"Questionable management with customer concerns"
One of the reasons I booked with this hotel was the 5 mile distance given from the Gaylord Texan where a conference I was attending was located. It was listed on the hotel description that shuttle service is provided in a 5 mile radius. Upon arrival I asked for a shuttle to the Gaylord upon which I was told was 10 miles away. I was upset with this information […] and was quickly assisted with finding high cab and rental car rates. I took it upon myself to rent a car at a better rate only to discover that my destination was not 10 miles away, but only 5.5 miles away via 2 different routes. The general manager was very unconcerned with my situation other than readily assisting me with the process of other transportation. I did bring this observation up to one of the two front desk employees involved, who did nothing to remedy my inconvenience along with that of the other two guests with me. He did state that he did not agree with the decision of the general manager and would have allowed the shuttle service if it were his decision. Since this hotel came up in my search for hotels within 5 miles of the Gaylord Texan, I trusted that there would be no problems with my stay. "Hidden parking cost if leaving car"
Quick check in, clean room, comfy bed. Breakfast was good. We asked the front desk how we get the shuttle on the way back and then they asked if we are leaving our car and then proceeded to tell us that it would be a flat fee of 29.99 to leave your car at their hotel while on a trip. This is not mentioned when booking at all. Of course people are staying […] here to park/fly- it's right next to the airport. At least let people know of the charge. Also, when we got back to the airport we had to call the hotel for the shuttle. It took 40 minutes for us to get the shuttle after we got our luggage (we were told to call back after we got our luggage). The hotel uses a company that transports guests. "Odd Room"

"Works for me...."
The hotel worked for me for the amount of money I paid for it. The outside appearance of the hotel was great, but the room took 5 hours to cool down, even after putting the unit on 60 degrees, although the air conditioner did drown out the sound of the airplanes overhead. It's near DFW, so we expected noise. The room was ok, nothing special, very dark […] (so it should've been cooler!) and there were a couple of holes in the wall from where the sprinklers had been, and quite a few worn places on the floor that needed to be repaired. The beds were great however, and we got an excellent nights sleep. Although we didn't swim in the pool, I got a chance to look at it, and it looked wonderful! Perfect location in the courtyard. Breakfast was your typical HI express breakfast, with plenty of room for tons of people to eat and read the paper. Service was friendly, and it was in an excellent location for Grapevine Shopping and the mall in Lewisville. "Great for Some things and NOT so for others"
The rooms are amazing - large and clean. The hotel overall modern. The breakfast area substantial and the selection very good. So why only a 3 star rating. It's the other things that mattered to us. We were simply laying over to catch a flight in the morning so the location was great. But here's where the service broke down. When you arrive at the airport […] we called the hotel for the shuttle. We were told it would be a 10 to 30 minute wait. It's only 3.5 miles away. We later realized that there are 5 terminals to service. When we called back after 30 minutes we were told by the front desk that there was some construction. When we called back a little later we were told by the same guy that the shuttle had broken down and would be there shortly. After waiting a little while longer we decided to take a cab. The front desk apologized for our delay and offered us a snack and a drink. No they didn't offer to pay for the cab. When we asked again about the delay we were told the construction story by the same guy. We requested a wake up call. No wake up call came so it's a good thing there was a radio in the room. On the return shuttle trip which you must be sure to book as there is limited space, the shuttle did not appear to be the hotel shuttle but thankfully was on time. Overall, if we were driving and there does seem to be adequate parking we would definitely return to this hotel. As for a lay over which required a shuttle and a wake up call not so much. "Don't arrive hungry"
Friendly and helpful staff. Room was in good shape and the complimentary wifi worked well. A bit disappointed there was no restaurant or bar neither in the hotel or within walking distance. If you don't have a car you can order food for delivery, but the options are pretty much limited to pizza and Chinese food...and takes about an hour to get delivered. […] Breakfast was served 7-10, but they start packing away the food well before then. First day I missed by 10min and was stuck with a few dry leftover slices of bread. Third day I was there by 9:30 and they were already slowly removing the food options.
