"Be careful of shuttle!"
The stay was fine. Getting there was somewhat trickier! We phoned the shuttle as directed. A shuttle arrived which was going to Wingate but when we got there it turned out to be the wrong one! There are two Wingates in the airport area and we had been taken to the wrong one and the shuttle driver had left! It was after midnight and we had been travelling […] for 24 hours. Although the website says they provide airport shuttle service, it is NOT 24-hour service. I picked this hotel because of its proximity to the airport and was counting on their shuttle service. "Horrible shuttle service"
I needed a room for an overnight layover at DFW so I picked a close low cost hotel near the airport with shuttle service. I just wanted a bed and a shuttle but I only ended up getting the bed. Their shuttle service ends at 8:00 pm and doesn't start in the morning until 7:00 am. I arrived at 7:15 pm, got my luggage, passed through customs, and went to […] the hotel shuttle spot. There was none there so I called the hotel at 8:04 pm and was told that their shuttle service ended at 8:00. I took a cab to the hotel ($28 with tip) and tried to arrange a shuttle back in the morning. I was informed by the desk clerk that the first shuttle started at 7:00 am. I had an 8:00 am flight so that was cutting it too close. I had to hire a taxi to get a ride back to the airport for a flat rate of $40 so the cab fare ended up costing me more than the hotel room. First, I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Irving! I drove up 4 hours from Houston only to find I booked the wrong day. The hotel was nice enough to change the booking and give me a bed for the night. They even looked up an address for me to get a car charger for my phone as I had left my charger at home. Even better was that the alarm clock worked and was easy to set. I was disappointed in my fellow lodgers who were up loudly roaming the halls after 1 am. They made it hard to sleep. Had made reservations early and asked for two rooms - one needing a crib. When we arrived, no crib. Asked for one again and was told it would be in the room on our return. Went to be with family and when we returned with two very tired and worn out with two very tired Christmas children, there was still no crib. The only negative thing I can say about this hotel is that they said they did not have any rooms available when we arrived at about noon after leaving early in the morning and traveling for five hours with an infant. I was there to see my surgeon after having surgery 6 weeks earlier. We really needed to rest. They just said they didn't have any clean […] rooms and that check in was at 3pm, which we knew. The girl was nice but stubborn about it. After being there for two nights, I realized that they HAD to have had some clean rooms because they start cleaning them early in the mornings. Maybe they didn't have two rooms right next to each other, but... they had rooms. That aside... our stay was wonderful. The rooms were wonderful. The breakfasts were wonderful. We were there to visit our brand new granddaughter who arrived two weeks early, and her mommy did not want her in public yet.
