The Sugar Beach Resort is located in North Kihei on the sunny south shore of Maui, Hawaii. Overlooking scenic Maalaea Bay and the West Maui Mountains, the resort enjoys convenient access to many of Maui's recreational facilities, sightseeing attractions and restaurants. Located between Kihei and the village of Maalaea, the resort has a secluded ambience.
Hotel Features.
The beautifully manicured landscaping and beachside location are made for relaxation. Long walks on the beach, days spent whale watching and breathtaking sunsets await guests at the Sugar Beach Resort. The blue tropical waters of the Pacific mingle with fine white sand, and the beach is only steps from the hotel's pool and sundeck. Guests of the hotel have access to a putting green, jetted tub, tennis courts and barbecue grills.

Dina's Sand Witch - Cool, quiet, and festooned by dollar bills and other currencies signed by visitors, this is an amiable spot serving big sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, and bar foods along with tropical drinks.
The Kihei resort offers two tennis courts and a putting green. The activities desk can arrange many other recreational activities in South Maui. There are 17 golf courses in South and West Maui, including four resort courses and one public course within 8 miles of Sugar Beach Resort. The activities desk makes reservations at them all.
Also through the activities desk, the following beach gear can be rented: boogie boards, body boards, surfboards, boards with masks for viewing underwater life, snorkel sets, chairs, and umbrellas. Snorkeling and scuba-diving trips to the island of Molokini off South Maui can be booked through the activities desk.

Kihei has many big-city amenities, including notable restaurants. Here, visitors can sample Hawaiian cuisine and learn about the state’s obsession with SPAM, the canned meat. Kihei’s beaches—Kamaole, Keawakapu, Kihei, and Mai Poina—are good for walking, swimming, and windsurfing. Makena Beach, south of Kihei, is aptly nicknamed the Big Beach. This beach is 100 yards wide and almost a mile long.

"Sugar Beach Resort"
Overall the stay was great, We thought we had paid higher rate for a renovated room by the pictures that were advertised on hotels.com. When we checked in it was the unrenovated room they had advertised at a cheaper price. We were disapointed but when we contacte Maui home and condo they showed us a room that had a few updates and offered us to switch. […] The view was better from the original room and we already moved in so we didnt switch.The room was fairly clean but definetly worn out and could have used a carpet wash or tile through out. Overall it didnt ruin or holiday and still had a great time in Maui with so much to do. The resort it self was well maintained with pool and hot tube in great shape. "Outside of lack of services was an excellent condo"
Loved the room, and being right on the beach. Room was very well maintained as well as pool area. Front office staff very helpful. Small office on site to book excursions as well and they were very helpful in planning out our time. Local store was another matter entirely, as they pretty much opened and closed whenever they saw fit for our first few […] days there and then closed completely for the majority of our visit. Would not have been a big deal outside of the fact that we only rented a vehicle for part of our trip expecting to spend most of our time on the local beach. The condo unit is located quite a ways from the next closest market and we were VERY frustrated that the resort promoted an on-site market and then failed to deliver. With 2 small children we needed that service that was expected. We definitely plan to return to Maui but will be selecting a different condo closer to all the action.
