"A few minor inconveniences"
The hotel was nice and easy to get to. Had a couple problems at check-in. Had bought a room through hotels.com that included breakfast, yet the hotel had no record of it. The agent at the desk was slightly rude about this and I had to 'prove' to them that this was the situation. This meant I had to log onto a computer in the lobby, find the email with […] the confirmation, and show it to the desk. By this time the employees had changed over and I basically had to start all over with another agent. This added a lot of extra time to check in. In addition, I had specifially requested a quiet room yet was put directly across from the ice and vending machines on the top floor. This room was also directly under the main generator for the hotel so it was extremely loud. However, despite all of this the room was clean, the staff (besides initial front desk agent) were very nice, the food was great, as well as was the location to the metro. I don't know what it's called "Holiday Inn". The Air-conditioning didn't work the whole night. Maintenance person came out, gave us some story about tiller not working & how he has reset it but it didn't change anything. "Newly remodeled, easy Metro/highway access"
Our family booked 3 rooms for a 5 day stay in June 2012. All of the rooms were clean and well maintained, but the bathrooms were extremely small. The hotel had just finished a major renovation and everything was in great shape. The hotel staff was helpful and pleasant, in contrast to the dining room staff. If at all possible, stay away from the restaurant […] as the food is of poor quality and the service is below average even on their best day. After the third day of a poor breakfast, we decided to strike out on our own in search of an alternative. Across the street is the Hoffman Building, and there are several eating places (Starbucks, etc.) that are all better than the hotel restaurant. The hotel is only a one block walk to the yellow line Eisenhower Metro Station. The station is only one stop away from the Old Town Alexandria (a must-see) area via the King Street metro. We always felt safe in the neighborhood, and the free parking was something that is somewhat hard to find in the DC area. Upon checkout, we were able to leave our bags at the hotel for a full day of sightseeing and then the hotel provided a free ride to Reagan National (they bon't go to Dulles due to the distance). I stayed at this hotel on the suggestion of a friend. I would not stay here again. My flight was delayed and I ended up getting there a day later than I had planned. I stayed at this hotel for one night during a business trip. The staff was courteous, and the exterior of the hotel and its common areas were very clean, if not a bit old-fashioned. My room was very clean. However, it was also very old-feeling--feeling like the decor, linens, etc., were all from the mid-1990s. The bathroom was the worst of it. Great location, and welcoming lobby and surroundings. Conveninent location close to old Alexandria, and the National Mall - took us 15-20 minutes off-peak to get the major attractions for a wonderful week.
