"Not many choices in Pottsville..."
No one on staff was at the front desk when I arrived to check in (about 7:30 PM) or when I checked out (about 7:30 AM). I had to wait for them to come to the desk from outside or another area of the hotel. Hotel is old and tired looking, but clean and functional.Genuine Expedia guest review
Not really satisfied with RAMADA, Pottsville. The room was nice, clean but needed much refurbishing. The bathroom door was hard to close due to a bump in the floor. The shower ceiling was in bad need of professional repair - it looked as if some amature was loose in there. Also, there were big cracks around the top and along the tub bottom. The phone […] in the room looked like a young child had played with it, some orange goop was left on the phone and it was really terribly dirty. I wouldn't want to spend much time talking on it. Then, the housekeepinjg staff woke me the first day, very early to me as I asked about the time I could get in the room and was told not till later in the afternoon. The housekeeping staff was there nearly at 8:30/9:00 AM the first morning. The complementary breakfast was OK. Otherwise, I would opt to locate someplace else on my next trip. "Overnight stay on business"
It was alright. I got there around 3:30 pm and Robert at the front desk did not know if my room was ready?? Odd? After 30 minutes I was told it was ready and that the cleaning staff did not inform the front desk. Then the following morning the lady at the front desk (I did not get her name), I walked passed her and she never offered a "good morning", […] never looked up at me to offer a smile. "Quick stop over"
Spent 1 night on way home from vacation. THe hotel seems to be almost hidden among the other buildings. GPS takes you in on the back side. Hotel is in need of a few updates. Room is very spacious. "Pottsville is the San Francisco of the east"
I swear, I haven't seen hills like this anywhere else except San Fran.Very picturesque but, after all, it's Pottsville. They don't have the volume to be a first rate hotel. That said, I like staying there. The staff are so friendly (nod to Heidi!) The bathrooms are getting a little worn down. It seems that someone had a great idea in converting an old […] department store into a hotel, and, in fact, it turned out pretty well. Unfortunately, the customer base just isn't there, which would make it hard to justify upkeep, let alone upgrades. It will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few years. "Only Hotel In Pottsville"
Seeing as Ramada is the only hotel in Pottsville, it's really the only choice unless you wanna drive 6+ miles up the road to stay in Frackville. Parking is good, and so is the Wireless internet, though Firefox does not like the internet certification. The elevator is extremely picky, we were stuck in it for a minute cause it wouldn't let us press any […] buttons. Also, the 15 min. parking next to the hotel, seems to be longer than 15 minutes. We wanted to pull our car up but couldn't cause there was a truck sitting in it for about an hour. "Pottsville Ramada not where expected"
The posted address on Centre Street will create a lot of confusion as that is NOT where the hotel is, not even a sign for it there. Instead, the hotel is on Progress, one block over. After driving up and down Centre for about 15 minutes I finally had to call to figure out where the Ramada really was. The parking lot is not directly across the street […] from the hotel and the hotel's front entrance is a steep flight of stairs. There is no restaurant and the continental breakfast is less than mediocre. However, there are a few places a few blocks away within walking distance if you don't need an early breakfast. The room was adequate, large and fairly well lit, although there was not a real desk to work at, only a small square table stuck in a corner. The wireless internet did not reach my room but there is free use of the "business center" computer on the ground floor, so I managed to evade the cost for connecting from the convenience of my room. "OK place to sleep"
I stayed 2 nights (in two different rooms) on business, so all I was looking for was location and a clean, comfortable room. Converted department store. Nothing fancy. Clean, very nice staff, well maintained. Atmosphere sterile. Cheap Home Depot vinyl woodgrain flooring in lobby. Rooms are spartan, but more than adequate for business travel. Continental […] breakfast was fair to poor. The bar / restaurant was closed, apparently permanently, when I visited in 3/2011. Location is on main street (Centre Street) in heart of downtown Pottsville, but setup is weird. There is no entrance from Centre Street. Instead, entrance is on a parallel street in what feels like the back of the building. Gives a feeling of isolation, not like you're downtown.
