only had 1 elevator working and I got a shower only. "Renovations - elevator"
I've stayed at this property MANY times, and like the hotel for the price, accomodations, and location. However, they're currently down to just one elevator... and with 8 floors, and an elevator that only holds 8 people, be prepared to constantly wait to go up and down. I asked how long the reno would take, and was told it'd be until the end of July... […] but then they'll renovate the OTHER elevator and the same problem will exist for another 6 to 8 weeks. Also, on this particular visit, I pulled up under their canopy at Valet, and asked for a bellhop to help bring all our luggage up. I was told "we only have one working right now, so it'll be about 15 minutes". "The view was Amazing!"
I really enjoyed the agent that made my reservation. The hotel was nice but as soon as you enter the lobby, you are hit with the smell of smoke from the casinos. As I was checking in I was told I had to put an additional hold on my credit card even the room was already paid for. If I did not agree to having the extra $100 held, then I was told I would […] have to forfeit my room. I felt this was a bit much. I later had problems with my deposit being released. After much pressure on my end I was able to get one of the managers to held me get the issue resolved. It took a while and I really had to press her. I only have one complaint about the hotel, it is very smokey there regardless where you go. When you walk in the lobby from outside you are hit w/smoke, the elevators as well regardless what time of the day you use them. Had an amazing view of the water from my room, nice way to start the day and end it. Way too much smoking at the lobby desk. I couldnt breathe during check in. I was their for business and I couldnt stand the smell of my clothes because of the smoke. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice room, at a good price. However, the cigarette smoke in the lobby and check-in area was horrible. I tried to hold my breath each time I ran from elevator to the door. Most casinos I have stayed in have all had air circulatory systems that keep the smoke out of the lobby area. There was a train that ran past the hotel thru the night, but after the first night, and a pair of ear plugs that wasn't so bad. "Let Me Disappoint You"
Every little thing they did wrong. Missed my wake up call. Failed to bring extra towels when asked. TV was so bad it was like watching 60's quality TV. The entire staff was not friendly.
