Kihei has many big-city amenities, including notable restaurants. Here, visitors can sample Hawaiian cuisine and learn about the state’s obsession with SPAM, the canned meat. Kihei’s beaches—Kamaole, Keawakapu, Kihei, and Mai Poina—are good for walking, swimming, and windsurfing. Makena Beach, south of Kihei, is aptly nicknamed the Big Beach. "not so good"
We found a cockroach about the size of a half dollar in our shower. The a\c unit sucked and didn't cool the room off and the parking lot was packed with cars for the resturaunt next door. So if you don't care about cockroaches, a hot sleepless night or no where to park then this hotel is great for you. I won't ever stay there again unless I had too […] ! "Old and cramped"
This was one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. Everything was old and uninviting. The wooden shutters did not close fully, and it felt like everyone could see into our room when they walked by. The walls are paper thin - the couple right next to us had a screaming fight and you could clearly hear every word (including the constant swearing) […] through the walls. Bathroom was icky. Would not recommend this place at all. Only good aspect was the friendly staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Days Inn Maui Oceanfront We are sorry we fell short of meeting your expectations during your most recent travels; we hope that you were still able to enjoy all that Maui has to offer.
This hotel was a disappoint even for Day's Inn and was grossly overpriced even for Maui. The room was so small that there was barely room to walk around the bed, no room to open a suitcase, and no place to sit. It was dark and gloomy with only one small window that opened onto an alley and was useless for ventilation. The grounds were small and there […] was also no place to sit outside. There are so many better places to stay in Maui, avoid this one. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was the worst hotel room we have ever used!!! It was the size of a postage stamp with paper walls and floors. We could hear the noise from the room next door and the room above. The AC was loud and cycled from 5 seconds to 2 minutes, had to shut down. The mattress was awful, like soft foam. It had a good shower and a good, but old TV. Very poor […] value at $240, should be about $60. I plan to write to Days Inn . VERY, VERY, BAD!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad maintenance and space"
TV and phone didn't work in second room I was moved to because of the same problem in the first room. Bathroom so small no room for accessories.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our hotel room was small, dirty and dank. We were very disappointed to say the least. We thought that we would be able to look past it after staying for a few days, but it definately threw a damper on our short vacation. Never again!Genuine Expedia guest review
The air conditioner didn't work, the wi-fi didn't work and the side walk was always dirty with birds droppings.Genuine Expedia guest review
"What was a gem is now crap!"
We have stayed at this little hotel at least 1-2 times a year for the past 4 years. On our first visit we were surprised by how tiny the rooms were, but they had just updated some of the furnishings and window covers, and it was very clean...so the size was not much of an issue, especially when it is located so close to one of the best beaches on Maui. […] Since that first visit, we have seen the Oceanfront Days Inn go into decline. The first year there was a lot of rain. The awnings tore and the rain gushed & flooded the upstairs walkway to 211-212. That awning has still not been repaired. The shutters are broken and cannot be closed unless you tilt each one individually. The shower stall is peeling, there is a big dirty glob on the wall as you walk into the bathroom. I did not ask for housekeeping until the 3rd day. When I asked to have the room cleaned at 11am, I came back at 3 pm it had still not been cleaned. The housekeeper blamed the office, the office blamed the housekeeper. I watched as the maid walked into the bathroom, flushed the toilet and removed the towels and put up clean ones. (She did not bring in any cleaning items, not even a toilet brush) then she started to make my bed. I had to ask for fresh sheets. She did not even change the pillow cases. She did not dust, or do any other cleaning other than emptying the trash. Being in a great location does not excuse the awful state of this hotels decline. The manager was not available each time I asked for him. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
4x4 room with paper thin walls. You can hear everything around you and above you. Air conditioner is too lauded to let it run through the night. We weren’t able to sleep because of noise and hot. Bathroom’s fan was sound as a aircraft ready to take off, a lot of mildew in the corners of the bathroom. It's unsafe for any who has alergy or asthmaGenuine Expedia guest review
"Pictures can be misleading"
I travel a lot in my job and have visited Hawaii many times for business over the past few years. I thought I would give this hotel a try. Reviews were good as were pictures of the area. However the room was extremely small and stuffy. The carpet was dirty and the shower was slightly larger than a phone booth. The topper with when the AC unit in the […] wall started making noise at night and woke me up several times. Needless to say I will be making other arrangements for my next trip to the Islands. "Small rooms, high cost, poor value for money"
We were very disappointed that a room for this price was such poor value for money. The rooms we stayed in or saw have no or very poor views and are very cramped. The first one made available had a leak from the a refrigerator and smalled bad. The lobby also smelled unpleasant when we checked in. Keep looking and avoid as you will be very disappoi […] nted. My husband and I stayed here just one night because the condo we had rented for our stay was not available until the next day. The young woman on the desk was very pleasant , the sheets were clean the location is right by a beautiful beach. Those are the nice things I can say, the room is small, dingy, old and just plain yucky, could not wait to leave […] the next morning. Such a shame that a location like this is wasted on such a run down hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Beautiful location . The room was nothing that I had expected expecally for the price . Everything was cleaned everyday the staff was great just hotel out dated. I think . The restraints connected to it was amazing . I really wish I could have more time in and around the room but it was not that desirable . "Dark shoebox with greasy floors"
My partner and I had a terrible stay at the Days Inn. The room was dark and dingy, right across from the grinding ice machine. The floors were greasy, we had to wear our shoes at all times unless in bed. There were unpatched holes in the walls of the bathroom. The blanket on the bed was dirty. The location is okay, you can swim at the beach, and the […] restaurant (Sarento's) is decent. We do not recommend staying at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed in Maui"
This hotel is located on a beautiful beach with great restaurants nearby. My husband and I checked in hoping to enjoy our last night in Maui. The bathroom was in disrepair, with a cracked window and a hand held shower that swung from a pipe on the wall. Keeping in mind that spring break was in full swing and we were traveling with others, we thought […] we could deal with the shower. Half way through the night we discovered that the air conditioner was not working effectively. Both the air conditioner and bar fridge were frozen, producing ice and dripping water on the floor. "horrible service from manager and bed bugs"
hello we were bookied to stay at the Days in Maui Oceanfront for 3 night to end off our great vacation in Maui. We arrived and was greated by a great night front desk staff. We had read other reviews of the hotel so we were confident we had made a good decision to stay there. Upon getting to our room we looked around and was totally discussed by the […] lack of cleanliness of the room, dust hanging from the wall sconses, cockroach or some very very large beetle in the bathroom, stained sheets and the ring of dust on the ceiling around the fan. We decided to check out the bed for bugs and lifted up the sheets and discovered that we were not the only ones that wanted to sleep in the bed. We used a napkin caught the little critter and took him back up to the front desk. The somewhat horrified clerk called her manager,Grace who instrucked her to put us in another room and she would be in in the morning between 8.30 and 9 to talk with us. As it was very late we reluctlantly changed rooms inspected that room and only found the dust and the beetles. We serched on the internet and discovered the best way to protect yourself from bed bugs is to put all your luggage and personal items in bags and close them tightly so we went back to the front desk and was told they didnt have any bags that they could give us. So back out we went at 11 pm to the store to get bags. We had a very uncomfortable sleep but thought that it would al be sorted out in the morning. We were once again wrong, the morning clerk was rude, abrupt never offered to call Grace at all to see when she would be in as it was 9 15 and still no Grace. We cancelled the rest of our stay and got another hotel for our remaining days. We were refunded our 2 nights that we never stayed at the days in by Hotels.com as we NEVER EVER got any call from Grace after checking back 3 times leaving our cell # and not receiving any even apology or even a call from the manager.
